The Dog: Where does s/he sleep?

...my lovely wife and I own a small Lance Squire 8' 6" camper; we share it with a small, spayed German Shepard female: 70 lbs. For no other reason than to satisfy a weird curiosity I have, I'd like to know how many of you camper folks share your camper with your pet(s)? Specifically, if it's a dog, how much does your pooch weigh, and where does s/he get to sleep? Our dog is spoiled, so she gets to sleep on the lower bunk bed; we keep her food and water at the floor base, near the bathroom. Our cat stays home, but if you travel with a cat in a camper, I'd like to hear some of your stories too. Be Well, Rev. Leonidas

RE: Charging Batteries

Battery Tender brand charger will easily maintain those two batteries. Top off the water and you should be fine for nine months. ...couldn't have said it better.

RE: Camping World / Dometic Conspiracy

...conspiracy? Oh please! You ever talk to anyone from Camping Worl' or Dometic? None of 'em are smart enough to conspire to do anything which would require this amount of effort to take advantage of you.

RE: How many started in a tent

...we started out in a North Face 4-season tent, moved into a 1970 Volkswagen bus, upgraded to a 1997 VW EuroVan, now we are in a truck camper: the evolutionary process of a camper to an RVer.

RE: Hillsboro (West of Portland, OR) to South Beach SP (Newport)

...we too live in good ol' Hillsboro, and when we go to that section of the coast, we take OR18 to 101S; or, we take the long way, OR6 to 101S to enjoy the views we have here in Oregon along 101. Happy Travels!

RE: black streaks

...elbow grease is the only thing that has ever worked for me; wash it, scrub it, and then I wax it. If you can get lucky like Just_Dave maybe simple green will work for you; however, I wasn't so lucky, and simple green was but a disappointment.

RE: Dogs & Camping

...all the previous posts provide perfect advice, 'cept there is one thing that our GSD always does when we camp: she drinks a lot of water. Good luck, and have a great time with her!

RE: Black Streak Remover Cleaner

...the only way I can easily remove black streaks is elbow grease. Cleaner waxes do both for me. ...you ain't the only one, there are at least two of us.

RE: It finally happened - note on my car...

...nice rant opnyn8d; however, if the issue is how a gimp like me deals with folks who challenge my disability, I have a canned response: "if you trade places with me for only one day, I'd be more than happy to explain why I parked here. Meanwhile, why don't you go and kiss your wife, or love your kids."

RE: Bought A Camper - Do I Need A Different Truck

...for what it's worth, I bought our 2002 CTD Dodge with 112,000. My brother who once was a locomotive diesel mechanic tells me that our truck is "just broken-in." The truck's former owner used it to haul stuff in a 5th-wheel type trailer. With it's mileage it uses no oil, gets 14.8 mpg with the camper on, and it's nice to drive. Would I trade it for a newer Chevy? Maybe, but the Chevy would have to provide everything better than what I already have. Drive that Chevy; let the driver in you have an opportunity in the choice. For the business of GM to the best of my understanding, the Federal Government (us taxpayers) is going to have a big steak in the success of GM; thus, GM will still operate; however, it is safe to assume that there is greater risk with the future of the vehicle's care. ...thanks for readin' my useless two cents.

RE: Changes in altitude, changes in attitiude.

...drink lots of water (not beer or other alcohol) and take it easy. Just an aside - where I live is at 7000 feet above sea level (just north of where you're at), and the area attracts a lot of athletes training for upcoming events - the altitude helps them with the very thing your struggling with - just think of what kind of shape you'll be in for the rest of your trip! :) ...thanks for posting! :C Something me as a gimp RVer has to get better at: drink more water! Oh yeah, and wear a hat: especially in Arizona!

RE: Driving Situation - Thoughts?

...I'm certainly not suggesting that it is the righteous thing to do; however, I believe it is the most intelligent thing to do: I always yield to angry drivers. It's the best way to keep my cool, and it's the easiest way to avoid conflict. The air-horn was plenty to let the other driver know that you were there.

RE: How to drain front (kitchen) waste tank

...although we only have one gray tank we have a similar problem with our 1992 Lance Squire: coffee grounds, leftover food matter, etc kept it from draining completely. The most effective way I have found to eliminate partial draining of the gray water tank is to back flush it with a Flush King. Have you tried back flushing?

RE: Poll: How many of you keep personal protection in your TC?

...German Shepard who is very protective of her owners: most effective protection, and she keeps us warm on cold nights; nothing else necessary.

RE: Rear door window--can you see thru the TC & out back?

...I couldn't live without ours. Yes, I can see a lot of things through the side mirrors; however, not everything. The little small window helps me from running over a lot more kids and old people; and we have an extended cab Dodge.

RE: Posting outside your aea of expertise

If you repeat something enough times, even if wrong, it becomes gospel truth to some. ...ummmm.?, I thought that that was how it is supposed to work on all internet forums? Collective stupidity is the gospel of truth: ain't it?

RE: Recommendations for a Park in Brookings Oregon???

RE: Holding tank chems

...since I'm a GEO method user, given that there is only a small amount of waste produced when your RV is home, use A LOT of water. I assume you dump the waste tank(s) before you hit the road, so the left-over (drop-in) odor control chemicals, plus oxygen from fresh water that should be added whenever the toilet is used, you should be fine doing what you are doing as long as you use plenty of water.
