RE: Dead batteries?

A digital volt meter & hydrometer are necessary tools to trouble shoot your system. . . we have a 2006 Expedition and never have dead batteries even when left off for months at a time. Having said that I do have two 1 amp battery minders ,one on each system, connected to keep a trickle charge going.

RE: bulk batteries loose charge, even in "disconnected" mode

What grldst said is true but if you want to know the real story about the condition of your batteries, you need to check them with a hydrometer which you can get at most any auto parts store. The volt meters are just indicators of what is going on, not the true status of your batteries.

RE: Leaving shore power connected?

If you have a three stage battery charger, then there is no problem but some of the earlier rigs that had only a single stage charger, would boil the water out of the batteries...

RE: Extended Warranty

Most people get ripped off due to the fine print in the contract. . .save your money & put it aside for when you need repairs.

RE: Electric Power Gear Jack Saga

We have a 34' 2006 Expedition that we bought brand new and have not had any problems with the electric jacks in the 2 1/2 years that we owned it so some of them must be good. As for changing to hydraulic jacks, I think that would cost you a lot of money to chage over. . .makes me wonder if they were installed correctly from the factory.

RE: Our Stressfull Nightmare purchasing from Demartini RV?

I would like to hear the other side of the story before I pass judgment and if they screwed up, what are they going to do to compensate this man plus make sure that it doesn't happen to future customers.

RE: 275 cummins better than 310 hp v10 ?

Diesels are made to pull a heavy load at low RPM and added benefits for most diesel powered coaches are air ride, air brakes, exhaust brake, & a turbo for pulling in the mountains. . .

RE: all on head lights

If the OP meant to bring the low beams on with the high beams, then that makes sense. . .I was thinking what it would be like facing some one that wouldn't dim their high beams at night.

RE: all on head lights

That is a bad idea. . .It is pretty inconsiderate to on coming traffic to have some one drive with their high beams on all the time.

RE: OK..now I'm scared to buy the motor home....

One of the prerequisites for owning a motor home is that you must have the skills to maintain it or be willing to pay a professional to do the work and that ain't cheap. Now expecting a used or even a new motor home to be trouble free is a******shoot and the odds are heavily against you.
As far as age goes, that is a non issue and good health would be the only consideration. . .good luck with your decision

RE: Generators and Microwave ovens (MWO) Power Issues

We have a 2006 Expedition with the Onan 7.5 KW generator and have run both air conditioners & the microwave all at the same time without a problem. Our rig came with the GE combo microwave & oven which may have a different draw than yours.

RE: Anyone shampoo carpets??

They used to have a dry powder cleaner that was used for carpet cleaning and I still have a Kenmore carpet cleaning machine that does the job. . .haven't used it for years so don't know if the powder is even available anymore but do know that it did a good job and didn't leave the carpet wet or damp.

RE: Air Conditioner kicks breaker on generator

You might try to tighten up the electrical connections at the circuit breaker as a loose connection causes heat that will trip the breaker. . .good luck

RE: Moving to SoCal with a Class A, worth the hassle?

Don't do it. . .California, the welfare state, is broke and the politicians are coming up with new taxes every day. The roads haven't been cared for, the State as well as the cities are laying off people, the congestion is awful & we are faced with water rationing plus there is a lot of violence. Have lived here all my life and have slowly watched a beautiful state go down hill.

RE: RV cover

I have an ADCO cover that I used one time and never again. . .reason was that it is heavy & akward to install plus there are tripping hazards all over the roof. . .much safer & easier to wash & wax
