RE: Best route Michigan to Maine in Fall?

If you go thru Toronto beware of the toll road around the North side of Toronto, apx 40+ miles and big bucks for all those axles. Thru the center of city can be tedious during rush hour and I don;t know a good time to go thru. The suggestion to cut down to Niagra Falls/Buffalo makes since to me.

RE: If you could have one car back

My 1st car, a 37 Ford. Couple others would be my 56 Chev and 58 Chev. I move cars twice a year for a local dealer, for special tent sales, nothing new impresses me now a days. Best riding vehicles now are pickops. Anyone else feel the same way??

RE: NFL Champ Game

They also have no regard for the weather, notice at times, the later game is at a colder climate and an afternoon (sun) game is inside or a warmer climate. Case this past weekend, and believe last week Green Bay game in cold at night. So the all-mighty dollar (TV ad) dictates prime time, times, etc., even though they are on different networks. The NFL guys can demand more money that way by scheduling separate times. I have been a football fan for 60+ years, high school, college and pro and now I may watch a pro game, but I can do without.

RE: Bowl Games

I love the bowl games and generally they are matched pretty well, although the BCS criteria screws things up. I look at the games as a festive time for a community trying to draw some tourism (money), and in some cases a get-away from cold weather areas.

RE: Where to retire

If you are mobile (rv) try different areas North and South by seasons.

RE: When and why did this come about?

Air compressor connectors are related to "plumbing stuff" I think, everybody does their own thing.

RE: Rotary phase converter...what is it?

Cheaper than running in 480 3 phase, for large equip as mentioned. I have seen it used for large lathe in home shop, which I believe is the only machine using such power in the shop.

RE: Compact/small cars

I have a 07 Camry, now I wish I had got the Chev Cruse, maybe next year. The Cruse is a nice vehicle for it's size

RE: I-25 Denver to close for Presidential debate: 3 October 2012

how about just closing the ramps during that time and keep that 6 miles open. debate is somewhere on DU campus i believe, which is several blocks from I25 at the closest point.Easier to just barricade around the area with guard/police. How about suspending tolls on E470 at that time and keep truck traffic moving around the town. This is beginning to look like a NFL game with replacement officials!!!!!

RE: Shangai'ed on Colorado 470

Watch out for the State park fees also, they have added fees (no taxes) on vehicle registration also. I use only federal campgrounds any more.

RE: Montrose, Co. Bad Reviews?

New folks moving in, want what they had where they came from. Expect us to just add on a new tax to cover what they want. Class warfare!!! City /county politicians at each other constantly with various lawsuits. Haven't had good city leadership for years, wasting time and money trying to please the new interest. Was a nice little farm community years ago, if we needed something we (neighbors) pitched in and got it done. Now they expect the govt. to provide anything they want. This is still a service community for TELLURIDE and right now unemployment is apx. 11%. I been here 40+ years and know a lot of people involved as well as the old officials, most of them have same opinion I do. I am involved with different clubs and do volunteer work in the community so I meet a lot of the new folks fairly soon, and most are nice and appreciate the areas, but there are those 'jerks' who think this is nothing but Hicksville and want what they had back home and push their agenda. I will probably catch some 'flak' about this, but that's ok, just stay out of our town!!!!

RE: Calling all spider experts....aggressive new one

Do you access to "waterdogs" (salamanders)? If they can survive for awhile (not freezing) they will clean out any spiders, or least around here they get the job done.

RE: Where to invest ?

Financial advisors get a cut (fee) of every transaction, so watch out for constant moving of your funds. Years ago I subscribed to Money Mag and read simple financial books, then ask for info from mutual fund companies. I have done well with conservative funds, probably ave 7-9% for past 25 years. Check their history for returns, risk etc. and a lot are low fee (operating cost) with no fees for entry or exit. Now days this is easy to compare on the internet. Now I am in Vanguard funds and they have a good web site to see all funds, returns, risk. etc. T.Rowe Price is another good company and there are others that are comparable. Just pick what you are comfortable with and they do all the work.

Pro Bicycle Race Colo Mtns. next week

Beware of highway closures/restrictions next week with this Pro cycle race. Starting Monday 8/20 in Durango to Telluride over Lizard Head, Tues. 8/21 Montrose to Gunnison-Crested Butte and so on during the week. I don't know restrictions for certain but have heard there will no traffic allowed to pass these bicycles. Just what we need is more congestion on these mountain roads, for the ALMIGHTY buck!!
