RE: Class C motorhomes/no car

Thanks a lot for the links and info. Check book is no problem as long as it's doable. I got into this on a bit of a whim, with very little rig documentation and am trying to catch up. I really appreciate the help.

RE: Class C motorhomes/no car

Great thread with great experiences and advice for us noobs - thanks!
I have a 1998 Saturn SC2 that I might like to occasionally tow behind my 21' Class C, but don't know if it's capable. It's powered by a Chevy Vortec 8100 (8.1L V8) and I travel alone and light. I bought used and didn't get any manuals - nor can I find any. I am guessing the big factor in 4-down towing is transmission and drive train type? I am also guessing my manual trans FWD car will tow 4-down with no problem? Thanks for any advice/experiences/info!

RE: Bathroom sink plumbing

Depending on how "forceful" your gray tank empties, he said something about it drawing a vacuum on the lines and pull water from the p-traps.
That's (another) one I hadn't thought of - thanks!

disastrous in an overflow situation.
Yes, I've proven that bit quite nicely, thank you very much. :S

RE: Bathroom sink plumbing

It's very useful having it plumbed this way.
OK, this explains it and I can absolutely see the value in it now. Like I said, I am new to this and bought used with no owner's manuals (and none available anywhere that I can find) for the house features.
That said, it is certainly useful and desirable when one knows in advance that it is done this way. When one is a noob and uses household plumbing knowledge and logic to infer what is going and that one then proceeds to add water to what he thinks is the gray tank for a mega-flush of the system, well ... as they say in the colloquial: $#!t happens! :E
Thanks to all for the great info - it is *very* much appreciated. Man, I am sure glad I found these forums!

RE: Bathroom sink plumbing

A couple of folks here on RV.Net have replumbed things, but I'm not sure it's THAT big of an issue. ;)
Nope, ain't gonna plumb nuthin'. The "damage" (mostly to my dignity :E ) has been done and the lesson learned - very well!! I was just curious as to why on earth they would do such a thing since it made no sense to me given the tiny size of the bathroom and the proximity of the sink and shower drains. There's a person with CAD program laying out plumbing runs that I would love to give a load of cr@p to! :B
Thanks!

Bathroom sink plumbing

I found out this weekend (at home whilst cleaning the rig, thank the stars) that my bathroom sink is plumbed to the *black* tank while the galley sink and shower go to gray. I had assumed (silly me) that the sinks would be plumbed identically. Can anyone tell me if this is "standard" practice?? It's a 2001 Dutchmen Express and *please* don't ask how I found out (although experienced RVers probably already know). Be kind - I'm a noob. :h

RE: Onan 7.5 kw DieselGenerator Quits

I have a Generac Model 02010-0 with exactly the same symptoms. I also had it to a generator service company and they found nothing wrong. In truth, nothing is wrong if I'm stationary. Get on down the road and it quits every time. Be real interestin' to see if anyone has gotten something like this fixed or if you do get that new inverter and it works fine thereafter. Be mighty appreciative if you'd post back if you do get it working OK.

RE: Generator run time - Honda 2000 vs Yam 2400

I've only had one experience with the Honda, but it was impressive. I was boondocking out by myself and fell asleep with the 2000 running (50' from the rig) and the furnace, fridge, small guitar amplifier, porch light and the usual parasitic loads on it. I had turned it on at dusk (maybe 7:00 PM) and it still had at least 1/3 of a tank the next morning at 6:30 AM. Completely anecdotal, empirical evidence and I have no idea what percentage of full load it was running overall. Anyway, that's my experience with it.

RE: Protecting China Cups

Buy some of these. https://www.rvupgradestore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=46
Have you used those? I'm concerned about the "not permanent" adhesive making itself permanent in the heat (SE AZ - hot!). Thanks!

RE: Rude to walk through someone else's campsite?

It is not being obtuse or chumming...it's called tolerance. Something many on here seem to have very little of.
It isn't tolerance - it's lack of respect for self and others. Your lack of self-respect should not require an adjustment downward to mine or that of anyone else. The least-common-denominator types really do degrade the experience for all. I think obtuse is exactly what it is.

RE: Best time for Brice/Zion

I have also been thinking of doing the canyon lands trip in the latter half of September and early October. Are reservations a must or can one find Rv park openings on a drive up basis at that time? I've never taken an extended trip in my new (to me) RV so forgive me if the answer is obvious. Thanks!
