RE: Breakaway switch hook up
Like others have said, I use a clip that is attached to a hole on my Reese hitch. The clip that I use is a carabineer.
To prevent the breakaway cable from getting caught, I run the cable through a 18 inch piece of garden hose. It does not affect the operation of the cable but does prevent it from getting caught in corner of the hitch or other things in the area.
RE: Taking Delivery Saturday woo hoo
Congrats on your new 5er. If I were in your shoes I would not be able to sleep between now and Saturday. Hope you have many great trips and memories.
RE: sad day for campkrazy
I do not know them but they are surely in my thoughts. A fire is one of the worst disasters a family can face. It touches you personally. Peace be with them.
RE: The Tornado Tutorial - Redo
Good set of information for anybody even if not in an RV. I am a RACES officer for our local Emergency Management as well as the Skywarn coordinator. Everyone needs to be prepared to take care of themselves for 24 hours. In the event of a major outbreak emergency services will be severely strained until reinforcements get in place.
RE: Need advice on a Open Road
We do not have an Open Road but have looked at several models. They have some very good floorplans. If the price is right it will make a very good unit for you. We have seen several on the road this past couple of years. Have been by their plant several times. Looked like a small operation. That is probably why they were not able to survive the recession. They were one of the first to fall.
RE: PDI Check List
Congrats on your new 5er. My PDI was like drinking from a fire hose. I wish that I remembered everything they said and showed us. It may be a good idea to tape some of the key points that you may not immediately understand.
RE: Brand New to rving
Welcome to our world. My suggestion is to take it slow and easy and to always keep it simple. A 5er can hold a lot of "stuff" that never gets used. The forum has a lot of great ideas and there are many very experienced people to help.
RE: Snowy camping
That is another one of those camping memories you will never forget. Your kids will still say "do you remember that time it snowed when we camped in April" and they will be 40 years old.
RE: Your RV on site!
I'll try this again. Billings Montana at the first KOA Campground.
