RE: ROOF VENTS

Check out the link to the photos of my vent replacement. It was on a Coachmen trailer but they could be the same. Vent Replacement Photos

RE: Southern California RV beach camping

There is a Dog Beach in Huntington Beach. The only close camping is either Bolsa Chica (always sold out) or an inland "Trailer Park".

RE: Retire @ 55

I am not retired but planning for it. I am working on the 5% rule; whatever you have in the bank you can take out 5% per year; the rest earns interest. Using Art D's number of 1 Million, you could take out $50K/year for 20 years ($4166/month), more if the rest is invested wisely. At age 55 you would still have to wait 10 years to collect medicare so you would have to pay for some medical insurance.

RE: Help me replace my roof vent please?

I have actually posted step-by-step photos here I just noticed we have the exact same trailer too! What a coincidence! Good luck!

RE: Nitto vs Bridgestone

I had Nittos and loved the performance. The only thing I did not like was the tread life. On the front the Nittos wear great but on the rears I go through them too fast even when rotating them. What I did last time was replaced the rears with Goodyear Silent Armor and kept the Nittos in the front. So far both are wearing great!

RE: Battery Charging

Hey Silver Jack, Welcome. I have the exact same trailer. What I did was install a battery cut off switch on the battery box. It was easy and cheap. My first battery lasted about 3 years and every trip it would lose the charge faster. I replaced it with a 27 series from PepBoys. I can send you a photo of the switch if you are interested. Good luck and enjoy the trailer, we sure have!

RE: Duramax Tow/Haul Mode

I think the house battery does not charge if it is not in Tow/Haul? Can anyone verify that? The tow/haul button also activates the onboard coffee maker and foot massage... If I said what I REALLY want to say right now, I'd be banned from the site for LIFE... It's true what they say "there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers" Also, it's too bad the only way you get to be a "senior member" is the quantity of posts, not the quality of the post.

RE: Orange County getting very 1st resort rv park soon?

Disney needs to create one like Fort Wilderness near Disneyland. All of the RV parks in Orange/Anaheim are not that great of a destination. The Traveland idea is nice but not a very good location.

RE: Campland on the Bay ???

Great for kids and younger people. Close to Sea World. That being said it's basically a party-place. Golf carts, bicycles, and skateboards all day and night. Some like that in fact I use to love it when I was a kid but went back recently and we decided we like the coastal state parks a lot better!

RE: Drive from Orange County to Mammoth Lakes

lanerd, you are right. I don't know where I got Ocho Rios but I looked it up, it's in Jamaica! I have never been there but from the looks of the resort I might plan a trip! Ocho Rios

RE: refrigerator problem

This happened to me once. I removed the electrode and cleaned the tip with a fine grit sandpaper. Replaced the electrode and it fired right up. This was after I checked the fuse on the circuit board.

RE: Drive from Orange County to Mammoth Lakes

I just went up to Mammoth after the July 4th weekend. We took the 15 to the 395. It wasn't bad. Like wguss said it is 2 lanes from Victorville until the 14 interchange. We went 55 - 60 mph the whole way. It did get really hot; 103 Degrees in some spots at around 2pm. There is a rest stop about 30 min past the 395/14 interchange; Ocho Rios or something like that. We had a great time and already planning the next trip.

RE: Filling Propane Tanks

I only have had the tanks filled while on the trailer when I was leaving a campground and the the fill tanks we right there at the exit; otherwise I have always taken the tanks off of the trailer and had them filled.

RE: Propane Switch Over Valve

From my experience the indicator is either green or red, no in-between. If the guage is green and the tank is empty or tank valve is turned off or the gusge is bad.

RE: Vent Cover Replacement - Step by Step

Thanks for the kind words. It really was kind of fun actually. I only needed a screwdriver and a pair of pliers and less than an hour of my time. I also installed a battery cut off switch and I was hoping to document that too. I have noticed after about 4-5 years thing need to be replaced or maintained, even if they aren't used that much like the vents.
