RE: Bay heaters

Great idea. After using light bulbs/timer...I'm moving UP!...especially now that we are workamping most year round...and it's harder to find old style 100 watt bulbs. Just ordered everything from AMZN...BTW we workamp there too & love it.

Green River KY/Spartanburg, SC

Just left our workamping at Amazon in KY where we stayed at Green River Stables for three months....great place and you can let your dogs run free (so long as you pick up after & well behaved). Heading for Myrtle Bch...Christmas with grandkids. Stopped over at Spartanburg, SC Campground. I guess the owners don't want us back as they gave us a site that was muddy due to septic tank lines being repaired and across the street from a permie hovel. Would include a pic if I could. At least when I pulled the curtain I could imagine I was at the stables again! Up early and on the way to MB!

RE: Dinghies for Dummies

We too have an '08 HHR and have been towing it since then and love it. Bought Roadmaster base plate etc and also had my RV guy put a toggle switch inside the glove box to disconnect the fuse that would need to be pulled as to not drain the battery. Would use invisibrake but wasn't available back then. Use Even Brake...& it's ok but you need a place to store it.

RE: satellite TV

We've had dish at home for years and since our family uses the cabin while we travel (9 mos a yr) we leave it there, but bought a new receiver and small carryout dish from CG. Added to my acct...$7/mo. You can get these from Amazon and a tripod too for less than CW.

RE: Where is everybody going for Thanksgiving?

We're not going anywhere 'cause we're already here...50 couples working at Amazon and staying at Green River Stables. We'll be having our potluck in the stables as we did last year. What a great way to spend the holiday!

RE: Wood for carpet

We used Lowes brand like Allure last winter...on sale...cost $250 for all...did the job myself and was easy...cutting out the carpet the hardest. Left the carpet under kitchen table beside the bed and from doghouse up. Love it!
There are many comments about this on the forum and some have pix.

RE: Black Tank

We put all our soapy dish water down the toilet so we use 1 dishpan 'bout 1/2 full. All that used soapy water sure keeps things clean (as clean as a toilet can be!)

RE: Plexiglass Storm Door

5 years ago bought plexiglass from Lowes. They cut the straight pieces to fit. All I had to do was trim the curved top corners with a jig saw. First used Velcro but changed to screen door clips for the top and sides and mirror clips for the bottom for the plexi to sit in. We leave in year round and take the bottom out when we want fresh air. This way the door is always open, friends know if the outside door is open , we're home. We semi full time 9 months of the year and now don't get the closed in feel, and it brightens up the room and the dog can see out.

RE: Can we fly to Fairbanks, rent an RV, & see the aurora?

Back in 2000 we did the whole cruise/train/bus thing and added 10 days RVing from Fairbanks. First part of Oct. Was told we were the last they would rent to. By then all parks had turned off water.

RE: Residency when full timing: Florida vs Texas

We chose TN. No income tax except on some investments, no personal property tax on vehicles inc motor home. Just $26/ vehicle/ year. After 25 years in NC being taxed to death, what a pleasant surprise!

RE: VQ 2500 Dish Tailgater

Just bought a Winegard MP1 and Dish receiver from CW.Cheaper from Amzn
but total about $300. Works great. Little tricky getting the sat signal but now that I've done it just takes about 10 min in future,to set up. Since we've got Dish at home it adds $7/month to bill. But pay as you go runs $35 up depending on your plan and you get billed for the months you use it.

TV reception

Just checking to see if any of you with "over the air" TV get better reception with any of the newer antennas on the market. We have the standard batwing with amp. Are workamping til Christmas in the middle of KY and have no reception ( neither does anyone else). I know Dish is an option but for the little bit of good tv out there, I'd be happy with just a few local channels.

A/C short cycling

What would cause the A/C short cycle? We have 2 and the rear one did this last summer then started working ok. Now it's doing it again. Set therm. on 75. When it reaches 75 it turns off, then within 30 seconds it starts up again. First the fan then in about 2 min. the compressor. I cleaned the filter and the thermostat probe as well as the compartment.

RE: replacing old berber carpet with vinyl tile ?

Agree...we installed a "floating floor" last winter from Lowes. Total cost $200. Took out all carpet except under the bed and slides (our slides sit up about 2" from the floor) Have throw rugs with rubber backs so they don't slide and just shake to clean. It's great. There are earlier posts of others that have done this and with pix.
