RE: Could we please get some global warming over here? Thanks

It finally stayed warm enough to rain, and more rain (44°F right now). So far we have received over 2" of rain the past few days. Oh, well, we need the moisture so we don't have any more fires like NW Wisconsin.

RE: Your Fuel/Oil comments - please post here

Up here at the head of great lakes gasoline prices have gone up close to a buck over the past few weeks. Prices now are $4.29 to $4.39. Not too long ago these prices were around $3.39. This smells!! :R

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Well, we're getting it in the shorts up. Current prices today are $4.29 to $4.39 per gallon. They say prices will start drifting down in a month. Meanwhile the additional costs are hitting everyone's wallet. The first week in June we're taking a 500 mile round trip. Oh, well, the motor home needs fresh gas anyway.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Checked Gas Buddy this morning to see what the prices were at now. Surprise! Of the reporting stations, the highest was $3.99. The lowest price was $3.81 at a Cenex station. What the heck is going on? Strange things are happening (strange music in the background).

RE: Navistar RV is gone.......Hello new owners

I must be the only one that thinks the new front caps are too gaudy. The new front caps, IMHO, could have the "big" chrome "V's" be a little more subdued. But then I'm not going to be buying a new(er) rig.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Gasoline prices have now risen to "incredible" levels for our area - $4.19 to $4.27 a gallon. Diesel is actually cheaper. Our elected representatives in the Senate are calling for an investigation (another one) into why several refineries decided to "go down" for maintenance at the same time. All I know is that it is getting darned expensive to drive our vehicles (glad we don't live in California :B). Especially since the snow has finally melted and the roads are ice free.

RE: Navistar RV is gone.......Hello new owners

Glad I'm on my last motor home. We've had HR's since 1991 and really liked the brand. We've been lamenting that there are few dealers left. The old Monaco screwed too many existing dealers because of their bankruptcy so other dealers didn't want to pick up the brand. Hopefully this new management will redesign the front ends of the new HR's. Hate the "new" look.

RE: Allies Specialty Vehicles Buys Monaco Corp Today

Let's see, since we've been HR owners there have been at least 4 owners. Hopefully ASV can do a better design job on the front of the motor homes.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Yesterday gasoline prices leaped up 20¢+ to $4.19 a gallon (one station at $4.35) at many stations. Seems that two refinery's in the Chicago area shut down for maintenance. I'm curious as to why, being about 300 miles away, our gasoline prices increased. Across the river there is a refinery where we get our gasoline. Seems to me that we, the consumer, is getting it the shorts, again :E. This "massive" increase is a "sneaky" way increase someone's profit margin.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

These gasoline prices are going to hamper the tourist industry up here for sure. For the first time in many months the cost of most diesel is hovering around $3.95-$3.99 with one station at $4.35. I'm beginning to think that someone wants us to start driving those dinky little high mileage vehicles. Geeze, I wonder where I can put the 6hp outboard on my fishing boat. Maybe there is enough room on the transom :h.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Holy Buckets!!! Gas prices have leaped up another 20¢ a gallon to $4.19 :E. What the heck is happening???? Lately the prices have been incrementing by 10 - 20¢ a gallon. Luckily we were able to stop at the local Sam's Club and fill up at $3.89 (big deal :M) this afternoon. It was at a high of $3.95 this morning when we filled up at a local station. Sputter, sputter....:h

RE: Recommendations for RV Garage?

From personal experience the concrete slab should have mesh embedded for extra strength. The slab should be at least 20'x50' with one coarse of concrete blocks around the edges. A 12' wide by 14' high door should allow adequate clearance. The garage should be wired for at least 30 amp and if you can have it plumbed for sewer. I just put in one of those water inlets through the wall to hook the hose up to it. Then a short hose to the MH.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

The new gasoline price is now $3.95 a gallon in this area. We'll shortly see if the price will reach $4.00 a gallon. In my opinion these price increases are partly due to the FED continuing to print money since the prices are in U.S. dollars. Oil price is $94.28 right now. Wonder if there is a refinery that has shut down for maintenance.

RE: Attacked in my sleep!!!!

Buy a pair of wool mittens and present them to your wife at bed time saying they are for YOUR protection. Don't forget the socks for cold feet (how do I know this :E).

RE: Dingy

If you don't mind shifting for yourself, think about a Subaru Outback. Full-time AWD and enough ground clearance to enjoy many back roads. Subaru's with manual transmissions are towable on all 4 tires. No distance or speed restrictions.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Thinking it is getting almost warm enough to put a coat of wax on the motor home. But I'll wait another week or so to make sure.:B

RE: Who Installed your baseplate

I Just bought a Subaru Crosstrek to tow behind the MH. I am wondering what is the best place to have the Baseplate installed. RV Dealer, CW, Car Dealer :h I would say the dealer as they would know how to remove and replace the front facia correctly. When I did my Subaru Outback a number of years ago the entire front "bumper", grill and headlights had to be removed. Had to go to the dealer and get some of those plastic pins to replace the ones that got ruined. Used the blue Lock-Tite to make sure all bolts stayed put. No problems for the past 11 years.

RE: Cool app to transfer pictures/files from your smartphone....

Too bad it's only for the iPhone or Android. I've had a Palm Pre smart phone for several years and am not looking to upgrade and pay more $$ ($20 more a month for 4G).

RE: intel-core vs AMD

My latest upgrade (it's been 6 years) to the desktop will be a new motherboard, Intel i-5 processor, 8Gb DIMM memory, and video/graphics card. That should be good for the next 6 years.

RE: Where are all the Truck Campers ?

Mine has been stuck in the storage yard for the last month until yesterday. Haven't been able to travel much waiting on my youngest to graduate tech which was last night. Then I have the upcoming wedding of my oldest which I will be using the TC as my base. But, even when I do get to traveling, you won't find me on the interstates as I prefer the back roads. And I really really prefer the back roads where I hardly see folks. From my last trip in GA. Those are my tracks you see in the road as I was stopped by a huge mud puddle that I refused to attempt until I get the winch install finished so had to turn around. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb480/kohldad/IMG_2232.jpg width=800 Wow, looks like a channelized stream bed. Hate to be on that during a heavy rain.:E
