RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Leave it plugged in while at home, it will make you feel really good that you don't have to load/unload the fridge/freezer every weekend too. PLUS - it gives DH a place to go run and hide and have a cold beer during the week:)

RE: Power tongue jack --Why ?

Sorry, I don't want to start a war here but I thought most of the OP's posts were condescending and 'challenging'.. Including and specifically the last one. oops, I think I just started a war.. :)

RE: Question For Outdoor Kitchen Owners...

We weren't shopping for outdoor kitche when we found our bullet 27RBPR and after looking at the trailer for the first time, honestly still didn't get too excited. There is only two of us and two pets so interior storage wasn't an issue anyway but our Premier has more than enough space inside anyway. Now that we have it we absolutely love it.!! Not sure WTH weather conditions mentioned previously have to do with using outdoor kitchen? We use ours ALL the time, actually store 1/2 our dishes, cups, cutlery out there and use it more than inside. Not saying our next camper HAS to have one but we absolutely love the one we got now.

RE: RV Wholesalers

ALMOST bought from them. Got the price, had the items worked out and it was between them and closer dealer. Ended up going with dealer, but not until they came close to the Wholesale price. I didn't hide anything from anyone, but I was also fair about it. I told them I would pay extra $$ for not having to drive 500 miles and I did pay a little extra to get the closer trailer. It's true when they say you get the best price when you are ready to walk out the door empty handed.

RE: Leave tank valves closed even with full drain hookup?

Here's a question.... Did anyone every think of having an option to drain the Grey THROUGH the black tank? So once you dump the black you would leave the black valve open, then open a valve on the grey that would run through the black tank and flush even more.. Maybe I'm overthinking this. What a waste. LOL

RE: My first two knucklehead moves with my T/T

GREAT stories!!! I've lived a few of them, including the "maybe I should check the hose clamp connection while dumping" one.. Yeeesh. No kids but we bring along the dog and cat when camping. Wife usually gets out while I'm backing in to make sure we're not hitting anything. Last summer I was 1/2 way in but needed picnic table moved which she couldn't do on her own. Put truck in Park, got out to help and heard click> click> click as I got to back of truck. Yep, kitty cat decided he wanted a better look so he stood on the door locks and locked us out of truck, blocking the road on a Friday night. 1 hour later, 4 other rigs waiting and drinking my beer while all attempts to break into truck failed and the locksmith shows up 30 seconds BEFORE the coat hanger trick finally works. Cost me a case of beer for the neighbors, $100.00 for the locksmith's drive but gained a few friends.

RE: Power tongue jack --Why ?

Because this is 2013 not 1913. I have an electric water pump as well. And I use light bulbs instead of a kerosene latern. Hell, I can't stop laughing at this one! LOL.. Still best answer on here. :) I have Electric jack because it came with the trailer. Others that we camp with do not and they are envious of it when we are out. To each their own.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

We also did sliding drawers. I think there are some pictures already posted back about a year on this thread. Not sure if you can search my name and come up with them. I will try and retake some. They work great. Now that I think about it, I believe I saw those awhile back. I'll have to revisit it and dig back. Do you miss the use of the full space within the cabnet due to the face trim around the door opening? I know these Premiers have maximum storage so perhaps its not an issue. Hey Baunno, Sorry we got a little more snow so I've been snowmobiling instead of focusing on the camper.... Pics of my mod, if you go back/forth from there I believe others had posted their sliding shelves as well. Yes, I know this thread is getting a little long. LOL We personally figure we GAINED usable space because prior to the sliding shelves we really didn't use the back of the pantry. It was too much of a pain to see and reach the stuff way back there. Now we use the entire space of each shelf so what you lose in hardware you gain in handy. Pantry Slideout FYI - I used the stock pantry shelves as drawer fronts for pot drawer under the bench seat and dresser drawers under the bed. DW LOVES the dresser drawers :):) Pot and Dresser Drawers

RE: I hate this mattress!

we went to the local mattress store in Rockport, TX and picked ours out and then paid $35 extra for the end cut for a queen trailer fit. Delivered, installed and hauled the other away, all total about $450! And it is high, but heaven! I kinda did that myself. We bought a King bed for the house so I took the Queen mattress, cut it open about a foot from the end and removed one row of coil springs. used a pack of zip ties to tie the coil springs back together and also zip tied the mattress material back together (think stitches)... We leave that end of the mattress at our feet in the trailer, covered with the usual mattress pad. Better then throwing it out we figured.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

Lighting in the Pantry This may have already been discussed in this forum and if it has my apologies so please guide me to the discussion. As Premier owners we all know the pantry is dark. I often use a flashlight to find things and want to light it with LED rope lighting. I'd like to use a plunge switch to turn it on and off, like a refrigerator switch so when you open the door the lights come on. Has anybody done a mod similiar to this? I figure I can tap power from in back of the microwave but it looks like I'll have to pull the frig to run the AC line to the cupboard I'm not keen on doing that... Recommendations accepted! I went the other direction, couldn't stand having to shuffle and move stuff around to get at the items in the back so made our shelves slide out... Don't need a light now. :):)

RE: RV antifreeze in freshwater tank for winterizing and my plan

Simplest method which I did for ten years on my first TT and now do on my second one. First drain your water heater (open the hot water faucets as you do it) When it is all drained close the faucets and close all the other faucets too 1. Disconnect the inlet hose(pipe) on your pump 2. Connect a short (2 feet or less) piece of plastic tubing to the inlet that you just disconnected. -You can get all size diameters at Lowes or Home Depot for very little cost-by the foot 3 Close your bypass valves 4. stick the free end of the plastic tube in gallon of Pink RV antifreeze 5 Turn on your pump and then one by one open each faucet until pink stuff flows out. Also flush the toilet until pink stuuf is in the bowl 6. Make sure to do the shower head too There is no need to do the traps, since they will be done automatically When you are through, put a few spoonfulls into your city water inlet to protect the check valve. My 25 foot trailer uses only a gallon and half, and I am done in ten minutes Jack L This is exactly what I do... to the "T" (pun intended) :):)

RE: Light Weight Travel Trailer

Looking for a small light weight TT. Plan to tow with a Honda Pilot ( rated for 3,000 lb trailer or 5,000 lb boat trailer ???). Sold our Pop up and 20' Jayco. Currently tow a 24' TH with a Duramax. Just completed a 3,500 mi trip, staying in Motels and Diesel cost us $1,500.00. Motels close to that. We make two major trips a year and want something 3,000 lbs or less, under $12,000. Something primarily to sleep in. All comments appreciated. penokee:@ Unless you WANT to camp keep staying in hotels... Especially for a driving trip like that. You will NOT save any money staying in a camper if that is your main reason for thinking about buying one. WITH trailer.. 10 mpg max. with Ridgeline, assume 10 day trip. 3500 miles / 10 mpg = 350 gallons @ $3.00/gallon = $1050.00. 10 days @ $25.00/night = 250.00 for campsites. TOTAL = $1300.00 WITHOUT trailer.. 20 mpg?? 3500 miles / 20 mpg = 175 gallons @ $3.00/gallon = $350.00 10 days @ $75.00/night for hotel = $750.00 Total = $1100.00 Even without taking into account the maintenance and cost of trailer it is cheaper, Easier and less stress to just drive and stay in hotel. I agree with you that it would probably be cheaper to stay in hotel. Slight correction to your comparison: Without trailer: 3500 miles / 20 mph = 175 gallons @ $3.00/gallon = $525.00 Total = $1275.00 OOps, sorry about that... I was doing math in head. We do take 2 week driving trips every fall and much prefer the comfort and worry free driving of a car over a pickup/trailer combination. Our fuel mileage on car is 35 mpg and truck/trailer combination is 10 so much bigger fuel gap. As far as food and hotel is concerned, we usually stay in HOTWIRE hotels which often have breakfast included and we have Groceries/drinks in cooler in trunk for snacks/lunch. WE prefer long distance mile trips in a car/hotel instead of camper but I can also understand the camper preference as we enjoy that around home otherwise. The topic seemed to be all about the COST of these trips and my point was there is another option that doesn't involve camping. Happy camping errr.. driving? lol

RE: No brakes down US 97 at night + smoke

And here my DW always asks why I reach down and test the trailer brake when we pull out the driveway or after a sharp turn... And yes, I also monitor the red "GLOW" on the pavement at night to make sure the lights are on back there. Old Truck driver habits I guess...

RE: Top Things I have Learned in 6 Years of Camping

Well, that's funny.. I love camping with friends for the cavixen' around the fire and general hoot-a-nanny.. But have to agree that organizing departure, arrival, breakfast, lunch, dinner 2 weeks in advance I could do without. LOL... Sorry to any friends that read this. :):) Also, to add to the list... When travelling with a curious cat.. take keyfob with you when leaving cat in running truck, even if just backing into site.. Been locked out by said feline twice now and I SWEAR he lays on the passenger seat soaking in the AC while I fork over $50.00 to locksmith!!! LOL

RE: DIY Outdoor Entertainment Center ???

This is fun, isn't it? To answer the original OP question, we have a 22" flat screen w/dvd that we use in the outdoor kitchen OR on the picnic table (heaven forbid). We truthfully did ENJOY having the Olympics highlights on during the evening fire. I didn't think twice about all the other nonsense being discussed as we barely had the volume up loud enough for us to hear.. No different than laughing/conversation by fire I figure.. To the ummm...."Others".. I'll shut my TV off if you tell those drn kids/dogs of yours to shutup at 6:00 AM when they are screaming, barking, playing, riding training wheel bikes past my camper and basically ENJOYing themselves. After all, I'm trying to sleep cause I was up late. :):) Honestly don't know what the difference would be between the above two? Common sense and consideration of others is always the same rule no matter where you are located in my opinion. P.S.. j/k about kids/dogs... kinda :):)

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

I picked up the 31bhpr today!! It is nice. 2.5 hrs for the walk thru and closing. Dealer great so far. The tt is even better. As we speak, I am camping out in yard to make sure all is well. Will head to a campground tomorrow after getting organized. Everything is great so far. Mods done as asked. My biggest concern right now is pulling it with my silverado 1500. But so far so good. I am looking hard for a reason to take int back but so far I can't find anything. I dind decide to get slide toppers and they won't be in till next week so it does have to go back for that. Anyway, I love it so far. Congrats and welcome to the club! You'll love the Premier!! We went with the slide toppers as well.. Haven't had any issues in two years with debris. It really does depend on where you camp. WE are more into national parks and here they are almost all very tree'd which means very little wind on the slide toppers but also means leaves, twigs, etc. can get on top of slide if you DON'T have the topper. The 2-3 times a year that we camp in wide open spaces we DON'T like the slide topper because it does get noisy IF there is a wind. For the most part, the wind dies down at night anyway so it hasn't been an issue for us. $0.02 spent.

RE: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012

She's the only cat I know that comes inside to go to the bathroom and then goes out to play again. I thought our cat was the only cat that did that... so I guess that's two now.. LOL

RE: Not Mentioned

WE've never had a pup, went from tent to TT... OUR reasoning behind it wasn't the setup/down situation as much load/unload. Our TT sits in the driveway, ready to go from Mon-Thu. Thursday we open the door, fill the fridge with fresh groceries and hit the road. Otherwise, all the condiments, etc. stay in the trailer. Friends of ours have PUPs and they all spend hours/week loading totes/coolers to take with so when they get there they can load camper...

no time to post, too busy camping in the Bullet. We've added a few more little things, just got back from one week trip to Wisconsin. Shined up the camper on the weekend and it looks brand new again. Still love the Bullet premier!!!
