RE: What is your campfire profile?

For us, a campfire is a large part of camping. The entire group will gather around a fire for Smores, conversation, quiet thought, or just to socialize. We typically camp with other families and the fire pit is the gathering spot where we discuss plans for the day, dinner, etc. We almost always have a fire at night and usually one in the morning. Being frim farm country in the northeast, our camping is usually spring and fall - cool, sometimes wet. Winter camping is out - to much snow and ice, although we have camped in those conditions. And yes - the campfire was REALLY important then.

RE: willkins rv dealer, bath, new york

The wife's cousin and husband dealt with them. They were not at all satisfied with service after the sale. They seem to be carrying a ton of inventory and have the new showroom and service center - so someone must be happy. Good luck, Mike

RE: NY Rt 13 Elmira to I-81 at Cortland

No clearance problems. However, on Rt. 13 in Cortland, there are several turns as Rt. 13 winds through the city. If traveling through at high traffic times, they could be a little stressful. An alternative is to take Rt. 281 North before coming to Cortland and then hitting I-81 at Homer - just a few miles north. Rt. 281 has a few traffic lights but avoids the city traffic. Good luck, Mike

Denver to Central New York State

Bringing our daughter home from Colorado Springs. She is finishing an internship mid August. Drove out on I-80 and thinking of coming home on I-70 for different sights. How does I-70 compare to I-80? Any areas of concern? Major areas of congestion? All comments welcome. Thanks, Mike

RE: I 86 or I 80

I-86 seems to be out of the way. Construction on I-86 - taking care of the rough section in WNY. I'd take I-80.

RE: Suggestions for campground in the Finger Lakes area, NY

What are you interests for visiting - Wineries, general scenery, etc? There are many parks, some near water and others a short distance away. (In the Fingerlakes, you're always only a short distance away from a lake...) There are some larger parks and many small parks. Good luck in your search, Mike

RE: Niagra Falls North KOA?

We stayed there a few years ago. The owners were very pleasant and we really enjoyed our stay. A smaller campground, most sites were shaded. A short drive to the falls. Quiet and relaxing and the kids had fun.
We have also stayed at the Grand Island KOA, a larger campground and we were treated very well also. We stayed in this KOA by accident - we thought we selected KOA North when making reservations. We wanted to stay at KOA North due to our previous experience there. This KOA has some shaded sites and some open sites. The facilities were in good repair last summer. This KOA has more amenities than KOA North. Busier than KOA North, but still relaxing.
We stayed at a very large campground in Canada near the falls, sorry don't recall the name. Did not enjoy it - was extremely busy and crowded.
Never stayed at Four Mile Creek.
Good luck, Mike

Route from Central NY state to Colorado Springs, CO

In a few weeks, I'll be traveling to Colorado Springs with my DD. She is doing an internship there and needs a vehicle. I feel more comfortable if I tag along for her trip out... Looking for suggestions and advice on routes, areas to avoid, times to avoid in particular areas. Please realize this does not involve towing. Thanks in advance.

RE: DAY/NIGHT SHADES STRINGING PROBLEM

As Clay L mentioned, the cord is available at Jo Ann Fabrics stores much cheaper than some other places.

RE: Where for seafood around Myrtle Beach

Actually, Bimini's is on our list to try this year. Have heard a little about Sara J's, but not Nance's. How long a drive is Calabash from MB? Just 6 days, 2 hours, and 45 minutes until we plan on leaving, but who's counting...

RE: Maine Campground Suggestions

Mengunticook x3 We had the most delightful stay. Was central enough for day trips north and south, although we did not visit the most northern areas of Maine.

RE: 2 Ocean Lakes Questions

Enjoy your stay. We leave in a week and a half for OL.
Our Verizon phones have 5 bars signal there, also much better than our house in CNY.
There is a WalMart a short distance from OL on Route 544 - a mile or two away. It gets very crowded later in the day into evening. Even early in the day it can be crowded. Traffic can be pretty heavy on 544 at times, especially at the Rt 17 interchange. Don't recall whether there are bicycle paths or such, but the roads are pretty flat. Would recommend early in the day. There are other grocery stores in the area as well. Don't remember the names or distance.
Good luck, Mike
Editted for spelling - sometimes I wonder if English is my first language...

Towing capacity of 2009 Colorado

Just bought a Keystone Cougar 307BHS TT to pull with my new Colorado. What air bags do you recommend for the rear springs?
Just kidding! April 1st is just around the corner... Wanted to be the first :B

When my son was 8 years old, he couldn't sit on the tailgate or reach over the side either. Coincidence?

RE: Jayco Shocks question

The Eagle line and the Designer line shared the same frames and running gear. The Designers had shocks, Eagles didn't. So the mounts are there. As mentioned previously, Monroe can be installed or a Jayco dealer can get them. Good luck, Mike

Ocean Lakes - internet access at campsite

According to OL's web site, access to the internet is available at each campsite. Was wondering the specifics. What is the cost, is it wifi or wired, is it limited to a single computer or can it be shared, and is it available in all sections? We are heading down in April and both the wife and I need access - not necessarily at the same time - using different computers. We both have company computers so sharing a computer is not an option. I also e-mailed OL and am waiting their response, but am looking for a report from an end user. Thanks in advance, Mike

RE: Looking for nice campground in SC close to I-95

I would also recommend the KOA at Florence. Granted our stay was a year ago past Feb... Also heard a lot of positive comments on South of the Border - never ventured in - the rest of the area turned me off.
