RE: Gas Stations

Print a list of Flying Js off the internet. I've pulled my 5ht wheel around the country twice and use Flying J whenever possible. I go there because I know there is always a diesel pump that is accesible for an rv and has a nozzle that will fit a pick up. There prices are usually very competitve too. Auto diesel is sold at the cash price truckers pay.

RE: `07 Montana 3400L with Mor/Ryde Suspension?

My 07 3400RL came with Mor/Ryde Suspension. I still have the sales brouchre for the 07 Montanas. It shows the Mor/Ryde as not being a standard feature. It is listed under the Value Package group of options. Also listed in the Value Package are things like a roof ladder, fold away entry handle and electric front jacks. I've never seen a 3400 without these items so I'm guessing that Value Package is on everyone.

Bearing Buddy Lube -How Much? How Often?

My 5vers wheel bearings have the external zerk for lubing. Before a big trip I give each wheel 6 or 7 good squirts with a lube gun. That's usually twice a year. As I was lubing them today it occured to me that I might be over doing it. If I didn't have the external lube I'd be lucky to get to them every couple of years. Is there a guideline out there for lubing these wheel bearings? What are the rest of you doing?
Thanks, S Fuego

RE: 1-80 Nightmare in California

Hi,
We head out Sat morning and we were planning on taking I-80. Should we take 50 instead? How much extra time will it add? Is 50 narrow? There's only one spot that shows we would have a delay on Sat morning on 80. But if the road is that bad and that narrow, maybe we should do 50. What would you do?
Thx, Lori
Lori- Not sure where you are headed but if you head up 80 on Saturday you will miss most of the repair congestion. You will find some very rough areas of road surface. As for the narrow stretch at the border, take it slow and stay in the right lane marked for trucks and you should be ok.

1-80 Nightmare in California

For years I've thought I-80 over Donner Summit the worst stretch of interstate in the lower 48. The road surface is deeply rutted from forcing chain useage when not necessary. This rutted and pitted road surface will shake everything loose in your RV. I've lost hub caps, clearance lights, awning endcaps, etc. I hate this stretch of road. Some how California has just taken this piece of road and made it worse. East bound 80 about 5 miles from Nevada is now seriously scarey. They have construction going to repair the road surface problems but now confine you to a 10' lane to keep you out of the contruction area. On the eastbound lanes you have 2 choices of lanes. Once you make your choice you are stuck. Pay attention closely if you are towing. The left lane uses 3' tall cement barrier on both sides of the lane. You have about 1 foot of clearance on both sides. Hold on tight and keep a steady hand or you'll bounce off one of the cement walls. The right lane is marked for trucks and is a little better. You have a cement wall one your left and the gaurd rail on your right. Not much clearance on either side. Once again a steady hand is a must. I followed a TT trough the right lane this week. The poor driver was seriously nervous about having such little clearance on either side. The posted speed was 45 MPH. The TT crawled through at about 10 MPH. He made it through just fine. If narrow confine lanes make you nervous, there is a detour for wide loads at exit 194. I'm not sure how far out of your way the detour takes you but you might consider it.

RE: Crossing Colorado on I-70

I did I70 through Colorado this week in a Duramax 3500 towing a Montana 3400. No problem. Go slow on the down grades. Use your gears and enjoy the view. Much prettier than I80 throu Wyoming.

Is Ethanol Messing With My Mileage?

I have an 07 Duramax. The mileage has always been a consistent 18mpg when not towing. I've been stuck in northern California for the last few months and found my mileage is now down to 16mpg. The computer information from On Star says all my systems are working ok. I've been told that ethanol is added to all fuel in Calif during the winter. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, could this be causing my drop in mpg?
Thanks

RE: Propane Regulator Question

I appreciate the input. I didn't think the 2 psi would make a difference but it's always best to check. This forum is a great resource for information.

Propane Regulator Question

One of the propane regulators in my 07 Montana started leaking and I'm having a hard time finding an identical new one. The old one is marked 18 psi. The closest I can find looks identical but is marked 16 psi. Does anyone know if 2 psi is going to make a difference. Can I replace an 18 psi regulator with a 16 psi?
Thanks S. Fuego
