RE: 13" Tire Rec for Popup

RE: 13" Tire Rec for Popup

One of the reasons I quit "pullen" leaving my Pup in storage at the campground were I spend the Summer. I blew all 3 originals within 2 years plus a new one running around the West.

Almost packed

Just about ready to take off for the Summer to my favorite campsite on the Trinity River in the Trinity Alps at Old Lewiston Bridge Campground.
Weather forecast is low 80s for highs & around 50 at night for the next 10 days w/no rain. Perfect for this old guy. Off on Friday at the crack of dawn!

RE: pop-up to alaska

Got to chuckle as I have seen SUV's doors ripped off by hungry bears in Yosemite, Kings Canyon & the Trinity Alps here in California. Hard shell campers are no safer than a pup.

RE: PUP Awning worth the darn?

I bought a kitchen type high stool that I find makes many set up chores easier.

RE: PUP Awning worth the darn?

Have not put mine (Jayco) up in a number of years as it's just too much work in relation to benefit. It's OK once it's up but as my favorite campsite has good shade. I do have a 12' X 12' screen house which serves much the same purpose.

RE: Getting Itchy

Well near. Shasta is about an hour away. Mt Shasta is lovely but the best hiking, fishing & camping is in Trinity County IMO.

RE: Thinking maybe!

Frankly 4 total is the Maximum I'd camp with in any type of camper a PUP or a hard shell. But then I'm a grouchy Ole Fart. Truth is my wife, Sister in law & my grandson are the only ones I really like in my Jayco.
Now having said that Pups today can have all the modern convinces of any type of camper including full bathrooms.
My 2003 model has a fridge, micro-wave, toaster, coffee pot, stove, sink but no toilet other than a port-a-potty for night time. In addition a I-Pod Dock w/speakers, TV & of course I camp where WiFi is available & free.
I spend 3 to 4 months in it.

RE: Favorite Tent Sites- North East

Long was away but Mary Smith Tent Campground on Beautiful Lewiston Lake in Northern California's Trinity Alps is possibly the loveliest view anywhere. Great trout fishing & kayaking with tons of wildlife. All kinds of waterfowl including Egrets, Herons (Blue & Night), ducks, geese, otters, deer, bear, cougars you name it!

Getting Itchy

April first & my thoughts are in the Trinity Alps in Northern California's Trinity County where my PUP "lives" safely stored September through April.
Will be heading out May first for a Summer of hiking, fishing, Kayaking & camping. This will be my 28th year of camping there at Old Lewiston Bridge Campground & since my retirement the 10th for the Summer.
Will be purchasing a new "Sit on Top" kayak a soon as the Ole Income tax money shows up retiring my 5 year old Pelican 10' sit in style with it's many scars, scrapes & dings.
So what's your plans?

RE: Am I crazy?

I spend most of the Summer in my PUP with a excellent bed. I tent camp at least once a month with a air mattress.

RE: Pop-ups and Bears

I camp in the Heart of California bear country seeing a number every year including a run in last Summer with my car. The Bear won.
Never had a camper problem however. I have seen SUV's doors ripped of by hungry bears so a hard shell camper gives you no more protection than a pop up.
