RE: Advise for renting a tow dolly

Be sure to ask U-Haul if their dolly has brakes. They tried to rent me one that did not.

RE: How to correct leaking hydraulic fluid from leveling jacks

If they are powergear any hydraulic shop should be able to reseal them, cost me $100 or so each to get my 3 resealed. Instructions are on the website so you can see if you feel up to doing it yourself, but powergear charges a lot for the seal kit so check out local prices to see if it is worthwhile.
A recent thread on here indicated that (at least some) HWH jacks are welded and have to be cut open so that's a whole other level of complexity.

RE: Electric Fan on a big block ?

Electric fans have been used in all front wheel cars since the late 1970's. In addition several major over the road commercial truck builders have done away with belt driven fans for years. The new electric radiator fans are used on the the emission compliant big rig diesels, which run at higher temperatures. Electric Fan Engineering Company makes a 36" 6 HP 42 volt fan specifically for these applications. Bendix, Borg-Warner and Flex-A-Lite also have been making all electric cooling fans for years. In some cases, the radiators or being removed from the front engine compartment completely and placed remotely.
Flex-A-Lite has a Heavy Duty Division that offers truck engine cooling fans designed to be direct replacement units for OEM fans on nearly all makes of trucks and buses. The company says its newest product is designed to replace the original clutch belt driven fan on full-sized Chevy and GMC pickups and Suburbans with 34-in wide radiators.
In addition the electric fans when replacing belt driven cooling fans eliminate the parasitic drag on an engine by as much as 50 hp!
How does that work that a 6 HP electric fan can replace a 50 HP directly driven fan?

RE: Turn Signal Problem

How did you come to the conclusion that it was the switch?
I did say "most likely"...
You wrote that "I can jump it to the rear brake light coming down the column and it works but then it becomes a brake light too.".
To me that implies that the lamp itself and the wiring are OK, but the switch is not supplying power to it. Although you didn't state it I did assume that you had either done the jumping between the two turn signal wires on the column, or if you had jumped it from the column directly to the lamp that you had already done the logical jump which would have been to the front turn signal wire coming down the column and found that didn't work - if not then that would be good to try.

RE: Turn Signal Problem

I can jump it to the rear brake light coming down the column and it works but then it becomes a brake light too.
In that case it's most likely your Ford's "multifunction switch", the turn/hazard/headlight flasher/windshield washer/wiper control. There are so many cheap little switch contacts in there that it's not surprising that they fail. There are also a lot of variations so you'll need to get the part number from a Ford RV/Truck dealer and then you can get it less expensively online. Mine failed so that everything worked but hazard and I got one from Rock Auto for around $90, about half the dealer price.

Clicky to Google's cache of an ad offering it for $5,100 (something fishy about that price).

RE: Fleetwood Porch Light

Most Fleetwoods used a Bargman porch light available at most RV stores and some NAPA.
Yep, that's what mine has, one of these. Most RV stores have them.

RE: Another Bad Fire - wonder what started this one?

Something burned pretty good between those two open compartments on the passenger side, right up to the roof line.

RE: Towing a Jeep Cherokee with Class A and Sterling?

As for tow bar height, Roadmaster (I think) says no more than 2" off center each way - meaning a total of 4".
Blue Ox says toad end up to 4" below RV hitch end, but not above the RV hitch, which makes sense to me. I have a gas class A and a (non Grand) Cherokee and need a 2" drop hitch to get within the 4" limit.
The Cherokee tows well but the non-disconnect front axle on the later models means there's a lot of stuff always turning around so the drag is more than other vehicles.

RE: 1999 Pace Arrow Vision Parts

MI Director is right. Bargman makes the lights on my 1998 Pace Arrow.
You might consider replacing both assemblies with LCD lights. I replaced all of my marker lights but have not done the tail lights yet. Bargman has the LCDs.
I think the vision has round lights, not the same square Bargman as our base PA's.
