RE: rental trailer

CW says they are aware of the situation and is forwarding to senior management. Give them some time and see what they say or have to offer you. Your talk of hiring a lawyer will only cause them to end negotiations immediately and then you'll be FORCED to hire a lawyer.

RE: Prices for a new roof.. Who knew?!

I don't see anything wrong with the OP's letter to the business. As another member said, it might even do the business a service letting them know why. As a small business owner I know I would rather know than not know why a potential customer chose a competetor. I would have added to his letter my intentions of supporting small, local businesses; even to the point of paying slightly more and being aware of the higher costs that small businesses face.

RE: We finally made a purchase!!

NADA claims the dry weight of your TT is 4700 lbs. That might be a good number to start figuring from if you add propane, water, options, etc.

RE: So how fast can you tow your trailer?

Oh lighten up. The OP is not suggesting we all go and try to break the sound barrier while towing. It was simply a lead in to his post about a towing land speed record. Some of you have absolutely no tolerance of others much less a sense of humor.

RE: Have a 2007 or newer diesel and deleting. Think again.

The expurts are at it again. I've read a lot of good, accurate information in this thread. If you disagree, either state why or keep your immature comments to yourself.

RE: changing gear ratio? myth?

Very expensive too since you have a 4x4.

RE: Have a 2007 or newer diesel and deleting. Think again.

Diesel trucks that are not equipped with emission controls known as “diesel particulate filters” emit excess particulate matter (PM). When running, trucks without these types of controls leave behind a trail of dark, black smoke. What a load of BS! Just about every diesel made since the mid 80s runs fairly clean. Nothing like the black smoke put out by class 8 trucks in the 70s and prior. My pre-DPF 2006 runs clean.

RE: LED Lighting under awning

For those that have attached them to the trailer below the awning is there any issues with them attracting flying insects? Think its a great idea on the trailer as opposed to the awning but around here there isn't many nights your not fighting off the mosquito's during the summer and this might make it difficult to get into the trailer wihtout a swarm coming in with you. I have done exactly what the OP is looking to do. My LED's have been on my awning roller for over a year now with great results. No problems with rolling them up, and no damaged LEDs. All I have to do when I arrive at the campground is put the awning out and plug the pigtail at the end of my roller to the LED controller and 12v DC adapter. There is a remote so I can change the color, brightness, or program the lights to change/strobe, all from my chair. As far as attracting bugs, I find that any light will attract bugs. I have tried making the lights a yellow/orange color similar to the porch light, but it still acts as a beacon for every flying insect around. With the lights on, the insects will land on the underside of the awning or the wall of the camper. At first this was a problem since the bugs would fly inside anytime someone opened the door. But now I just aim a fan at the door so that at least they don't land in that area, and thus don't fly in when entering/exiting the camper.

RE: 2002 Chevy Express 3500

According to the Owners Manual for a 2002 Chevy Express G3500 with the 5.7 liter engine and 3.73 axle ratio, you're rated to tow 6300 lbs with a GCWR of 12,000 lbs. Link - Go to page 223 of the PDF file (4-34 of the manual). If you were to change out the rear axle ratio, you'd gain 1500 lbs of towing capacity. As far as LAdams talking about being "legal", there is no such thing. Until 2008, no standards existed for coming up with tow capacities, and no two manufacturers use the same method. In 2008, SAE developed Practice J2807 which set standards that were to be followed by vehicle manufacturers by 2013. Link

RE: Fleetwood TT's

Will someone please explain what entry level is??? How do I know what it looks like??? Is it heaver??? Lighter??? Or is it just a price point when you mention entry level??? If so where is the price cut-off for entry level??? If an entry level trailer is equipped exactly the same as a mid-level trailer, is it still entry level??? While I know quality cost, I also know cost doesn’t equal quality… This is a good point JJ. What is entry level? The last few times I was at an RV show I looked at TTs and FWs from the cheapest to the most expensive. Aside from the different features (outdoor kitchen, toy hauler, indoor fireplace, etc.) most of them looked like they were made of the same cheap materials on the inside. So why the $40k difference in price?

RE: treated wood question

I never tried this, but what if your wrapped it in the cling wrap that you use to cover dishes. It should seal the moisture in and at least slow warping for a few days.

RE: Now this is a tow Vehicle

That SUV looks way too small to be pulling that triple axle trailer and boat.

RE: KIndle fire HD vs I pad 2 and others Help!!

IMHO, nothing beats the iPad. The iPad 3 has the hi-def display, but I'd take any iPad over the other tablets.

RE: Which Ford Truck for my Trailer

With the right engine and gear ratio (V8 and no less than 3.73 ratio), a 1/2 ton truck will pull that trailer just fine. Of course as CB said, if you think you might want to upgrade to a larger trailer in the next few years, it will be cheaper to purchase the right truck now.

RE: garage ramp door

Just a thought... Could you bolt/screw/weld a plate of flat iron or SS to the end of the ramp to give it the added weight you need to keep it down? This way as the springs lose their tension over time you could remove the additional weight.

RE: Floor fixed - Follow up

What make/model camper? It looks just like a Sportsman Ultra-Lite 22" I used to have, and performed the exact same repair on. 2006 KZ Frontier 2809. The repair was not too bad. The leak came through the lag bolts from the bottom awning support. The hardest part was the fact the plywood was tacked/nailed into the aluminum frame under the walls. If it was not for the fact the wood was completely rotted it would have been very difficult getting that section out. That's what I figured. It looks like that model has the rear bed slide, just like my KZ Sportsman did. Nice job on the repairs.
