RE: ethanol treatment & generators

Yeah. Don't use ethanol-containing gasoline. This ^ Good luck with "this". I don't know where you are in Wa. but in my area there is a station in Issaquah (Grange) or you can go to the marina in Kenmore. Otherwise there are a couple of places in E. Wa. but all other stations have ethanol mixed in. Here is a list of E free sources Pure gas Good luck, Scott I understand that availability of 100% gas can be a regional thing. Luckily, I live in Oklahoma. We have plenty of 100% gas available. It's all I buy.

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

With Pex, you have household fittings and household in-line water filters that can handle the higher PSI water pressure. WoodGlue Fixed for you! ^^ I don't really appreciate that. WoodGlue I considered the fact that you may not. But I proceeded anyway. Nobody died.

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

I carry one, but never use it... As I am never connected to the city supply provided by the park. I fill my tank (either at home or at the park spiggot) and use it exclusively.

RE: Traveling in Tornado prone areas

I was raised to be an expert about: Tornadoes and basements, tornadoes and roadside ditches, tornadoes and school kids covering the back of their necks while hovering under their desks, tornadoes and opening all of one's house windows ahead of time, tornadoes and freeway underpasses, tornadoes and how slowly they travel relative to how fast RVs can travel, AND .... driving perpendicular to the direction of travel of tornadoes to easily get away from them. Well there ya have it... The expert has spoken LOL

RE: Progressive RV Insurance Scam

Here is one for you.> NATIONWIDE Both Michigan and South Carolina, where my wife crashed our brand new used JEEP, totaling both the car and herself. Have laws that are much alike. IF you own an automobile, and it is insured, that insurance covers a new purchase for a period of days to enable you to properly insure it, it also covers rentals. Guess what. Nationwide tells me that my RV's policy did NOT cover that 4 day old JEEP (2 business days). Right.. Oh Mr, Insurance Regulatory Commissioner... Will be writing that letter soon as some more dust settles. So what is it you're saying? Nationwide behaved outside the written terms of your agreement., ? Or within the terms of your agreement?

RE: Traveling in Tornado prone areas

At least with tornadoes - they come along with massive weather fronts that are easy to learn about over radio/TV, easy to see visually, and easy to drive perpendicular to and get away from in an RV. It is CLEAR to me that you have absolutely NO IDEA what you are talking about. Axle man: Absolute statements are almost always wrong- and be careful with the all caps. P-nick lives in Oklahoma- you think he might know a little? Tornadoes in OK TEND to be big and visible. Evidence is that traffic helicopter fiming this big one. His statement has a lot of truth- I would agree that he should have used the word "usually". And they do form suddenly, can be hidden by rain, can occur at night, and to BREAK CAMP and drive away probably is a bad idea...but if you are on the interstate, listening to the radio, there is a valid argument to drive away- preferably perpendicular to the path. "P-nick" location indicates Santa Cruz. I am unfamiliar with Santa Cruz, OK. I am however, familiar with Santa Cruz, CA. I have no idea what he ~does~ know... But by his statements, I do know what he does not know.

RE: Progressive RV Insurance Scam

Instead of picking apart the OP's usage of the word "scam" and telling him how to better read his Progressive RV insurance policy, why don't some of you chime in with suggestions as to better RV insurance companies for the OP to check into that have coverage with higher personal effects coverage limits. If he's not going to read the policy provided by Progressive, what would make anyone believe he'd read the policy provided by State Farm / Allstate / Farmers / Geico / USAA / etc... ?

RE: Progressive RV Insurance Scam

Tough crowd here Surfride, but I tend to go with you on this one. If its not scamming, it sure is intentionally misleading if it states in the declaration "Replecement value for personal effects, and then in another sections stating a $500 limit. But hey if people here enjoy getting ripped, who am I to complain. So thank you for the heads up. BTW I think an attorney would have a field day with this one. Outside of the big evil medical/pharmaceutical organizations, big evil oil companies, and the big evil banks.... Big evil insurance is probably next in line to be one of the most heavily regulated industries out there... If any of you honestly think ALL of the information necessary for a policy holder to make an informed decision is somehow or another NOT available, you're just being silly. And it's just someone who's had their pride hurt who could think that their personal attorney could go toe-to-toe with the TEAM of attorneys who made certain that ALL information was clearly spelled out to the consumer.... At least a consumer who has the common sense to be informed ;)

RE: Recommendations for RV Garage?

....@SolidAxleDurango - We also plan to have a drive-thru garage, with doors on front and back, as this building will straddle a crushed asphalt driveway that goes from the front to the back of our house. Ours will be much narrower than yours, however... Currently leaning toward 12x14' insulated doors with 16' interior height. Still contemplating the length and width. Some of that decision may be based on site considerations: setbacks, a ditch easement we need to work around, etc. Anyone have any pricing thoughts? Cost/sq. ft. ranges? Right now I'm mentally in the 20x40' ballpark, but need to draw it up and use a tape outside to see how it fits my vision. An added cost is that we'd prefer to match the exterior of the house, so we'd probably do stucco/stone instead of a steel building. I'm afraid to find out how much that will add... This layout planner works pretty dang well.... Free and if you sign up for an account, you can save your ideas... Export them to JPG (like I did above).... And they don't spam you in any way. http://www.cbstructuresinc.com/layout-planner My only immediate though about your plan is for the future RV... Or for resale... Soooo many RVs are in the 40' range that at a minimum, I'd make the shop 45' or 50' long.

RE: Measuring grade on hills

This is a 55 mph hill.... Or... This is a 35 mph hill..... Or.... This is a 45 mph hill... Other than that, I don't see the need to measure it. As long as I get to the other side, it's all good.

RE: Recommendations for RV Garage?

Oh.... This past winter wasn't too terribly cold here... Interior of shop never got below 40*F despite many lows below freezing (some mornings down to low teens).

RE: Fried A/C, 2 TV's and micro wave-my fault or electricians.

I have 2007 Safari Simba, 38'gas. It has 50 amp service. I asked my electrician to install a 30 amp outlet at my home so I could plug it in the night before a trip and cool down refrigeration and run a/c. When I plugged it in today turned on a/c heard a weird noise and smelled smoke. Unplugged immediately. Started generator and found front a/c unit not working, 2 TV's and micro-wave not working. Called electrical company. The electrician on call happened to be the electrician that installed the outlet. When I described problem he said,"that's not a 120 is it. I was told to put in a 220." When I ordered the outlet I did not say anything about 120 or 220, it never crossed my mind, to me it was common sense. Obviously I'm not an electrician, but I would be interested in hearing from a couple to let me know if this is all my fault or does the electrician bear some of the responsibility? Here is my standard reply to EVERY electrical RV question; http://www.myrv.us/electric/ BOL, I like how in red print, it says to "call a professional" LOLz.... I guess the OP got what they deserved ?
