RE: Alfa Leisure See Ya SYF35RL Slide motor and seal

Alfateers
14620 Rancho Vista Drive - Fontana, CA 92335
Ph: (909) 428-6775 | Fx: (909) 428-1264
These are the service techs from the old Alfa factory.
We have had good luck with phone advice from them if you are not close to them.
We had slide problems too and they helped DH troubleshoot several things after the local service shop messed things up completely. Be sure to upgrade the wiring to heavy duty battery cable wiring. It made a huge difference for our slide after everything else was fixed.

RE: Wifi...................

Free wifi is for email & news. Not Games! They need to pay for wifi if they are going to play online or skype.

RE: So just how did you come up with your screen name here???

Back when I was a teenager, my parents dream was to own a tiny travel trailer when they retired. They eventualy owned a Serro Scotty they named Someday. Now I am retired and a fulltimer. So my time is "Someday is Now".

RE: Fellow workampers

We have had it happen to us too. Can you survive by keeping your mouth shut & doing it the bosses way until your time is up? If not, write it all down, give one copy to the boss and have him sign & date a copy you keep. Then hit the road, save your stress levels & your health.

RE: good sam insurance

GMAC(GOOD SAM INS) does not include towing in their policy. We just went round this issue in August with our units. They want you to buy the Good Sam Emergancy Road Service package. We already had it for other reasons so it worked out for us.

RE: slideout dragging on carpet

We have had the same problem. The wiring for the slide motors was not heavy duty. Once we upgraded the wiring, the slides worked better & did not drag as much. The teflon covers on the rollers also had worn & twisted, so we managed to cut them off before they ripped the carpet or tore the kitchen flooring. Now only have 2 rub spots to clean after a move in the kitchen and nothing tore up.

RE: Cat diets and ilness........

We lost our last 2 boys to diabetes. One was allergic to chicken in any form. Onece we eliminated the chicken in any form from their diets, they both did much better. Finding a cat kibble not filled with Chicken by-products and grain took a lot of research. There is not much out there. Our girl gets canned cat food that is mostly meat. A small amount of kibble for snacks, fresh spinach to replace the green grass she does not get as an inside only cat and salmon at least 4-5 times a week hopefully will stear her away from diabetes. The grain in catfood is bad for them, also peas & corn. All are full of sugar.

RE: Big Rig Accessibility

The Escapees forum has an HDT site with a link to a reader created website that has campgrounds-RV parks that readers have tried that fit the larger HDTs & 5ths.

RE: Williston Crossing FL

Williston Crossing is not that far from Gainesvile or Ocala. Good shopping at both towns. Gainesville has museums and theaters with all the activities associated with a major university town. Ocala has Silver Springs and all the horsey events.

RE: $300.00+ jump in GMAC CW insurance

Will be going with GMAC thru Good Sam. Had a quote from "Allied" that was lower but did not cover awnings so no go. Also had quote from "Blue Sky" but was leary of them because the lady said they did not cover trucks over 25999. Our HDT may be close on that depending on the amount of fuel in the tanks.

RE: GS Platinum RS A cover towing

Thanks Zach for the link. After reading the brochure, really feel I need a further talk with the agent. Sounds like not everybody is on the same page regarding various programs & benefits.

RE: GS Platinum RS A cover towing

My note to Zach:
In the process of buying our RV insurance for the next year. We have GS RA Platinum already in place. Was told by GS Ins agent that we would not need to purchase towing with a RV ins policy. That GS RA would cover towing under any and all circumstances. I am skeptical.
GS RA # ********.
Thanks for any info you could share. Those on the forum would also be interested.
To the forum readers;
Hopefully we will all find out if I have been mis-informed or that we actually have a good deal with our towing from GS RA.

RE: New at this, have a few questions..

One thing all of us need to be strict with our "employers" is the amount of hours we are willing to work for a site and how many hours in a day we are willing to work in a day to accomplish this. We are not "spring chickens" any more and to work beyond our known personal limts is not fair to ourselves, our spouses, or our families. If more of us would stand up for our selves, we would all be better off.

RE: Hand rails in the shower

Our Alpha came with a grab rail in the shower. Plastic & fake brass. That brass peeled so we replaced it with a chrome rail. Now that is peeling after 3 years. Will have to replace again as we really like having it available. Will pick up a stainless steel one from HD or Lowes this fall to replace it. We added our own in the throne room by locating a stud in the wall and attaching there. Price: not cheap, peace of mind: priceless.

RE: $300.00+ jump in GMAC CW insurance

Reasearching other companies now. We are full timers with less than 7,000 miles per year average on our vehicles. This is so frustrating, an excellent driving record for years for both of us, no liquor consumption, pay our bills on time, & well experienced with the equipment we use. Since the insurance is nation wide, why does the state we home base in have any thing to do with the rate. Why not base it on the entire nation as a whole?

$300.00+ jump in GMAC CW insurance

Need an explanation of why insurance would jump more than $300.00 in a year Please. No accidents, no claims, no address changes, no rig changes.I have a month to make a decision so will be making a serious review and will hope for some serious imput from CW GMAC insurance. I do not expect the price to stay the same but feel the jump is way excessive.
Would appreciate a reply within a week.
Thanks
