RE: Chocking Tires

I always chock it.....here's why: If a child of mine were to release the parking brake by pushing in that nice yellow button on the dash, the levelers would automatically raise, leaving me with a rolling coach. Or at least that's the worst case scenario I've imagined!!

RE: Extended Towing

As those above, now that we've installed a charge line, back-to-back towing days no longer present a problem. I restart the car and run through the towing procedure at least every 8 hours, but usually more frequently. Easy to do at a fuel stop.

RE: Anyone gotten new RV tires in Boise, ID?

There's a bunch of Les Schwab locations, or Commercial Tire on 1900 South Cole Rd. No direct experience with any of them, though.

RE: Biuloxie Casino

We've stayed at the Casino Queen RV Park in downtown St. Louis and enjoyed it. Full service sites which are fully paved, if I remember correctly. Casino Queen

RE: Towing Advice

Depending on what year CRV, you might want a 12V charge wire installed with the hook-up harness. Ours is an 09 and I haven't added the wire so I use an underhood battery disconnect. Pulling the fuse or batt disconnect means resetting the clock and radio code. No big deal but it would be nice not to have to do this. The CRV tows like it's not there (except climbing hills) so it's nice to have a full time rear view cam. Norm Very good advice. I added the charging line last spring and am happy to avoid reprogramming the radio each time. I experienced a dead battery on a couple of long towing days that no longer appears to be an issue.

RE: 22.5 tires inflation

I suggest that you get your RV weighed then look up the weight charts for your particular tire. I errr on the side of caution and add 5 PSI.

RE: Sun is shining and camping is just around the corner!

It feels like today might be the first warm spring day here in Toronto....finally! Haven't seen the RV since putting it away October....can hardly wait! First trip in 2.5 weeks!

RE: Starting a diesel every 30 days.

I parked our RV at the end of October and will restart it next week for the first time. I've never started my stored vehicles over the winter and have yet to experience an issue. Previous RV was 11 years old and the PowerStroke Diesel was running strong when we sold it. This is our second winter storing the Cummins - I don't plan to treat it any differently.

RE: Ducted A/C vs Non-Ducted

Our previous RV (28ft Triple E Class C) was unducted and DW and I would cook in the rear bedroom while the kids froze on the front bed. As others have stated, it was also a lot noisier.

RE: Stone shield

We only have the mud flaps behind the tires. We definitely didn't want the full rigid flap across the rear. We went to Alaska and saw folks actually taking the full flap off saying it was causing rocks to fly on their toad. We had absolutely no damage for the whole trip. We boondock and get on gravel roads constantly. Our 2004 Jeep looks new. X2 for nothing but mudflaps. Our CRV has zero rock chips.

RE: Which dinghy tow vehicle is suggested?

On the Honda CRV the FMCA 1013 towing guide says, there is a special procedure that you need to do every 8 hours of towing to avoid transmission damage-see owners manual. What does this mean Thanks Don On our 2009 CRV, this means after every 8 hours of towing you need to start the vehicle and run through the pre-towing steps again, which consists of running through all the forward gear positions one at a time...stopping in NEUTRAL. It's critical that you NEVER shift from REVERSE to NEUTRAL and then proceed with towing. You MUST shift from DRIVE to NEUTRAL. You're also not supposed to tow the CRV any faster than 65MPH, which (for us) is fast enough.

RE: Honda CRV battery

When I initially setup our 2009 CRV for towing - I experienced a dead battery on a number of longer (6+ hr) towing days, after which I starting pulling the radio fuse. Last spring I added a charge line and stopped pulling the fuse...and my problem appears to be solved.

RE: Quad Bunk Class A

How about a Jayco Seneca 37FS WITHOUT the entertainment center, which leaves you with a huge overhead bed...plus the bunks and rear bedroom.

RE: To fill or not to fill

I make sure the toad and Motorhome both need gas when we cross into the United States as gas is way less expensive there. Ditto! We cross the border southbound with as little as possible, and northbound with freshly filled tanks!

RE: Michigan salesperson recommendation?

TerryTown RV in Grand Rapids has an excellent reputation... +1 We purchased our Embark there. Great dealership to work with.

RE: What is YOUR Toad? (Four Wheels Down - not Dolly Tow)

I tow a 2009 Honda CRV. Installed the charging line after the fact to keep the battery alive on those long towing days. We are happy with it.

RE: One more DUMB question ???

The province I live in has no requirement...my toad is without brakes. Given my available carrying capacity, I just don't see the point in risking one of these systems frying my CRV's brakes. If I was towing with a small RV, I'd consider it. Click here for the reference. Can't get more clear than that.
