RE: trailer lenth

I 69 this month and for the last several years I've noticed it seems when when I gain a year in age the Trailer grows a foot in lenth especially when backing into a site. ;) We finally switched to a motorhome last year. So did we. Even tho I loved my little trailer pictured, I have to say the MH is much easier.

RE: Crock pot beef roast

I just put the roast in the Crock pot and add a can of dice tomatoes usually the ones that have garlic and onions. If you use the plain just add any spices you like.

RE: Inflatables?

Can you rent a boat for a day. Last time I checked you could rent a fishing boat for about 40.00 a day plus fuel.

RE: Infuriating Tidbit

I might be wrong but I was told that getting a lot of STORE credit cards is a bad idea. Also you can't rent a car without a credit card. We also have to sign a credit card when we take a cruise or put up I think it was 2000.00 cash.

RE: Infuriating Tidbit

I made sure both of my daughters had a credit card as soon as they could. We all have one where you earn points. Each month they paid the balance in full. My oldest daughter bought her first house and didn't have a problem getting a low mortgage rate. She also didn't have to pay deposits on any of her utilities.

RE: Wonderbag

Wrapping the pot in newspapers and placing it inside a crate while on the road will do same. Your dinner will be continue to slowly cook. Important: this technique requires thinly sliced meat or small cubes of it. Plus you were able to read local news and have fire starter too. You could put it in one of those Styrofoam coolers instead of the crate

RE: need new mattress

Air Mattress We have had this for 5 years. No problems and the best sleep ever. We had a water bed before this but this is so much better. We bought the box spring that went with it.

RE: Pizza Spaghetti Casserole

I have made this recipe for years: SPAGHETTI PIZZA PIE 8 0z spaghetti, coooked, drained 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 lb. gound beef, cooked, drained 2 cups spaghetti sauce 1 pkg.(8 oz) shredded mossarella cheese TOSS cooked spaghetti, parmesan cheese and egg. Place in 9 inch pie plate. Press along bottom and sides to form crust. MIX cooked meat and spaghetti sauce. Spread meat mixture over spaghetti crust. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. BAKE at 350 for 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting into wedges. Makes 8 servings. You can make up ahead of time and freeze. I have done this before and I also cook mine in the microwave.

RE: Die penniless!!!

I firmly believe in keeping old family properties IN the family for as long as possible, preferably forever. I'd talk to your family and maybe get all that set up in a trust right now. I'd also not go for a reverse mortgage. Extra cash...well that is something you'll have to figure out with the family. If you have 100 acres, are those acres being farmed or grazed for rent, which will indeed bring in cash. If the land is heavily timbered also consider having some of the tree harvested to make the land more fire safe and also bring in cash. Second this. I hope you will be able to do this.

RE: Crock pot Scalloped potatoes???

First I’ll be truthful and say I usually use boxed scalloped potatoes. I’ve tried many recipes for scalloped potatoes from scratch with a white sauce base and they usually curdle on me. But I have had good look with a can of cheddar cheese or nacho cheese soup and a half can of milk with 5-6 medium potatoes. You can doctor it up with some onion or whatever. I usually have better luck with russet potatoes than red potatoes because they seem to get softer. Cooking time will be right around 5 hours. Agree I like the box ones

RE: Sound of Music

Turns out, the real Von Trapp family wasn't so hot on the idea of Carrie Underwood playing Maria in "The Sound of Music Live!" Myle Von Trapp Derbyshire, the Great Grandson of Maria Von Trapp expressed his dissappointment in NBC's casting to ABC News. It’s just upsetting that this could potentially be the final broadcast of our story,” he said. “And although her voice is amazing, she doesn’t have acting experience ... It’s just the overall image, she’s a country star, she won ‘American Idol,’ she’s very public in kind of a tabloid way.” Derbyshire, a 28-year-old New Yorker, said the family got together and chose their own Maria: Anne Hathaway. I like Carrie Underwood but I agree with the family, she wasn't the best Choice.

RE: Cell Phones

You never miss anything until you have it. Now I would not go anywhere without my cell phone. I feel safer with it. I like the idea of having contact with family and friends all the time. If I were in that line I would have spoken up to the rude person. Emergency is one thing but chit chat can wait. Don't blame the cashiers as they can't do anything but every person in line should have.
