RE: Electrical question...

yes, having the fridge automatically choose dc when it can't find anything else is a pain. I can force it to stay on LP while we are driving and then if it blows out,,, oh well. I know I have an isolator because: 1) I ordered one, 2) there is a sticker there indicating that the unit is so equiped and 3) I called lance and they verified that I have one based on my vin. I suppose it could be that there really isn't one there anyway, or that its wired wrong, but we will see what happens when they check it out.

RE: Electrical question...

New batteries for the truck coming on Friday. We will see if that fixes things. I'm also having a different rv dealership that sells Lance check it out next week. I trust their service department so that should get to the bottom of it.

RE: Electrical question...

The camper is a 2013 lance 1050s. Don't know about the separator. And the fridge is norcold. Thanks again for the replies. Oh and yes there is a fuse on the 8 gauge wire coming off the battery.

RE: Electrical question...

Thanks Bill T. The fridge blows out once in a while, and the fridge switches to DC, but the truck running should keep the camper battery charged even though the fridge is pulling from it, right? It seems like the electrical is backwards. When the truck wouldnt start after 2 days of dry camping, a guy helped me out and put his portable battery jumper unit on one of my batteries. That alone wouldn't allow the truck to start. It wasn't until I turned on the Generator in the camper, and let it run for a few minutes, that the truck started up. Thanks again for your thoughts.

RE: Electrical question...

I have an 04 Chevy diesel drw. I should add that the truck batteries are still the originals from 2004 but I'm buying new ones in the am. I've never had a battery issue with this truck so I didn't even realize they were the original batteries.

Electrical question...

I have a 2013 lance that came with a battery separator. When I first got the camper the dealer hadn't installed the 8 gauge wire from the truck battery back to the camper so if I parked it without plugging the camper in, the truck batteries were dead after a few days. After I had gotten that wire installed, I thought I was all set until this past weekend when I dry camped for 2 nights. The morning after both truck batteries were to low to start the truck. The camper battery was fine as I had run the generator here and there to top it off. The other odd thing that happened was on my way home, the fridge switched over to "DC" after the pilot blew out and the camper battery completely drained down even though it was hooked to a running truck. Any guesses on what the problem here is? I called Lance and they said it was probably the truck wiring. I am starting to wonder if the dealer knew how to wire the harness correctly for a truck camper. We had a travel trailer prior to this and there were no electrical issues using this truck, everything just worked as it should.

RE: Winterizing??

I've always done the way they show in the video (although i releived pressure on the line first so I didn't break the spring), but its tricky and one year I broke the little spikot and had to have it replaced. Anyway, this year I got smart and used the hand pump gagdit to pump antifreeze into that line from the outside, and then I use the bypass/waterpump to put antifreeze thru the rest of the lines. Worked great and no risk of messing up the city water line.

RE: RV Specific Toilet Paper?

Just had a problem in our 1 month old rv where the black water drain valve would not close all the way. After multiple times flushing the tank and even letting fresh water sit in the valve, with the valve open, I could not get the valve to close completely. Took it into the dealer and it was TP that had jammed inside the valve. I've never had a probem with the tanks in any way prior to this (with 3 other rv's over 15 years), and I always had used scott 1-ply TP. I dont' know what caused the problem this time, but I am switching to the rv toilet paper and using plenty of h2o in the tank.

RE: Camping Life magazine tests the new Lance 1191

I have the 2013 Lance 1050s and as far as the nosecap deflecting bugs goes, i think it probably does a good job aerodynamicly as my MPG is right at 13, but the bugs hit the front of the camper, go splat, and the wind takes the bug guts and splashes them all over the front window of the truck. We were on the highway, and I couldn't figure out what all the white splattering on the top of my windsheild was until I got home and saw some pretty large bugs splatted on the front of the nosecap.

RE: Camper drained my truck batteries, but why??

Hopefully its not the isolator because the whole camper is only 1 month old and a 2013, so hopefully they put a good isolator in it!

RE: Camper drained my truck batteries, but why??

Actually since I spoke with lance I found a sticker on the outside of the camper, next to the plug that connects it to the truck stating the unit is equipped with the battery isolator. I really know nothing about wiring so It makes it tough.

RE: Camper drained my truck batteries, but why??

Thank for all the replies! I called Lance customer service today and they said that my specific unit does have a battery separator installed so this should not have happened. He suggested that perhaps the dealer who wired my truck did not install the 8 gauge wire that is required by lance. It should go from the positive terminal of the truck battery back to the plug. I opened the hood but did not see this extra wire coming off the batteries. Will be calling the dealer in the am.

Camper drained my truck batteries, but why??

Hi all, last week I decided that I didn't want to leave my Lance TC plugged in all the time since I had shut the fridge off and cleaned it out. So I unplugged the camper from the shore power and pulled the battery disconnect thing. All the little lights like the lp detector were out so I thought everything was fine and my battery would stay charged. The truck and camper were still connected together. Well I come out today to move the truck, and the truck batteries and camper battery are all near dead. I don't get it? I had unplugged the backup cam in the truck too. Any guesses as to what happened?? Thanks I have a 04 chevy 3500 drw diesel, and a 2013 Lance 1050s.

RE: MA to western MD - any restrictions?

Well, I-95 to 78 runs you across the George Washington Bridge... dont do it!!! That bridge is a standstill traffic jam at 3am! If you cross north of there over the Tappan-Zee, you will have a much easier time getting around NYC. Also, I'm sure you know, but you can't take a trailer on any road labeled "Parkway". The bridges on them are very low. I think a pop-up would be fine.
