RE: how to clen battery overflow

When you cleaned it, did you then clean it thoroughly with baking soda to neutralize the acid? A must.
Rustoleum makes (perhaps made) a Rust Reformer that will convert any remaining rust into a paintable surface. Do not get the plastic containers. If one uses a little or just has on the shelve for when needed, it turns into rock. Cannot tell you how many dollars I have dumped in the trash.
Today I found a spray container of Rustoleum Rust Reformer. While I have not used it yet, I feel sure it will work. I just do not know if it will turn into rock in the spray can. After it reformer dries, put on some paint to finish the job.
I will add one more thing. Have your batteries checked. If their is a dead cell, even a smart charger will boil over the batteries. This happened to us with a new motorhome. Our dealer did not find this. It took the manufacturer. One dead cell out of 24.
On our current motorhome, I keep a maintenance charger on the chassis battery. I plan to do this with the house also.

I will not explain the reasons but may sit months without use. There enough parasitic drain that it would not crank. No problem since getting one of the little maintenance chargers.
I just got a second maintenance charger for the house battery. I plan to hard wire quick connect receptacle so I do not have to go in the battery compartment when I want to put it on and off.

First, we have some friends that used to go up every summer with a pickup and travel trailer. Would stay for at least a month - fishing and canning fish (that had to be expensive fish). They never thought it a problem.
Second, our first and last trip in a motor home was in a new Class A. Others have no problem but for I did not like the trip up. Perhaps after a few dings it would have bothered me less. I tried to see if we could ferry back rather than drive back. As I recall, we needed a reservation and would have to wait some time to return. Perhaps the in-state ferries are not that way. I would check on this.
Third, take your time. Once we got somewhere, been there and done/seen that. I was ready to go. My wife still has a lot to say about that and I wish I had been such a hurry. The wear and tear on the RV would have been the same either way. One may not go that way again.

I think it just depends on the individual. Our previous motorhomes were Class A's (with the exception of a B for short period between the A's and C). I feel just a bit more comfortable driving the C. Some may be the shorter length but I tend to think I like the lower driving position. There has not been a lot of difference with the exception of our first Class A which had a short wheelbase - it was like an amusement park ride. Of course that is just me.

Somewhere I have read that ethonol reduces MPG by 10%. I figure if one can get pure gas for 10% more than the ethonol fuel price, one breaks even and removes damage caused by ethonol. I have never had to pay that much differential - usually about ten cents per gallon.
I think the Class C mileage is increased by more than 10% but I cannot say that for sure given no ethonol fuel cannot always be found. For a particular 140 mile trip, driving the same way with cruse control, I KNOW my Nissan Frontier gets 15 MPG with ethonol fuel. Using no ethonol fuel I get 20 MPG for the same trip.
The Nissan, Class C, and one car can sit extended periods with no use. Mileage is not a factor. These alway sit with a full tank of no ethonol to prevent damage to the fuel system, etc.
I am glad our farmers benefit from the higher corn prices but I cannot understand how this is an eviromental benefit when at best estimates one burns the same amount of fossile fuels plus the ethonol to go X number of miles.
The damage to small engines is another story. I have one blower that will not even run on fuel with ethonol.
No ethonol fuel may be a way to reduce fuel costs.

I really liked the comments/reviews I read on the Wilson. I got one of the mobile units and the in house office accessary package. This was for a camp in a rural area. It actually blocked the one weak bar we had on our BlackBerry's and did not increase one bar my daughter had on her IPhone.
Understand, I am not trying to put Wilson down. It obviously has worked for some. What you do need to know is that, per Wilson, the unit we purchased will not work with BlackBerry's - at least the one we have. I think they are Edges. Just check before you purchase.
Off subject but my daughter purchased a little device that plugs into a wall outlet and provides a wireless network for our laptops - works great. Never knew there was such. This is over the air - we have no land line. The cell phone provider is providing the service.

IF I AM READING POSTS CORRECTLY, THE NORCOLD REINFORCEMENTS ARE ONLY FOR THE LOWER DOOR HINDGE. DO THE TOP HINGES NEVER BREAK?

reenforcing Norcold refrigerator doors

I have read the stories about Norcold's infamous defective refrigerator doors. I have read how some have repaired the hinges.
We used our Class C to live in while my wife took extended medical treatments in AR. Hopefully that will not be the case again but if so we cannot afford to have a broken hinge. It will not be just an irritation and inconvience.
I have looked at the door and do not see how to disassemble or remove hinges. I would appreciate it if someone can tell me how to reinforce it before it breaks. Also, is there an alternative if unit is replaced.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I was told and think true from experience that the longer the wheelbase the more stable. Get the longest wheelbase available for the size motorhome you want.

Age is not being kind with my memory but I will share what I think I remember. We had a new Monaco. We would fill the water tank and as we departed, the water would start flowing. Embarassing becouse someone might think it was something else.
As I recall, the overflow line was terminated lower than the top of the tank - probably very low to dump the water below the chasis so as not to spray the underside. Some way, the overflow line extended down into the tank about half way. What was happening was that a shift in water would force some out the overflow and create a siphon. Water would continue to flow until the tank was about half full.
As I recall, the solution was to reposition the overflow to where did not extend into the tank so far - perhaps an inch.
Just a thought.
