RE: New RAM Van

We just bought a Kia Rio here in Texas. So far, I'm really impressed. They're not the same Kia that they were a few years ago. This car is built really well, tight steering, alloy wheels, alot of nice features. And the price was still thousands below a similar Ford. Anyways, the point being, I'm sure this new van (like other "cube" vehicles) will find a niche and probably do pretty well, like was said...especially in the delivery business. I'm glad Dodge is doing something to keep up.

RE: Decided on the Ford!!!

Well done!!! FWIW, I also have the 5.4 and it's fantastic. Super reliable and a total workhorse. You should get many years of good service out of it. Enjoy!! Pete

RE: DOES IT HAVE TO BE A 5.4 ?

I'd go with a 3/4 ton or 1 ton with either the V10 or 5.4 for that weight. I have a 250 w/the 5.4 and I love it. It would tow that without much problem, but your mpg would probably hurt a little. But, it's a great motor and has been very reliable. I love it and would totally recommend it for your situation. Pete

Either way.....too much. More money than I would pay.

RE: Ford 6.4 owners

Blind fold yourself and go for a ride. What kind of advice is THIS???? Why don't you tell the poor guy to drive off a cliff too??? LOL:p

RE: 2009 Motor Trend Truck of The Year

I love Ford.....I love Dodge.....but I HATE Motor Trend. I don't believe anything I read. When it comes to putting down the money, I'll be the one doing the testing. :)

RE: Saw an F150 Raptor last weekend!

I am sure there is, i just dont see any use for it in New england...unless you are going to take it up to the desert of maine...lol. I don't know....you guys usually get a good amount of snowfall, right? If so, I could see the Raptor being a great truck to get thru the heavy, wet stuff that the NE states get. We're starting to see them alot down here in Texas Truck Country. I like the color schemes and the look of the truck itself. It'll probably sell more to people who'll never use it for more than grocery shopping, but either way, I'd like one. LOL

RE: Hey Dodge guys!!! Check this one out!!!!

You have to admit, though...it is a cool conversation piece. Nice looking truck with that 8' bed. IIRC, isn't Dodge going to start offering an 8' with it's megacab configuration soon? Pete

RE: Tow 9k lb mid profile 5th wheel with F-250 5.4L?

well, I dont have any complaints about towing with my 5.4. It gets about the same as my POSTITAN did, but does it more reliably. I completely agree. The reliability of the 5.4 is without question. Mine has started EVERY single time, even in the severest of weather. And even though I don't PULL alot of heavy loads, when I lived in Cleveland, I PUSHED alot of heavy snow piles. That engine was superb. So, even though I might not recommend it for this particular situation of pulling a 9k lb 5er, I would totally recommend for occasional heavy pulling and regular around town driving. No doubt. Pete

RE: Tow 9k lb mid profile 5th wheel with F-250 5.4L?

A co-worker friend has 179,xxx on his '03 2500HD Hemi Ram and it still runs like a new one. I just don't want to be out on I-10 with the 5th wheel when it throws it's retirement party! Hahaha. Yeah, that's a good point. IIRC, you also had a Cummins at one point, right? Would you consider going back to one of those? I doubt you'd be having this discussion if you had one under the hood. Those engines are just built amazingly well. Either way, I'm sure you'll make the right call. Pete

RE: Tow 9k lb mid profile 5th wheel with F-250 5.4L?

5.4L for towing in a 2/4 ton truck....big disappointment. It is not enough engine. Ken Are you kidding?? The 5.4 is alot of engine for a 1/2 ton truck. Or as you put it, a 2/4 ton truck. LOL :S

RE: Tow 9k lb mid profile 5th wheel with F-250 5.4L?

I have the 5.4 and love it, but I'd probably agree with the others. I don't think it's made to really pull that much load. Once in a while, it's fine. It's a great daily commuter or work truck, believe me. I love mine and it was awesome at pushing snow. But, towing that much weight (especially if you go all over the place) you may wish you'd gone another route. Pete

RE: New Ram heavy duty

Strange, I've not read any automotive journalist who shares your opinion. In fact, most have stated it is the best interior ever in a Dodge pickup, and better than the current offerings from other manufacturers. Better than some by a wide margin in fact. Yeah, and we all know how well respected automotive journalists are. They always get it right.:R

Not necessarily a tow vehicle, but impressive nonetheless

Hey everyone, In man's never ending quest to burn whatever precious remaining fuel this planet may have to give us, they develop this beauty!! 22,000,000 HP. Just edges out the new Ford diesel, if I'm not mistaken. LOL!! :E Pete

RE: Memories of one fine real compact pickup

Great little truck. I'd be interested, if I didn't have 2 daughters (2 and 4) who are eating me out of house and home!! If they get much bigger, I might need a school bus. Sheez!!!

RE: Aging tow vehicle -- When is it too old to tow?

700 to 1000 a month for payments on a new vehicle.Lets add this up 800 a month x 6 = 4200.00. to me its a know brainer keep the old till it just has to many probs but 4200 could fix alot on a paid off truck!! Let's try that math again, shall we?? 800 a month x 6= 4800.00. Just FYI. LOL Pete

RE: First summer towing with Sienna

Interesting....I can believe it, but like I said, I've seen some accidents that were pretty bad. And typically (not always, of course) the people in bigger vehicles (like SUVs and trucks) were usually standing or sitting on the side of the road when we arrived. Either way, it's an interesting discussion. Thanks for sharing!! I guess the best advice, in favor of either type of vehicle, is to just drive safe and stay focused. Pete

What does the "wide axle" provide? They don't mean they're getting rid of dually's, right?

RE: 3/4 ton for a daily drive - Stupid?? - True cost to drive??

As many have stated, I love driving my 3/4 ton for a daily driver. Admittedly, I have a gasser, but I love it nonetheless. I think you will too. Pete
