RE: Need help with hood locks - pictures included

Take a look at McMaster Carr web site under camlocks. Many to choose from. Terry

RE: Hand Guns

My family (DW and DD and I)just completed our CPL class. If nothing else it's a great eye opener. If done right, the class will teach you how to avoid the need to pull out a gun. You need to know how to be aware and alert to what is going on around you and how to avoid situations that could become confrontational. I highly recommend the class. If you do choose to go the gun route, remember pulling it out is ALWAYS the last resort, but knowing it's available can be comforting. If you don't have to pull it out theres a lot less paperwork and lawyers involved. If you do get a CPL, it makes purchasing and transporting much easier. Good luck.

RE: Driving with air conditioner

Almost never run the dash air. If it's warm, I fire up the generator and run house A/C. If it's really hot, I run both rooftop units.

RE: Help Chosing a Camera

The Canon Powershot cameras are worth a look. I have a couple friends with the SX-50 cameras and they are great but a bit on the bulky side. I bought the SX-150IS last year to take to Hawaii and had great results. Just bought another one last month for the metallurgy lab at work and they're now under $100. The great part is that I can keep it in a cargo pocket or in a small pouch on my belt. Take a look.

RE: Where do you locate your outside temp sensor?

Mine is fastened to the frame rail at the back of the RV, behind the propane storage area. It works fine except when I first get off the road when it picks up a lot of chassis heat. It's OK after a few hours.

RE: The story of Bear...and his eulogy

Thank you so much for sharing. Bear was a lucky dog to have found your family. I'm sorry for your loss. I too lost my camping buddy to a tumor last summer. It's not easy but it will get better.

RE: Allure flooring issues

I installed Allure last summer and it looked great. I noticed a few gaps last fall. I just went out to where it's stored a couple weeks ago and there are some pretty big gaps at the ends. I will be very surprised if they close up again when it gets warmer but I can only hope. Terry

RE: Friend has tow bar

I bought mine on Ebay. Price was about half of the retail price. Craig's List also works well but tends to have more of a localized market. From what I've seen, Craig's List prices are a little lower, but if you can find a local buyer, then you don't have to deal with the expense and hassle of shipping a bulky, heavy object. Terry

RE: How many free drinks is ok?

I think someone has been stuck inside WAY too long. Don't worry Ray, spring will be here again before you know it.

RE: do most of you remove the coach battery in the winter

I leave mine in and go to the storage lot about once a month or so to run the generator long enough to watch a movie, eat some popcorn and have some ME time. It's my portable man cave. This year I'll miss taking my black lab with me. She was a great camper and enjoyed our time in the RV for any reason. Or maybe it was the popcorn.

RE: Winterizing: Do you remove your LCD TV?

Stays in the RV year round. I generally turn it on every month or so when I go out to run the generator and charge the batteries. I crank up the heat, watch a movie and think about summer.

RE: Hanging A Clock

Our clock hangs ove a small screw in the paneling. A bit of velcro keeps it from swinging and bouncing off the screw while traveling but it can be removed easily for battery changes. Terry

RE: Tapping sound from front tire

I had a similar noise that took a long time to figure out. Turned out to be the wheel cover rubbing on the wheel. I had a hard time correcting it. I ended up pulling it off and ran a bead of silicone around the edge and let it cure. Put it back on and the noise was finally gone.

RE: Hot water tank winterization

I blow out all of the lines first. You don't want to close a ball valve that still has water in it. I have seen valves that have burst in sprinkler systems just from the water remaining in the center of the ball. Terry

RE: 50 amp or 30 amp service?

My MH is set up for 50A service. I almost always use a dogbone adapter and run off 30A. (Even in my own driveway!) I rarely stay anywhere that is equipped with 50A service. We usually stay in Michigan state parks. I've never had a prolem running both air conditioners. Worst case, I run my water heater on gas.

RE: Water pump silencing hoses.....

the answer is yes, but just go to Lowes, home depot, etc and get flexible faucet hoses, cant remember if you need adapter or not, but it really makes it quieter X2 These are a lot cheaper and work well. They're available in several lengths to replace the existing lines. Make sure the lines don't touch any panels as they will amplify any vibration. Also check the anti-vibration feet on the pump to be sure the pump moves freely. Makes a big difference for not much money. If you want to spend a little more, add an accumulator. Terry

RE: SATELLITE RADIO ANTENNA

My antenna sits just under the front cap, a couple inches below the fiberglass. Works great and no need to penetrate the roof. Terry
