RE: HELP PLEASE! Inverter isn't working

The power is on via the house electricity...plug outlets work, AC and microwave work. Just the 12 volt things. Fridge isn't working.
The batteries are dead. They're 3 months old. I guess I had something on? I don't think so but......I was at the trailer 10 days ago, everything fine.
With the truck running and hooked up (electrically) to charge the batteries it still did not turn on the lights in the trailer.
The trailer is on our property in the mountains and we have been leaving it there while my husband is building a shed. We thought maybe mice or other things may have gotten into the wiring...Absolutely no sign at all. The cloth cover underneath hasn't been touched...
Have more ideas?
Thanks so much

RE: HELP PLEASE! Inverter isn't working

I have 2 "deep cycle" batteries that are 3 months old. I was at my trailer last week-end ... no problem. My Converter is a Centurion 3000..came with the trailer. Naturally, I don't have the receipt for the batteries. Maybe need to keep such things in the trailer along with the registration?
Unfortunately, the converter won't stay on, even if I had a voltmeter... I'll try checking the battery connections, maybe a spider web OR SOMETHING IS shorting something out?
In any case...the plug ins work and the AC is working great!
Thanks..All...Irene

RE: HELP PLEASE! Inverter isn't working

AHHHHH...I SPOKE TOO SOON. I did reset the GFCI and for a brief moment the converter turned on...then nothing....
At the moment we have our truck connected to the trailer hoping to charge the batteries...while running the lights still don't turn on. It's been running only 5 minutes.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...

RE: HELP PLEASE! Inverter isn't working

I APOLOGIZE...the batteries seem to be dead... the unit that checks the grey, black, fresh water and the battery is dead. I push the battery button and it quickly turns red and goes away....
Thanks...Irene

HELP PLEASE! Inverter isn't working

I'm in the mountains where our 2000 Wanderer Glide Slide is and somehow have weak internet...
We hooked up our electricity to the trailer (1am in the morning) and turned on a light. It was nice and bright then all of a sudden it went dim...All the 12 volt lights are dim and the fridge isn't working too. All the Plugs are working as well as the air conditioner and microwave.
I believe the culprit is the inverter? Not too sure of the name but the unit that changed the household current to 12 volt? It normally makes a little fan noise. It isn't now.
I checked the fuse box..o.k. checked the 15amp and the 30amp fuse and changed them all just in case...still it isn't working....
Is there any quick fix I can do?
Thanks...Irene

RE: Water Hose Taste in Water

Well, the white hose I purchased states for RV use. My big concern is if it isn't the hose how do I get that smell out of my Travel Trailer lines? Would I need to disinfect the lines everytime I go out? Which reminds me I'll dump the water in the tank that I left last week-end. Running bleach was an all day job of filling the tank and dumping bleach, run it through the faucets and the hot water tank. Then to fill the tank again to clear the bleach and dump the water in the hot water tank.... Am I doing something wrong?

RE: Water Hose Taste in Water

I'll try drinking straight from the hose although, I do have a 4 way outlet on my water spigot and am using a 3' white hose for filling bottles of water...tastes great.
If the problem isn't the hose what should I do with the system in the travel trailer? I've put bleach in the water storage tank and drained all faucets and water heater. Ran them till the bleach was out. I then put the Water "Pur" in the tank...it was sitting about 3 days before we took off for the long holiday week-end. Didn't use it because we're able to hook up directly from the well.
Thanks Much!!!!

Water Hose Taste in Water

Hello Again! Sure glad this "Forum" exists...I'd be in a World of Hurt if it weren't for all of you!
I've inquired about the "ugly" taste and smell from my water. I've done all of the above and actually at home it worked.
My husband and I went to our property by Kings Canyon and we have a well. The water is Outstanding! I purchased the "white" water hose and even ran water through it to get any new smell and whatever maybe lurking in it. After hooking it up, the ugly rubber hose smell came back. I thought it was because the hose had been in the sun...so I ran the water in the trailer waiting for the "warm" sun water to get out. After the warm water ran out I tasted the cold...still rubber taste but not as pungent.
The same goes for the hot water heater...the ugly smell is in it because it seems to fill when I connect the hose...after we left I drained the hot water tank. We'll be going back up in a few days.
What can be done about this and or are you not suppose to drink the water?
Thanks Much...Irene

RE: Atwood Hot Water Heater

THANKS EVERYONE! It seems a new Pressure Valve is needed as far as the water spurting out.
I purchased my trailer used Oct. 2008. It's a 2000 22' Wanderer Glide Lite (not sure if I'm saying this right?) It was gently used and all appliances and electricals worked fine and still does except now, the hot water heater spurting water and the "yucky" smell from the water but after draining and sanitizing the water doesn't smell anymore! YEAH!!!
THANK YOU!!! and THANK-YOU for this FORUM!!!

Atwood Hot Water Heater

I have an Atwood G68-8E water heater. I'm new (ish) to RVing and my little trailer. We're leaving on a long week-end trip this coming Memorial Day weekend.
I'm trying to make sure everything is in working order etc. I did notice the last time out the water was HORRIBLE! So I drained the tank (25 gallons) filled with with 1/4 cup of bleach and filled it up then ran the faucets. I then decided to fill it back up and put some "water PUR" and filled the tank up again and then.....turned on the hot water heater. I waited about 15 minutes to make sure the water was getting hot....it was. The only thin it had a faint smell of the icky rubberish whatever but the cold water didn't smell at all....
So, I need to somehow get that Yucky water out of the hot water heater..... As I'm writing I guess I just need to drain it too...
Now....the BIGGY question is when the hot water heater heats up to a hottish temperature it squirts water out of the relief valve....I would send a picture of the valve but I don't know how to put one on in this site. Is this something that happens a lot? Am I doing something wrong?
Any help with all the above would be GREATLY Appreciated!
Thanks

RV hook-up to Septic Tank

We have some raw land that we had some infrastructure done, with the intention of one day selling our current home and building a new home on the land till the ECONOMIC TURNDOWN hit.
Everything was done Well, Pad, Electricity and the Septic System.
My question is can we as a Do It Yourself (er) put some sort of hook up to the Septic Tank for our Travel Trailer? If we can't how much does or could it cost to put one on?
We aren't planning on building a house for several years now but we will be visiting and camping on the property occasionally.
Thanks!
**Can you put picture attachments on these posts? I actually have a picture of the septic tank in the ground before it was covered.

RE: Leaking Water inlet to trailer

Yes...I have a rubber gasket like the above..still seems to squirt...Do you really have to crank on the hose so tight that you have to use pliars?

Leaking Water inlet to trailer

This may sound stupid but when I hook a water hose (white one) to the trailer it spurts out water. I thought that putting a rubber type gasket would alleviate it but it still squirts. It squirts with or without a regulator. I put very little pressure if the regulator isn't on...just to test.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks! Irene

White Waterhose

I'm still fairly new to Rv(ing)/trailering....
My question is... Is the "white" waterhose specifically for drinking water? Is the rubber/plastic different from a regular green type water hose?
Thanks...Irene

Prodigy Brake Controller

We purchased our used trailer for about 4 months and have had it out twice. When we bought the trailer we had a Prodigy Brake controller installed in our truck. The Technician adjusted it for us with the trailer hook up. It worked great...I mean it stopped!
The last trip we noticed when you put on the brake the trailer seems to jerk a couple of times while braking...
Is this a trailer brake control problem that needs adjusting? If so, how do you adjust this thing?
Thanks!
