RE: Furnace running, cycling on off?

We use to have a Tioga. On both the Tioga and our present unit, the roof heat fan blew right on the thermostat, causing it to cycle on and off quickly as it would heat first. We use one of the sink covers to shield the thermostat from the air, and the furnace stays on longer.

RE: Advice From Full Time RVrs

We've made 3 seven week trips. The most enjoyable was the one where I did make reservations is some key areas we intended to visit. I didn't have daily reservations, just reservations in the more popular areas like the Grand Canyon, Zion etc. We used the crock pot a lot, to allow us to keep the food budget down but still eat well. It was great to have a full day sight seeing and come back to a home cooked meal. Microsoft Streets & Trip, and Woodall's helped a lot. We did not consistently have internet access but did use RVParkREviews when we could. We would overnight at Walmarts when in route which allowed us to stock up without unhooking the toad.

RE: black tank

We use RV antifreeze in black tank for the winter. We leave a gallon on the bathroom counter, and "flush" with it.

RE: replacement refrigerator

Thank you for your replies. Our repairman could not get the frig to fail, so looks to be an intermittent problem. I think, when we do need a replacement, we will stay in the propane (not compressor) category. We don't dry camp much, but want the option and battery banks, solar etc. are not on our wish list. Sure hope the frig works for the next couple of months, as our RV will be a long way from our repairman. Again thanks!

replacement refrigerator

For the 2nd year in a row, the refrigerator has quit working. It was on auto, and we were plugged into power, but the gas was coming on. Then it just quit cooling. If our repairman says we need a new one, what do we want and NOT want? Hopefully, he can fix it, but want to know just in case.

RE: Replacement Toilet

Install is done. Installer ordered a real household "horseshoe" shape seat from Walmart.com. It fits perfectly and opens up the opening. Hubby is happy.

RE: Replacement Toilet

The seat on the "Residence" has an 11 inch opening front to back. The bowl is larger, so we are putting an elongated seat on it to make a larger opening. The opening on the longer seat reveals part of the bowl, which is not aesthetically pleasing, but should be functional. The alternative of spending $600 plus for a china bowl toilet in a 14 year old RV doesn't seem to make sense.

RE: Why can't manufacturers think about trash?

This is a problem in our non-slide C also. There's really not even enough floor space. We have a not so classy solution. We hang an empty grocery bag around the oven handle and shower towel bar. We thread the body of the bag through one of the handle holes of the bag. Then daily, or more often, cut the bag lose and toss it. Cheap and effective, if not classy.

RE: Last minute trip in NW IL. or Southern WI. Are we nuts?

Rock Cut State Park just north of Rockford is wonderful. Don't know if it's full or not, but it will be busy. We'll be there the following weekend, hopefully

RE: Replacement Toilet

I certainly asked for the seat opening, but telephone communication can be problematic.

RE: Replacement Toilet

via telephone, Tnetford says the "Residence" has an opening of 12 inches front to back. We will probably be ordering one, if our RV repairman thinks it will work. Will let you know the measurements when and if we get it.

RE: Replacement Toilet

Thank You Cloud Driver, The 10 1/8 is no better than our existing model, but if a regular seat would fit, that might help.

RE: Replacement Toilet

hey cloud driver, when you get the style II will you measure the inside opening from front to back? How may inches? Thanks

RE: Replacement Toilet

Thanks Dick & Kevin, I think you pointed me to the same model and I think that is what we need. Thanks for answering handy. Gwyn

Replacement Toilet

My tall large husband wants a residential size toilet, preferably elongated. The two we saw listed at our RV repair center were $650 & $825, plus installation, which is a bit steep for our 1998 RV. Any ideas? Even a salvage one would be acceptable, assuming of course, it's well cleaned :). Thanks

RE: Young couple saying hi and seeking advice.

I'm 6' and my hubby is 6'5. We do fine in a class C. It's no harder to drive a 32 ft class c than a 30 ft. They are easy to drive. I forget whether I'm in our van or our RV (until I try to stop). If money isn't a big object, spend more and get a newer Class C. You won't mess it up and I suspect your work doesn't allow you a lot of down time in one place for major repairs. If you buy used, have it inspected by someone who knows Rv's. Watch for leaks. We use a memory foam on top of the rv queen and let it wrap over the end, which cushions the long legs. Have fun!
