RE: Curt 20Q Hitch

I have the Q20. It was installed about three years ago. Works great, I would buy another one if needed.

RE: Fueling up with a diesel

Count me in the group using truck stops. I've never had a problem using the truck pumps when we travel. As noted, just pull up when done in case somebody pulls in behind you. The DW goes in and tells the attendant the pump number and pays the tab when I finish pumping. Works well for us.

RE: Another first - parking at the storage lot

Doug: I see all pluses:
1. No physical damage to any trailer or truck ( okay maybe a little ego bump)
2. Your marriage is still in tact.
All too familiar, you will nail it with some practice.

RE: how do you carry kayaks while towing the fifth wheel

Don't know anything about mounting kayaks. Guy coming at me on the highway in Wyoming yesterday had them on top of his fiver. Looked like potential unguided missles to me.

RE: Custer State Park

The Black Hills are our new favorite place. We left there two weeks ago and can't wait to go back. You are really going to love it. Everybody has given you tons of places to go, all are worthwhile. However, save some time to just sit at a beautiful place and absorb the wonder of it all.

RE: Packed up

We are approaching our first year anniversary of fulltiming. We've already decided we kept too much stuff (mostly clothes). My wife told me when we left our winter home, that I was taking too many clothes. She was right (hope she doesn't read this). Goodwill here I come.
We are now living by the "Six Month Rule" as previously mentioned.

Custer State Park, is a must in the Black Hills. Absolutely georgeous. About 40 miles south of Rapid City.

RE: washer & dryer - yea or nea ?

We fulltime. Started about a year ago without a washer/dryer. We had concerns about the loss of storage space if we put one in. Well, that lasted about 10 months. We put in the Splendide W/D combo. We really appreciate having it after doing the laudromat thing. The combo unit took up less space than side by side of stackable.

RE: Power awning vs manual awning

I've had both. Our current coach has the electric awnings (two). I much prefer the manual over the electric. Manuals can be adjusted the way you want them for the most part. Electric, if they are adjustable, are limited.
Don't count on the automatic retration function either. That first gust of wind may be the one that takes it off.

RE: Got it home.......

Shoot! It's Friday. Tell the DW surprise camping trip in the new fiver! After the weekend trip she may be a little happier if it takes awhile to get it to the top of the driveway.:)
