RE: What is your Bed rail to the ground height for a FW???

IMHO you need at least 6" bed rail/5er clearance. What you need to now is the height of the hitch plate in the back of the truck and the height of the pin plate on trailer when level and unhooked. This will give you some idea as to your clearance. Flipping the axles is the best choice, but in your case may not be enough. From what you post the dealer sounds a little squirrelly. I would talk to some one at a frame shop.

RE: Impact driver

I am the op. I haven't got the impact yet and don't have a torque wrench. Just wondering if it would do it to justify the purchase (in my own mind). Currently have a Sears combo impact/drill I paid $50. for that I don't like.
The one I'm looking at is quite small. Combo impact drill for around $200. Is 20v overkill??

Impact driver

I have 17.5 in load range J tires on my fiver. Don't know what the torque setting is for the lugs, but was wondering if a 20v Dewalt lithium-ion impact would remove the 8 lugs?

RE: Can you reach your hitch handle......

X 2 on the Bully step from Tractor Supply. Works for getting in the tool Box also.
I tried a Bully on my 2011 Duramax srw and it wouldn't match up to th truck frame.

RE: Auxiliary Diesel Tank?

I have an RDS 60 gallon with a 6" tool box in the bed on my truck and really like it. If properly used you can save a lot of money on fuel by buying more at a cheaper price. The only thing I would advise is to make sure you can see your hitch from the drivers seat after the tank is installed. Too tall a tank will hide the hitch when hooking up. I have used it on short beds and currently have it in a drw/lb Duramax.
When full it will add 500+lbs (depending on tools) to your truck, mostly on the rear axle. I would advise against being overweight on the rear axle or truck.

RE: Can you reach your hitch handle......

I never realiised there were so many short people. I can
reach mine standing next to the bed.
"Vertically challenged" please. At least we don't hit our heads on as much stuff as you do.

Can you reach your hitch handle......

........with a side step on a dually (long bed)? I have to get on the tire to hook or unhook now and am looking for an alternative. I don't really want one of those gadgets that goes over the tire.

RE: Bladder tank

Would two of the 25 gallon ones work? Perhaps fill one up and then put the other on top of it and then fill it up.
That would be a lot of weight. May have to pursue that idea, thanks.

RE: Bladder tank

Not a bladder but I have a 50 gallon ag tank I purchased at tractor supply which fits your size requirements.
I have the 35 Gallon model from TS which takes up too much room. Maybe if got dw to get rid of about 25 pair of extra shoes it would fit better.

Here you go. :B

Bladder tank

I am looking for a sturdy 50ish gallon potable water bladder that will fit between my hitch and closed tail gate (about 27")when in use (otherwise I will carry it folded up in the bay). There are lot of them out there but I am wondering if anyone has one that they are pleased with.

RE: How short is too short?

We are full timers and have a 33', 3 slide 5th wheel and love it. This is a new trailer but our old one was 32'. We spent last summer boondocking 50% of the time, NF campgrounds, corp of engineer parks the rest of the time for 6 months. We decided that at 33' we can fit in a lot of places. Getting into larger sizes does limit you.

RE: B&W Companion

Just got one and like it so far. Only drawback for me is with a dually (which is also new to me)I have to get in the bed to lock or unlock the release arm. I used a 6x6 block to stand on in the on my old rig(srw with Superglide)to reach the lock but that won't work now.

RE: Can height of 5th wheel be much of a problem?

Once you get off the main thoroughfares it can be a problem especially at 13' or more. Here's a web site that may help: http://www.aitaonline.com/Info/Road/Low%20Clearances.html
We were coming home from Utah last fall and ran across one in Coleman,
TX that was marked 13'. We stopped and got directions to go around, which was only a couple of miles out of the way. The main thing is to look for those signs, but even they can be wrong if asphalt is added to the road and the sign not changed.

RE: Electrical Help

Take the gfi out and swap it with the same size standard breaker from another circuit in the panel and see if it holds.

RE: electrical. plugs wont work

Circuits in rvs are all different. All circuits start out at a breaker in the main circuit panel then go from one receptacle to another until they reach their limit by code. They are in logical order from beginning to end for the most part. Somewhere further down the circuit from the ground fault receptacle that you reset lies the problem. You will need to start checking receptacles down the circuit from the ground fault until you find the short.
If all else fails I would do the above keeping in mind that you shouldn't work on a energized circuit. You can energize all circuits in the panel box except the problem one and use a probe do eliminate all hot recptacles leaving the ones on the problem circuit.
This post should be moved to tech issues.
Hope this helps

RE: Question for those with Pullrite Superglide

W-D 40 on the plate and Slip Plate graphite on the lower part. Keep in mind that the plates don't turn against each other so there is very little movement there mostly vibration). They are locked together.
