RE: Anybody dealt with MHS in the Ft. Worth area?

If you are in the Ft.Worth area, you would be doing yourself a favor by contacting Professional Sales in Colleyville. This is a family owned and run RV dealership that has been in business for over 30 years. They have a great line of new and used Newmar products and many used rigs that have been taken in on trade. You can check out their inventory on line. They are a no pressure, look all you want kinda place.
I don't work there and am not affiliated with them in any way except being a happy customer.

RE: highth of RV

My RV "barn" will be put up in the next two weeks, weather permitting. I'm having a 40 X 40 barn put up with a partition down the middle, running lengthwise, giving me 40 X 20 for the MH and an additional 40 X 20 for a shop, all with 14' walls.

RE: RVI supplemental brake

I have the RVi brake system. I tow a 2008 Wrangler. I absolutely love the RVi system. The ease of set up and removal is great and the response of the system is good. I especially like that if needed, I can change the brake response on the remote without having to stop and adjust the unit in the jeep.
Just my .02 worth but I am a fan and highly recommend the RVi. I neither work for nor am affiliated with RVi in any way.

RE: Horseshoe Casino, Bossier, Louisiana

We have stayed at the Diamond Jack casino campground. Good campground and there is a shuttle that runs between all the casinos. I think it costs $1 per person to ride. What ever you do, don't gamble at Diamond Jacks. Never had anything but bad luck there. Just my humble opinion.

RE: Shreveport , La. to Jackson, Ms.

Not sure about a Walmart, but there is a casino in Vicksburg that has a nice RV park. I think it's American casino, or something like that. If you are headed toward Jackson, the casino and the RV park are on left side of I-20.

RE: St. Louis and Branson, MO Recomendation

Just got back from Branson today as a matter of fact. We stayed at Tall Pines RV Park. Man, it's a nice campground. Lots of trees (as the name implies) and the owner, Kevin I think, was very helpful and always available to chat and visit.
We drove around and through many of the campgrounds in the area. Many are very nice, some are pretty tightly spaced.
When we go again, I do believe we will be returning to Tall Pines.

RE: Pros and cons of a 2002 georgie boy suite 26ft.

I can't comment on that particular model, but I did have a 2002 Goergie Boy that was our first motor home. We bought it used and it was a great motor home. Pretty much trouble free outside of the usual things that can and will go wrong with any motor home. The only nagging problem we had with ours was that it kept shearing the pin on the living room slide motor. I became real good at changing it out. Could just about do it with my eyes closed by the time we traded it in on a new Newmar.

RE: Texas State Fair

If you haven't been to the State Fair of Texas please note that the fair grounds are just north of downtown Dallas. I don't know of any campgrounds that are close and convenient to the fairgrounds. You might try Traders Village in Grand Prairie. Good luck and enjoy the fair.

RE: I'm learning: leave earlier

I remember a thread a while back where people were arguing over how and when we pack up on the last day of a trip. Some where saying how they stayed until the late afternoon to make the most of it. Some packed up first thing in the morning to get home with time to do stuff on Sunday such as wash clothes, fix lunches, and bath the kiddos. I like to leave in the morning to avoid the heat when hitching up and when unhitching at the storage lot. Those can be some brutal times!
As far as wind, Golden_HVAC, forget about it!!!!!!! One gust and I will pull over and wait it out. I do not like anything "noticeable" when pulling my trailer. I dealt with a lot of sway pulling my popup with my little Colorado. Now with the Silverado pulling the Colby T, I don't even know it is there. Once, I hit a few miles of light wind around New Braunfels, TX and it literally freaked me out. (And I don't want to hear from all you big macho men who aren't bothered by the wind. You tow yours, and I'll worry about towing mine!)
If you are that nervous, you should probably not be towing anything at all.
There is always someone that has to try to put a negative spin on something. Like the man said.........you tow your way and he will tow his way. Don't think he will get in your way so don't worry. Just my 2 cents worth. Not trying to start anything, just a little tired of........o never mind. Flame away.

RE: Phoenix area

What part of Phoenix are you going to be in? There are many campgrounds in the area, but the metro area is so large, you might want to narrow your area down a bit and I bet you will get a lot of great suggestions.

RE: Austin Lone Star RV Resort is NOT Carefree

We worked at Austin Lone Star RV Park back when the original owners had it. We were there when the XXX rated place came along. Jim Rowley (the owner at the time) did everything in his power to stop that establishment from opening next to the campground. There was just nothing he could do to stop it. So, to blame the campground for something it had no control over is well, too bad.
The roads and everything else used to be maintained to perfection, but since that big corporation bought it, it has gone rather down hill in my estimation. We were there last year and I was kind of saddened in the condition of this once pristine campground.
Our 2 cents worth since as we are no longer affiliated with this or any other campgroud.

RE: 2008 Jeep Wrangler Brakes??

Well I saw that.......ad thought that might be the vacuum booster, but it looked different than the old type I was used to seeing.
I do believe you answered my question and I really appreciate it. I just got a new RVi supplemental braking system, and I needed to know which setting I needed. It specifically says either vacuum assist or Active.
Again, thanks for the reply.

2008 Jeep Wrangler Brakes??

Okay, I know this may seem like a dumb question to some but........I need to know if my 2008 Wrangler has vacuum assist brakes or Active brakes.
I have just about worn out the owners manual and can't find either one specifically mentioned.
Any help would be appreciated.
On edit, I did find mention of Hydraulic Brake Assist. Is this the same as Vacuum Assist?
Again, sorry for the dumb question, but I know some of the experts on here will know the answer.

RE: Route to Branson, MO???

When in Branson, get the map that shows the side roads when traveling between shows. The main highway can be VERY crowded much of the time. These side roads have color designations for your easy use. Black, Red, ETC.
Awesome suggestion. As I stated, this will be our first time in Branson.
As long as I am asking, any campground suggestions? I have looked at several sites on line, but there is nothing like first hand knowledge.
thanks again,
Phillip

Route to Branson, MO???

Planning a fall trip to Branson (never been). Leaving from Lewisville, TX (the metroplex) and heading up. There seems to be many possible routes to Branson. Are the smaller back roads okay? We have a 36' class A pulling a jeep. Do I need to stay on the interstates for the most part? Really would rather travel the back roads when possible. Just not sure about the roads or hills (read grades). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks,

RE: MagnaShade.....make your own???

Not sure where the $1000 price tag comes from, maybe your motorhome windshield is larger than my one piece windshield. The win MagnaShade I ordered was I believe somewhere around $400-$450. But man, not having to climb up the ladder to get it installed is awesome. I will say the cover is a quality product. ( I have no affiliation with the company other than a satisfied customer)
I just ordered their new FlipShade for the front side windows for our MH, and I think they are like $107 each. Haven't gotten them yet, but looking forward to it.
Of course, I have no sewing skills at all. If I did, I would probably have attempted to make them myself as well.
Good luck on your project and keep us posted.

RE: Canton, Tx to Amarillo, TX

Take 19 out of Canton to Greenville, pick up 69 to Bells and then get 82 west to WFALLS, then 287 to Amarillo.
X2. That is the safest and most sane way to get there.

RE: Texas Folks need your suggestions

Destiny is a former KOA park. They are just north of the bridge that goes over Lake Lewisville, almost to the Lewisville city limits. Yep, the park is a little tight in the back area, but pretty well spaced in the front. The back area is the shaded area, with few trees in the front section. You will be just across the bridge from Lewisville. Enjoy your stay here.
