BIG difference between a day tripper from RV Net and a "professional" trucker with a CDL and the endorsements needed to properly do his job. It also does NOT say much for the company he is working for, when apparently proper "planning" was not performed. I worked with heavy haulers every day in the oil fields of Texas and know what should and should NOT be done.......I have seen drivers go HUNDREDS of miles out of their way, if there was even the slightest doubt of a clearance problem....

Amazing how some put down the new 1500 trucks without having any idea what they can and can not do today. The GM 6.2L with the 3.73 rear and 6 speed tranny is more than adequate to tow your trailer anywhere in the US, including the mountains in the west. We routinely tow a 10K trailer out here in the mountains and are very satisfied with the performance and feel very comfortable driving it. Ours has a 2000±# payload and a !0,400# bumper pull or a 10,700# 5er. The Ford F150 is also very capable and is pulling trailers much heavier than yours.
I don't think anyone is intentionally putting down 1/2 ton trucks. By the time you add DW, a couple of kids, 800-900 lbs tongue weight plus the hitch, and some gear in the bed, you are over all of the ratings of a 1/2 ton truck with a large trailer. So you consider a ½t with 3000# plus payload and a 12,000# plus towing limit numbers as inadequate for towing a "large trailer"? There are factory ½t trucks with those numbers and they have a V-6 engine......

My feelings exactly. If I ever had a service manager tell me that, then it would be the last he EVER saw of me or any of my extended family.....
Here is thing... My uncle's dealership could not stay in business simply doing warranty & service work for on vehicles purchased from other dealerships. They HAD to sell new vehicles in order to stay in business.
You can be unhappy and tell all your friends, but what choice does the dealer have? Option 1: Do the warranty work and slowly bleed to death financially. Option 2: Risk losing the future business of you & your friends who have already established themselves as bottom line buyers and not value based buyers.

Choose any two out of the three. No one will fault you for your choice, only for naively expecting to also get the third as well.
-EricQuote my entire post, where I said that the local dealer won us over as buyers, BECAUSE of his service department. The vehicle he was servicing was purchased at his competition, but his service sold us 2 since then.....it's called karma. I'll reiterate, if he treated me as you said he would, it would be one time only......

Gas prices and the economy are taking their toll on campers here in western Idaho. The SP camp grounds on the lake are normally close to ½ full by noon on Friday of Memorial Day weekend, but there were only 3 campers in over 100 sites this afternoon. I really doubt that they will fill up this weekend.
As far as scary rigs, if they tried pulling that trailer with a F150 up through the canyon, they would probably not get here. Most of the inadequate rigs never get very far up the road towards us. If the road does not get them, Vic our resident ISP female Rottweiler will get them.....:B

In regards to my last post, the RV stores sell what the average RVer will buy and that is Chinese junk......If you don't believe me, buy 100 cheap Chinese 30A plugs and mark them up 20% and buy 10 heavy duty 30A plugs also marked up 20%, then see which one is sold out first..

There are cheap inferior Chinese knock off 30A plugs and then there are heavy duty 30A plugs, just shop around. Check your local electrical distributor for a good plug. The RV stores sell nothing but junk today.
NO, there is to much of a chance that you will fry your RV by installing a plug that could be configured for 50A, to even consider going that route.

Thank you everyone. I do not have a "special RV line" at my house. It's unlikely that I will get one. Just curious as to why you would not get an RV outlet installed. Then you would never need worry about this situation ever again. You could run the A/C and other appliances up to the 30A limit of your circuit breaker just as if you were at a campground.
If your electrical panel is not too far from where you would want such an outlet, installation costs should not be through the roof.May not be the homeowner...may not have the resources to get it done, lots of reasons and IMO, no ones business but hers.

If your tire dealer quoted that price for 275/70R22.5 on Hankook AH-12, he was trying to make a killing on you. I priced them just a couple months ago and the price was $435 out the door or $2610 for 6. If I wanted Sampson tires, which are also very good tires, it was $375 each or $2250 for 6 in my size. Some dealers are more trustworthy than others I guess.....Those prices are here in the northwest or in the southwest, as I had prices from dealers in both areas.

Jim, while I agree with you totally, everything I read says that the Roadmaster chassis is going the way of the Peak chassis and any other outstanding chassis......You know Freightliner will fight tooth and nail to keep the business, even if that means purchasing Roadmaster in order to bury it.

Love it and would not leave, even if they tried to drag me out...LOL...setting in Cascade where the riding is unlimited and awesome.....Texas has NO decent riding, between the state laws and the ranchers refusing to allow it. I know, I know, I am a rancher and have refused to allow it on our land because of the damage caused by a few, but there is NO self discipline among the group, so all have to suffer.

Did you use the plan since you bought the RV? If not, you just proved the point so many tout, "self insure" and make the money your self, instead of giving it away. After I got shafted by one company that Jason Flowers was involved in and watched hundreds of others get shafted by the same individual when he got involved in other "extended service plans", there is NO way I would trust any of them to be there when I might need them.
