RE: Conditons heading south after Christmas

After 5 yrs in campgrounds, we've settled into hotels. Most campgrounds aren't opened; those that are have limited sites and charge full price; it is cold setting up and breaking down. There are hotels along any route that have restaruants, bars, RV parking and indoor pools. Much nicer to just get out after a long day on the road and proceed into a nice warm room, have a good meal, a drink or two, then a dip in the pool with no need to break down a campsite in the cold the next morning. Just my two cents worth ..... camp on!

RE: Best Northern Summer Campgrounds

Give Normandy Farms in Foxboro Mass. a look. Not cheap, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. Lots of activities and close enough to Boston, Plymouth, Old Sturbridge Village, Concord/Lexington, and Cape Cod for day trips. Camp on!

RE: Bucket list for the SE United States

I would add St. Augustine FL and the Kennedy Space Center. Camp on!

RE: Travel time pulling TT

I set the cruise control at 62 mph and we average 50 mph in the course of a travel day. 450 miles takes us 9 hrs give or take 10 minutes. Camp on!

RE: First Time Snowbirding Experiences

We did a week-at-a-time in 12 different places, down the west coast into the Keys then up the east coast. We found the place we wanted to spend our entire three months and have not regretted it. There are just too many subjective parts in that decision for anyone to make it for you. My advice is explore and enjoy. Camp on!

RE: Gettysburg area - what to see / do?

While at Gettysburg 2 yrs ago, we took a ride to see the memorial at Shanksville (United Flight 93). As I remember it was about 2 hrs. While I'm glad we did it, I was horrified and extremely disappointed at how little they've done in 11+ yrs to honor those true heros. Camp on!

RE: Florida Property Values

If you are considering condos, beware the HOA fees; some of them are insane. I know of one in St Augustine that starts at $550/month, which would pay off over $100,000 of mortgage. In fact, they are so expensive, it has affected the prices being asked. Good hunting. Camp on!

RE: When do snowbirds go south ?

We enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas with kids and grandkids too much to leave early. We head south New Year's Day and have given up looking for open campgrounds those first two nights. Instead, we've found hotels with RV parking, restaurants, and one even has an indoor pool for $15 - $40 more than we were paying for a campsite. Camp on!

Moving to 5'er

DW says it's time to sell the Sunline TT and get some more space. Have narrowed the search down to two ... Cougar XLite 26SAB or Jayco 26.5RLS. Any thoughts on either one? TIA for any suggestions. Camp on!

RE: junky tires

My local tire guy order Maxxis for me and installed them, even though he didn't carry them. No reason why anyone couldn't do the same for you. Camp on!

RE: How short is too short?

This is our 7th year snowbirding for three months in a 25' TT. Never had trouble getting into sites or gas stations. The rear queen bed is comfortable and the couch/chair LR is adequate. While it does seem to shrink a foot or two by the end of the three months, it works for us. Camp on!

RE: Do you stay in one place?

Our first year snowbirding we did 12 one-week-at-a-time stays visiting Florida down the west coast, into the Keys, and up the east coast as far north at Hilton Head SC. The next year we decided to try one place for a month but continued with one-week-at-a-time stays at another 6 places. After the first two years, we made a decision to stay at one place for three months. We loved traveling, but we also love stationary snowbirding. Whatever floats your boat...camp on!

Wi-Fi Signal Booster

Is there a device which could be plugged into the USB port of a laptop to increase the reception of a campground's weak wi-fi? Camp on!

RE: Snow, snow, snow.......

I've put in a special request that Rte 95 be completely clear of snow, traffic, and knuckleheads from this Sunday to noon on Tuesday. Happy New Year .... camp on!

RE: Santa's naughty list

Good vs naughty list? Good women get good presents from Santa, but naughty women get great presents!
