Campground Recommendation - Oregon Beaches

We're researching next years vacation and kicking around the idea of visiting some of Oregon's beaches.
We're looking for campground on/as close as possible to the beach with good views of the beach/ocean. Full hookups would be nice, but we could get by on less. I've been reviewing the Oregon State Park website, but the PDF brochures don't offer any real photos of the park.
Can anyone recommend a campground? If you could post photos of it would be great too.
Thanks

RE: Campgrounds along I-75

Almost half way between Atlanta and Macon is is Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, GA
That could be a problem. Georgia state parks 'close' around 10PM. Typically there is a gate that is either locked or electronically controlled. You get there after 'closing' and you don't get in until the park opens the next morning.
Been there, done that...

RE: Finally dumped Vista - Huge improvement!!

just found out that Office 2000 won't run on W7.
bumpySince 7 reportedly has a DOS window you should be able to use this (hopefully you can maximize the window):
Easy-word for DOS
Flexible operating systems call for flexible solutions. :W
Dave
will Open Office run on w7?
bumpy
Now that's really odd...
I've since upgraded to Windows 7 on my wife's Dell laptop as well as my HP laptop. No problems with the install on either....
I also installed MS Office 2000 on both machines - MS Office works fine on both machines.
So does OpenOffice. I've also installed OpenOffice on both laptops too.

RE: florida keys

Great choice. +1 on everything leaddog said. Very hard to get reservations.
You're right. It took me over 7 weeks of trying to get reservations at 8AM. I knew that sites would open up by phoning ReserveAmerica and asking about what dates the sites I was interested in would become available at the 11 month out date.
The Rep at ReserveAmerica has the ability to look forward passed the 11 month date. It does give you a slight advantage knowing the dates a site will open up. That way you don't have to get online by 8AM on dates you know nothing is available.

Topsail Hill Preserve, FL - Is it as nice as it used to be?

I posted this as a response to another Topsail post. It got me to wondering if other people here have notice this.
We started going to Topsail over six years ago. In that time frame we have noticed that the lushness of the vegetation has decreased. The vegetation between some of the sites in the outer loop of the 100's is just not as dense as it was six years ago. It not just that either, it's not as green and lush overall within the park.
We used to go there two and three times a year and now it's been almost two years since we last stayed there. Although we have driven through there numerous times since then. I guess because of how we view Topsail now it has lost it's appeal for us.
Maybe the drought has had something to do with it. Don't get me wrong, Topsail is still a beautiful park. It's just that we feel that it's not as nice as it used to be.

This is just on observation and not a complaint.

RE: a/c belt keeps breaking

Or maybe the idler pulley is frozen, or maybe thrse is a bent pulley somewhere else on the engine, or maybe one of the pulleys is not aligned correctly, or maybe one of the pulleys is damaged causing it to throw the belt and break it...:S

RE: Directv vs Dish again

A Dish 1000 dish with a quad LNB gets both of them plus the 129 satellite which is the HD programing
The Dish 1000 is a THREE LNB...
The Dish 1000 typically uses the Dish Pro QUAD LNB.
Not the Dish 1000 I've got.

RE: Windows 7 experience??

I'll stay with XP and Vista learned with ME if what I have works don't change it creates a lot of driver problems with my printers and software
I just did a clean install on an new HD from Vista to Windows 7 on an HP laptop. Window 7 found all the drivers, connected to the internet, updated the needed drivers at first boot! No problems with having to hunt replacement drivers.
The best part of this install no more HP software nagging me all the time. It's almost like a generic desktop, the install was so easy.

RE: Finally dumped Vista - Huge improvement!!

I've been using Vista on my HP laptop for about 2 years now without any real problems. But recently I started running out of disk space. So I decided to install a larger HD and at the same time upgrade to Windows 7.
I guess I'm the odd one here. I wanted to do a clean install on the new HD. I could not believe how easy this install went. Windows 7 found all of my devices on the HP laptop. I did not have to go hunting for any drivers for the laptop! Windows 7 found everything, booted up fine the first time, found my wireless card, connected to the internet and downloaded all updates needed for the devices!
One of the best perks of this install - All of that lousy HP support stuff is GONE!
Unbelievably smooth installation. I'm not a Windows bigot, but the installation sure impressed me!!!

RE: around Atlanta's outskirts??

Ahhhhh Atlanta, the armpit of the south. And yea, I lived there for 4 years.
Along those lines. Atlanta traffic is one of the worst in the nation! I used to commute to work near GA400 and the I285 loop. Only about 24 miles and it was not too uncommon for that commute to take over 3 hours in the afternoon - talk about gridlock. I'll take LA traffic any day.
We lived here (Marietta) for over 15 years and can't wait to leave and head back out west.
But that move is at least 5 years away...

RE: Blowing out air lines...

Everyone talks about the amount of time it takes to winterize, without mentioning the time it takes to dewinterize. There's a balance.I hate trying to get all that junk out of the lines: the taste is persistent. I'd rather take the time to blow out the lines, and when I want to leave just fill and go, without having the mess and time of pumping out the lines.
To each his own.
De-Winterizing takes about 30 minutes.
Drain the antifreeze out of the linesRun water through the lines for about 20 minutesDone
What taste?

RE: Blowing out air lines...

For my rig, it is almost a two hour job. That's an awful lot of work just to save a few buck on rv antifreeze.
I don't spend 20 minutes winterizing my water lines using rv antifreeze.

RE: What's up with Pilot?

Yea, hold your breath till I stop at another Flying J, advertise one price and charge another because you don't use cash or whatever that special card is. See how purple you turn.
Where have you been for the last few years? All major truck stops advertise the cash price, then charge 6/9 cents a gallon more to use a credit card.
I've even noticed in south Georgia, along I75, some stations are now advertising a cash price and a credit price for GAS! I hope that trend doesn't take off.
If you don't want to pay for the use of your credit card you can always get on their check approval list.

RE: Re-Assurance Needed

One of biggest expenses incured with any RV set-up is drivetrain maintenance. Class A's used infequently are just trouble waiting to happen.
That really depends on the motor home and how it is maintained. Our 2003 40ft diesel motor home has 55,000 miles on it. NOT one problem with the engine, transmission, drivetrain or chassis in all these years. For that matter the motor home either.
In the last couple of years we've only been able to get out 3 maybe 4 times a year. Still no problems.

RE: cleaning the exterior

Personally I would stay away from laundry, dish washing detergents. They are VERY good at removing wax. In just a couple of washes all the effort you put into waxing your vehicle will be wasted - no more wax on your vehicle.

RE: LPG detector problems

The older the propane detector is, the more sensitive it gets. Ours in our 36S Bounder was driving us nuts so I "fixed" it by finding the circuit board adjustment and "desensitized" it. It has not shrieked at us for several years now but will occasionally shut off the gas. Then we just "reboot" it and we all are happy.
Karl
You might want to check the replace by date on that. You might be beyond the effective period of the detector and by "desensitized" it you could be creating a real safety issue.
