RE: Awning fabric

I just finished 2 slide toppers and my roll out awning. Did one each evening after work with the help of my son. Took about an hour to hour and a half each. Lots of good videos available on You Tube. Please pay attention to the warnings on spring pressure. They are serious and should not be taken lightly.

RE: Musings in the middle of the night

The reasoning is quite simple. Some folks run late in leaving the site and other folks show up early. By having the lag time of three hours it prevents overlap. I'm one of those folks that leave the site early in the morning but often show up early.

RE: What are you towing with your GAS Class A?

I have a 32' Allegro with 8.1 pulling an 05 CRV. We love the toad for this purpose and my wife's daily driving. Blue Ox setup with Brake Buddy and charge line to toad battey. Pulls just fine including the East Coast hills. Bikes go on a hitch carrier at back of the CRV and the Porta Bote goes on the car's roof rack. I will say that when I am not towing, I feel like the the motorhome is a race car.

RE: Need to Determine Price on 1997 National Tradewinds

Thanks Darryl. I will probably put it on Craig's List at the lower value as it needs to move out of my driveway.

RE: Need to Determine Price on 1997 National Tradewinds

Thanks for the info, that cleared things up. The Freightliner chassis is a 1997 but the coach must be a 1998 model year. It's winterized so I may hold off until spring.

Need to Determine Price on 1997 National Tradewinds

My Dad passed several months back and left a 1997 National Tradewinds that I am tasked to sell for the estate. I looked in NadaGuides under National and the Tradewinds brand is not coming up. It is a 36', single slide on Freightliner Chassis with Cat diesel and Allison transmission. My parents kept in great shape and it only has 68,000 miles. Any place I can look for a starting value to advertise. I love the way this thing rides/drives compared to my 32' gas Allegro but this one does not like the pitch of my driveway.

RE: Campgrounds in Connecticut or Rhode Island

Connecticut's Hammonassett State Park is a fine place. Keep in mind that LAbor Day is usually booked as is Charlestown Breachway. Midweek should be OK although you will not have your cjoice of spots. Just noticed you have a 40'. HAmmo does have a limit of 36' but somehow the bigger units get in.

RE: Have you ever been stopped by the POLICE ?

Just last month, stopped by NY state highway patrol at a seat belt check.Had seat belts on but he spotted an expired CT registration sticker. I tried to explain that the sticker is obsolete as CT has stopped using them. He called over another trooper and then called in his Sargeant as he did not believe me. I offered to show him my registration but he had no interest. In the end, he said it was my lucky day as he did not want to deal with it. What really happened is that there was a long line behind us and nowhere for me to pull over with the toad. Of course, I caught more hell from the Mrs. for not scraping the sticker off.

RE: What Caulk to Terminate Eternabond?

Thanks folks. I used Acetone as a cleaner and a scrubby pad but had to be very careful as it took the paint right off of the aluminum roof rails. Put a scribe line and worked within in it to be sure that any paint removal was hidden by the Eternabond. Finished with a wipe down using mineral spirits and gave some time to dry. After applying the tape I rolled the tape. Hoping for good results as removing the old caulk is a major chore.

What Caulk to Terminate Eternabond?

My Allegro fiberglass roof was originally caulked with silicone. The previous owner had an RV shop caulk the roof and they used Dicor over the silicone. Obviously I have a mess so I decided to just remove both and reseal with 4 inch wide Eternabond tape. The instructions with the tape said to caulk the ends to prevent lift but don't say which caulk. What caulk have folks successfully used that have done this? Thanks, Tim

RE: Sunforce 5W solar panel battery trickle charger

I bought one of the 1.8 watt units from Amazon. Since we moved from a 5th wheel to a MH, my truck sits most of the time. After 2 weeks, the battery is too low to start the truck. Since I bought the solar trickle charger, battery stays at a constant 12.6 volts. I keep a voltmeter plugged into the second 12V jack to keep an eye on status. I am buying another panel for the motorhome. Tim

RE: Switch for fridge fan

I bought my thermal switch through Amazon and it is working perfect. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0026RYU4W/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 It is hooked to a single computer fan at the back of the fridge. I also have one of the Ebay dual fans in the fridge and temperature regulates perfectly at 34 degrees even within the sun direct at the back of the fridge.
