RE: Florscent light effecting thermostat

I had the same problem. I purchased an LED strip from ebay. This strip is 16 ft. long and is 12 volt. You can cut the strip in lengths of 3 lights and either solder leads to the strip or purchase connectors from the same supplier. I removed the ballast and bulbs from the fixture and replaced them with 4 strips cut to length to fit. I had enought LEDs to modify 3 fixtures for less than $20.00 and my problem was solved. PM me if you need more info.

RE: Dyeing Motorhome Carpet

Several years ago I dyed the carpet in my motorhome. I used Rit dye mixed up in a spray bottle. I used a fairly weak solution and scrubed in in with a scrub brush. I worked really well and had very little crocking. You might try in a section of carpet not visible such as under the bed or sofa. If it doesn't work for you and you recarpet anyway, what have you lost.
Good luck

RE: Roll Call Alaska 2013

Plan on leaving N. Georgia around mid April. Take our time going to Calgary and then north to Klondike and on to Fairbanks and such. Plan on about 4 months.

RE: Icemaker

That wire running beside the line was to prevent freezing in cold weather. I replaced the line on mine and didn't replace the wire and have had no problems over the past several years. Unless you have been camping in some real cold weather, this should not have caused it to leak.

RE: Question for the Sat TV Experts

Really all need to utilize the existing coax in the coach is a pair of diplexers. You can get a bunch of these for just a few $ on ebay. Just put one on both ends of the coach coax. Connect the sat receiver to the sat side of the inside diplexer and the TV splitter box to the cable side of the diplexer. On the outside, mount the other diplexer near the connection to the cable input for the coach. Connect the output of the diplexer to this input, the sat. cable to the sat. side of the diplexer, and the cable TV coax to the cable side of the diplexer. Enjoy both sat. TV and cable TV at the same time using the same internal coax.

RE: Passport America ??

If you do a little thinking about the possible motives for a campground to be affiliated with PA, it becomes quite clear. If you expect to have empty spaces, why not offer a discount but if you expect to fill up certain nights of the week or months of the year, restrict these times. We've be PA members for several years and have been quite satisfied. Yes, you don't always get the discount and yes, sometimes the campgrounds are in out of the way places, but overall, we've always more that recovered out cost of membership.

RE: A/C Unit Won't Run - 1998 Bounder

We had the same problem with our 2003 Pace Arrow. Compressor would start, run about 10 sec. and the stop with load shedding. Replaced EMS module with no improvement. One morning, early, I tried the front unit again and it worked. I turned on the flouresent light over the sink and the compressor stopped. Turned off the light and the compressor started after the 2 minute delay. Continued the rest of the trip with only incadesent lights with no AC problems. The flouresent light must put out a lot of interference the drives the EMS crazy. Just a thought.

RE: Setting up a Ditectv HD receiver with a Winegard Carryout ??

You have to change the settings in the receiver. My HD receiver works well at SD but the setting changes were complicated for me. My suggestion is to call Direct TV and let the technical people talk you through the changes. When you put the receiver back into the house, you have to change it back to the original settings. You might want to consider, as I did, buying a separate reciever for the RV and paying the monthly charge (I think $6.00) and not have to make these changes each time. You can now activate all your receivers on their web site so you don't have to call them to ping the RV receiver because it hasn't been used for a while. Good Luck

RE: EMS problems

Look on the Intelletec unit. There is a test switch on the unit. Slide is one way and the rear AC runs. Slide it the other way and the front AC runs. This bypasses the front thermostat switch and the unit will continue run until the test switch is centered. Try it.
