Need advice on checking and changing brakes

I've just spent the past hour searching the web for how to change brakes on my fifth wheel. I have also searched here. On the web I found a whole lot of buffoons, but not much more. I guess that's my luck, or lack of searching skill.
If brakes need changing what should be changed? Just the shoes? Or what else?
Is it worth changing just the shoes, or is it better to buy a complete assembly? Where do you buy this stuff?
And, in the first place, how do I determine if brakes need changing?

RE: Sidewinder 5th Airborne

Geez, I love the expertise you people offer.
I have been considering the Airborne for some time, and spent several hours the other day searching and looking at videos. I never thought of the effect it would have on towing stability.
So, now I go back to searching. Maybe one of those that slide? But that is for another thread.

How much would you guess they pay delivery people?
Hourly or mileage?

RE: Water Pressure Regulator On Black Tank Flush?

From the tank spray side after I remove the hose with the barkcloth preventer. Yup, it works.

RE: Water Pressure Regulator On Black Tank Flush?

After I disconnect from the black tank flush connection, I get a big surge of water. The water surge appears to be clean, but I use a backflow preventer, especially after seeing that.
I'm a little nutty with blank tank flush, though. I use a separate hose, too.

RE: Lessons we've learned over the years

I think Caveman should win The Biggest Liar Contest. Or The Funniest Story I Have Heard In Years Contest.
I haven't laughed this hard at a story in years. I wish that had been on video. No, wait, Caveman's description is better than pictures.

RE: State Farm Ins for RV

Hey, Honey,
Lets see if I have this. The ex wife wants to tell the new wife that if the ex wife should somehow die the new wife could share in an insurance policy.
Is that correct?
Does the ex wife think the new wife might be O.K. with helping along the demise of the ex wife?
;)

RE: Does a slide make that much of a difference?

I think the slide is worth it but if you can save a TON of money by going with a non-slide model then all power to you!
In one dollar bills, the savings would be
$14,528,000.

RE: Fifth Wheel RV aerodynamic modifications

I applaud every time one of those skirted trailers passes me in the rain. The tire spray is greatly diminished. I hope they all have to install them. We know we will pay the price in the long run, but I'll be happy to pay if I have to.
If the weight is one eightieth in load reduction, however, that is 1.25 percent less weight that can be hauled. If the skirts add at least that much in fuel savings, it would be break even.
If the skirts prove in the long run to be a greater fuel saving, what do you think our chances of seeing that saving passed along to us.
All that aside, I'm thrilled with the spray reduction. At least now when they pass I'm not blinded for what seems like 10 minutes.
One huge downside could be if they started breaking off while going down the road and endangering everybody except themselves.

How do you prove an air pressure gauge?

With three tire pressure gauges around, I never know which one is correct and which ones to discard.
How do you figure which is correct? I thought of taking mine to my mechanic to compare it to his, but how do I know whether or not his is or correct?

Do equalizers transfer weight forward?

Do equalizers or sway control bars transfer any of the trailer weight to the front wheels of the tow vehicle?

Weatherproof video camera connector needed

I want to install a full-time video camera on the rear of my truck, and a second camera on the rear of the trailer. I would only have one camera activated at a time and it would be full-time, not associated with the backup lights. The trailer connection would have to be broken each time I unhitch.
The video feed would go to an A-B switch in the truck so I can select either the truck or the trailer camera.
The video and power to the trailer camera would have to be broken near the hitch when I unhitch.
Can anybody suggest a weatherproof connector for this job, or a simpler way to do this?

RE: New RVer-- Battery question.

There are definitely proper and improper ways to connect batteries in parallel.
Check this link. In essence, negative from one battery connects to the coach circuitry. Positive from the OTHER battery goes to the coach circuitry.
