RE: Bed tonneau covers

Fold A Cover here. Fold-a-Cover here as well. Folds up out of the way when I need to hook up my fifth wheel, so I don't have to remove the cover. I also have their Personal Caddy toolbox. I have not had any issues with water getting in the bed either. My Fold-a-Cover is 9 years old, working and looking just fine, would not have any other cover, Highly Recommended. Travelon

RE: Help! I got ripped off

I would go on every RV sight and bad mouth them . I would also put a sign on my RV saying not to buy a RV from them. I bad word travels three times faster than a good word. Do that sir and you are an imbecile. The dealer may have sold the extended service contract but it is the customer's fault if he didn't understand what was and was not included with it. Don't blame the dealer because a 3rd party contract like Zurich or Good Sam didn't pay out. That's like saying you will never by a Ford again because Progressive didn't pay to fix your vehicle after a wreck! You're trying to fit a square shaped argument into a circle shaped hole. It just doesn't make sense! The real issue here is that the customer is not taking responsibility for his own stupidity (that may be harsh.. call it negligence then). Now we have other members on this forum that are just as mentally handicapped advising to slander a dealer because a service contract would not cover a part (tires) that was most likely printed in black and white as a non-covered part. Go figure. This is typical in these types of posts. "Help" I got ripped off because I was to lazy to read the contract. Hey -- maybe you didn't get ripped off at all. Maybe if you read the service contract you will find out that slide covers and tires are not covered parts on your contract. If you read the contract you would have known to submit for a claim before paying for repairs. Just a novel idea that is all. Also - some people on this thread (not the OP I might add) seem to think that it is absurd that this fellas service contract refund is or will sent back to the bank (lien holder) for his RV instead of him. Well that's how it works -- EVERYWHERE -- all the time no exceptions. If he didn't use his money to purchase the contract then he used the banks money. The bank will always have first rights at any refund for add-on products unless the customer can provide a valid lien release showing the RV was paid off. "Take'em to small claims court they preach" and then "Let's hang them no good RV dealers" they say. Get real people! Ya'll saying this stuff need to go on Amazon and get Commonsense For Dummies. X2

RE: Sacramento CA to Bishop CA

I would take the 50 from Sacramento to Carson City then 395 to Bishop, I have done this a couple times with a 34' 5er, I would not hesitate taking our new 38' over it as well. Same here, we have done that more times than I can remember with our 37'. Travelon

RE: Abused/closed Campgrounds and people and trash

Wintersun, Ok, I understand where you are coming from now thought it was another anti-hunting spiel, my apologies. Now I do agree with the changed outdoorsman of today. I to saw some the same yahoos from the 70's, wild hellions and now the camo wearing wannabes showing little respect for the outdoors. Actually, I have not been 'out in the woods' for last 10 years (health issues) so the percentage of bad apples most likely has risen dramatically if areas are being closed. Definitely not the same outdoorsmen of our father's generation. Here is shot-in-the-dark (no pun intended), was the pack station in the Kennedy Meadows area? Never used them but saw them on the trail. Travelon

RE: Abused/closed Campgrounds and people and trash

Many places in California are now closed off and the reason being given each time has been the actions of hunters who tear down fences to get their vehicles on the property and leave fire pits and trash behind when they leave. When people tow a trailer/cocoon from the city and then drive an ATV all over the trails to go kill something there is less respect for nature and the outdoors as there is no efort involved and no real change of venue - they simply bring the city to the country, including the kitchen sink, large screen TV, generators, etc. Now, now, now don't lump all hunters as ignorant dolts that don't give a darn about respecting the land. I gather from your comments, you are not a hunter probably never have been and I can respect that it is not for everyone, in fact, I do not hunt anymore just prefer to watch the animal move along. However, I still respect and love the art of hunting now my weapon of choice is a camera 98% of the hunters I have known have a deep loving respect for nature and all it entails. The other 2% do not give a d*mn about anything but themselves and there immediate needs, nature be d*mned. Now they should be hogtied and dragged out of the forest, never to enter again. It is the 2% (every group type of people have a 2%) that gives everyone else a bad name. Travelon

RE: Docking on your own land

How would this save money? Plus you need to research the area you are interested in for zoning laws, regulations and permits. You are better off renting monthly space as other full-timers, snowbirds and wanderers do or just boondock off the grid.

RE: Class A With Slide Extended On The Move!

That's why our M/H doesn't have slides. I just don't trust them that much and very expensive to repair when needed. 2 years ago we were on I-95 in dead stop traffic for almost an hour. When we got up to the accident it was a big DP that was leaning sideways over the guard rail with the rear bedroom slide fully extended. We were close to home so we watched the news that evening and sure enough, slide extended on it's own and the coach tipped over. The driver at least was able to slow it down to the point it just flopped over the guard rail. Nobody was hurt. He was towing 4 down and his jeep flipped over as well. It was a real mess. I have no idea how fast he was going when he tipped. I couldn't see that side of the RV except for the slide portion Can you imagine if he had been going 65 or 70 without noticing the slide extending? My wife said "NO SLIDES" on our next coach. So, we have one with no slides. Come on..."a big DP" (your quote) tip over from just a bedroom slide coming out...not likely, the center of gravity in the rear a "big DP" is pretty low.

RE: Guess they didn't need my money

I am not familiar with Coyote Valley RV Resort. From the way the account is written I tend to believe that it is a fairly accurate account of what transpired. The staff at the park could have and probably should have been more helpful and courteous. I can't help but feel though that the OP also played a role in how this interaction went. Just look at the answers to the questions and how they were delivered. Her "What year is your rig?" Me "2006. Does that matter for a site? I noticed some pretty old rigs just outside your door." Why not just say 2006 and leave it at that? Her "When do you need the site?" Me "Uh... Really? Today would be preferable" (I mean I brought the trailer and family along) I hear a little attitude building with this response. Would be simpler to simply smile and say something like "I was hoping you might have something available today." Anyway I think you get the drift, both parties seemed to be copping a bit of an attitude with each other. That does not excuse the staff of the park as they are in a service business and should be more professional. I just have to point out though that the OP said the rates were high. Like I said I'm not familiar with the parks in that area but for California $50 a night is not unusual, certainly not high end. Just look at the rates at our State Parks. They can be $45 to $50 a night. As far as long term stays. It is fairly normal for parks to have some sort of application process. Most of the parks that I have seen set aside a certain area or number of sites for long term and it is not unusual for there to be a waiting list. Could not had said it better, I agree.

RE: disney's new fantancy land

In California, the original Disneyland has Fantasy Land (not sure of the others) but the new Fantasy Land is pretty good. My first time 52 years ago, last time 28 years ago, in fact we are here now for our DGD's 5th birthday. Disneyland still has the magic. Travelon
