RE: Needing to buy snow chains asap

I needed to buy in the middle of a snow storm. Talked to a trucker who sent me to the nearest large truck stop on I-5. They had lots of them in all sizes.. Actually had to stand in line to buy..

RE: How to test electrical before plugging in

You can build a power post tester. With the help of DynastyDan here on this forum, I was able to build one for about $65. It works well. Do a search for him.

RE: Monaco auction set for May 8

Why do people think they were right to diversify? Didn't work out very well for them did it? How many millions did they spend on these resorts? How long could they have avoided bankrupcy with those millions? Why didn't they slow production when sales slowed? How many companies still in business making and selling motorhomes do you know of that got into the resort business so their buyers would have a nice upscale CG? That was about the most stupid statement I have ever heard.
Here's my thoughts from a business perspective.... I manufacture very high end motor coaches. My clientile are high dollar people, or at least people with very high incomes and/or credit profiles. The people buying these high end coaches are looking for a particular type of camping experience. Why not look into diversifying to satisfy these folks? Seems like a great idea to me. You wouldn't wear jeans to a job interview would you? Knowing your audience is 90% of the sales pitch. As to slowing production etc. who says they did not? The issue was not what they did or how they did it, but rather not realizing that the people buying these coaches changed from the high profile people to regular folks like you and I, with good to better credit but not enough dollar horsepower to maintain the lifestyle. As the economy climate changed, they had too much invested (dollars, good will, commitments, etc) to let it fold, so they hung on to a losing venture until the chapter 11 filing. I still think it was a solid business decision to begin with, but their audience changed and they either failed to see that or didn't feel they could afford to bail. Either scenario led to failure....Dennis
As usual, I agree with you Dennis. However, I just took my RV to DeMartini in Grass Valley for service and it is a 2-week wait for service and Kevin the service mgr tells me they have sold 20 DP rigs in the past month. Their lot is full of HR, Monaco and CC coaches. So help me understand how and to who they are selling to. And thank god their service department is busy..

RE: CoachNet and Monaco--new owners--beware

I think by the original poster calling his situation a 'Monaco debacle', makes it appear that he is blaming Monaco particularly. Who knew that the RV sales would fall 75% in a very short period of time effecting everyone related to the RV industry? I'm sure Monaco would love to pay up their Coach-Net account tomorrow if they could.
My coach came with CoachNet and I called them once as I thought I was calling Monaco. My turning signal would not work and come to to find out, the flasher plug-in came out of the holder from vibration. I secured it in place and off we went.
Now I'm using Good Sam's.
MM. These are difficult times. No one expected such a fall in our economy, certainly not me or Monaco or anyone else. Those fortunate to be employeed, to have an income are fortunate. I wish you the best and hope your company, your industry survives. Jobs today, none tomorrow... We need to get back to positive energy, positive thoughts and efforts. Work toward helping our own, work to build our great country again. What else can we say or do.

RE: RV TV Shows

Check out TahoeNow on the Mexico forum. Kevin, his bride and faitful pooch have a fantastic prom program they are promoting to networks. They are professionals from the TV and movie entertainment industry and have years of experience. Very well done. I'd like to see us on RV.net get behind them as I sure would like to see a quality RV program. Certainly miss Stu and crew..

RE: Toad Accident on I 40

AS many of you, DW and I have a routine too. I hook everything up. Then get in the RV while she goes back and checks everything from brake lights, turn signals, and the complete hook-up. She has on occasion spotted a problem. Not long ago I forgot to attach the braking cylinder to the brake peddle. Another time I had forgotten to attach the brake-away cable. Then I start to move forward engaging everything and I make a slight turn to the right or left to make sure the car will turn as well. We see more than a fair amount of people, hook-up and drive away, never checking their work a second time. You know, pilots have a check list which is done by at least two people everytime. Not just occasionally, but everytime without fail. As Iwasouth does, I too walk around everytime we stop and leave the RV-toad. I too keep everything locked to help prevent tampering, but if they are intent on stealing something, they will.

RE: Hitch Receivers for Bike Carrier and Blue Ox Tow System

I like the dual receiver from Cabela's. www.cabelas.com
It is not staggered such as CW version. It's a straigh-out with the bike mount 4" on top.

RE: 2004 beaver monterey laguna

We have an 05 38 DP Beaver Monterey w/ 4 slides.. Very happy with it. Has the C-9 and that too provides plenty of power for us. Enough storage, every thing works. Think Monaco buids a good product overall. Been weighed on all 4 corners and still have a 1000 lbs of storage left. Love the way it drives. Very stable design.

Spikester.... Go to Hollywood Bike Racks. They make what you describe calling it a 'Tow-n-Go' bike rack.

RE: Need suggestions on hauling bikes

I use a double receiver from Cabala's. Keeps the tow gear for the toad at the same height. Then I have a Thule conventional 4-bike rack which tilts. (we have a DP so I need access to the engine compartment and did not want to remove the entire package to get the bonnet open in the rear) The bottom receiver added about 8" to the length, straight out, and 4" in the top height receiver. CW has a double receiver too but it drops the bottom which I did not want to do. The Thule rack we have has fold down dual arms so if I don't want to run into the arms in the RV park, I fold them down. Comes from banging my head on the old rack.

RE: vertical gen exhaust pipe storage

Could this Gen-Turi or home built be used for the exhaust from my Hyro-Hot? That's the one we can't run when next door neighbor is right there. Would like to get that diesel fume up and hopefully away.

RE: M/H to airport

Why not do a test drive through the airport before going to your holding area to await the call. That way you know where you want to drive thru, stop to pick up your guest. If there's a problem you will know in advance and when they call, you can instruct them to catch a cab to your close by location.

RE: HELP PLEASE Xantrex Inverter Faults on 2004 Fleetwod...

When the batteries draw down to a certain point, the generator will not charge them. Start the engine and charge them back up some, then the generator will work charging. The generator has to be off when runnning the engine otherwise it overrides. Having a similar problem myself right now. I thought the batteries were the problem. Also I found out the shore power was bad and causing the system to give error messages. It worked, but was not providing full power. Someone here called it a 'cheated' 50 amp shore power. Maybe try plugging in to a different shore power.

RE: Leg 1/Leg2

Thanks all.... Your comments are taken to heart. I'll begin by check the source cables, look for loose or broken connectors, etc. I feel much better now. I never realized there were cheated 50 amp connections. The park where this all started was nice but more designed for smaller RV, coaches and tent camping. They had only a couple places where 50 amp and a 38' DP would fit.

RE: Leg 1/Leg2

Most interesting Dougrainer.. I did not know that could/would be done! Wilpower, yes, everthing seems to work, all outlets, appliances, even a small 1500 radiant heater we use on occasion. Next trip out, I will load up everthing and see if it draws power that way.. Thanks and Happy New Year to All.

Leg 1/Leg2

Recently I have either just noticed or experienced something I am not clear on. It started a couple months back while staying in an RV park on 50 amp power, where the Zantrex panel reported first low voltage on leg 1 which I cleared the error messages. Later the same day, it reported high voltage on leg 1, again I cleared. I never figured out what caused those. I changed to batteries, then to 30 amp, but again I got the error messages. I went back to 50 amp for the AC.
On another trip, the first day or 2 the same errors kept coming up. Then on the 3rd day, all seemed well and with another 4 RV parks visited, the problem has not appeared again.
However, this last week, while thinking about this issue (which I don't think has gone away on its own) I noticed while on the park power 50 amp, leg 1 doesn't reflect any draw of power, while leg 2 will vary according to demand. I've looked for fuses blown...can't find anything.
The questions are several, but basically should not both legs be drawing and using power? Or when demand reaches certain levels on leg 2, then does leg 1 kick-in?
What have I missed, what have I damaged? I'm trying to stay away from taking the coach to service as it will cost at least $172 just to be told how the system works. That's where you my friends come in. Please educate this less that electrical genus please.:)
