Country Coach

Anything new on Country Coach? I met a Country Coach owner a few weeks ago that told me they were coming south after visiting CC and the facility moved to a new location with a building smaller than my local Walmart.

RE: SEWER [Black water] ODOUR WHILE DRIVING

My theory, based only on personal experience and a complete ignorance of both plumbing and the science of how gases move through water is: Moving coaches generate air pressure down the spout connecting the black water tank to the roof vent. This air pressure seeks release by pushing the fumes in the tank. The pressurized fumes move up through the toilet bowl itself, filling your coach. Theoritically the water in the bottom of the bowl and the flush ball (the part that rotates open to allow materials in the bowl to escape) combine to prevent this, but, frankly, sometimes I'm not so sure. What we have found is helpful is exhausting the toilet compartment by closing the sliding door and opening the window.

RE: aggravating sliding bedroom door on Keystone trailer

Help !! I have the type of top hardware shown in the photograph. I need to remove the pocket door completely. How? I already have the bottom out of the track, so I only need guidance with the top. Based on the photo, I looks like the door should simply slide left or right a half inch or so, at which point the metal disc at the bottom of the pin should slide right out of an aperature big enough to accomodate it. Is that right? Thanx for all help.

RE: Proper treatment for fiberglass roof

Why aren't we just waxing the fiberglass roof with the same product as we wax the fiberglass sides?

RE: Tennessee developments with rv garages

"Why not contact a Relator in Tenn and let them do the looking for you" Not a bad idea, after unbiased observations from RV people that don't want to sell me something.

Tennessee developments with rv garages

Anybody know of any Tennessee developments with smaller homes or townhouses that have an RV garage, preferably attached. I saw the site for The Gardens in Crossville, Tn and it got me to thinking.

RE: Easiest Oil Change ever!

I have a value in the drain plug; the oil flows into a funnel, thence into a one gallon milk container which I swap out during the oil change as necessary.

catalytic varnish

Our kitchen module cabinets show water and/or steam damage & discoloration so the DW is commissioning the local cabinet shop to redo them. Shop proposes to use catalytic varnish, which it claims would be more water resistant. Anybody, any reaction to use ot catalytic varnish? Frankly, I've never heard of it.

RE: Watch out for road rage.

Reads like self defense, except your witnesses have gone to the four corners of the earth. Did the LEO write down their names and addresses? Keep us posted on how this came out.

RE: HWD slide system not retracting

Thanks for all that suggested stuff. 2driver had it. after i waited all day and no call from hwh and the mombile service had not shown up i called my home shop, central point rv in central point, oregon and talked to the service manager Don, who nailed it. he said try opening the manual T valves, which we call bleeder valves. when i did i heard the pressure release with fluid/air moving back into the reservoir. i had the wife fire up the engine and i was able to retract the slide. took it to a local shop in spokane (P& M Mobile, who I recommend) and they stayed way after 5 p.m. to run the diagnosis. Turns out the electrical solenoid was fine but one of the hydraulic solenoids was not working. I didn't have time to wait for a part from Iowa so we'll just , do without the slide for a couple of days and finish the vacation. Again, thanx for all that had ideas and were willing to help.

HWD slide system not retracting

No documentation/schematic with coach manual. HWD customer service will call when they get a chance. Road service called, no promises of arrival or if they can solve problem. I'm stuck in a park with my slide out; see prior post for helping me with getting the crank to manually pull it it. Coach extended last evening; wouldn't restract this morning. Problem probably commenced with low fluid level in reservoir. When it didn't work I read the manual, located the reservoir, and saw dip stick was at "add". I found proper fluid and overfilled. didn't realize i had overfilled, tried unit, it would not retract. Tried to manually restract. would not work. figured it was overfilled and the ovefill in the reservoir was preventing any retraction so I reduced fluid to proper level. tried the "motor" and manual and would not retract. I have power to the unit (solenoid?) and can hear try to work. When I put my hand on the fluid line I do NOT feel it "jump" when the unit is turned on. I don't know if the pump is pushing fluid through the line.s I don't see any visible leaks from visually accessible lines. Fluid level does not seem to drop during my attempts. Any ideas? Any referrals to competent help in the Spokane, Washington area?

manual release on slide? crank doesn't retract he slide

My HWH system won't restract my slide. See next post if you have suggestions on that. My immediate problem is that my manual crank won't retract the slide either. The coach is basically flat/level. There are no visual obstructions in the channel the front and rear rails move in. The slide is cattywampus, meaning somehow the outside edge of the front is 21 inches from the coach body and the rear is only 19.5 inches from the coach body. We have "emptied" the slide out of all items we put in cupboards, etc. The slide is a kitchen slide, about 15 feet long and 24 inches deep The strap is connected. The crank turns. The strap gets so tight you that if you had a bow you could play it like a violin, but the slide doesn't budge. A middle aged guy helped me by pushing on the slide as I cranked, no help. Coach motor was running. Even tried the "retract command" but no help. Slide operates from hwd hydraulic system. Query; Is there some sort of manual release on the slide? Any ideas oh how to get the crank to pull the slide in? Coach manual from Country Coach is silent; in fact, it is for a 32 foot and mine is a 36 foot so I had to look somewhere else for the crank. Of course, in BK Countrycoach fine customer service dept is not functioning. There is one roadside service in my locale and they are on call to arrive when they can.

RE: Time for tires Help!

I called my regional tire guy for Toyos and said I wanted "fresh", fabricated within 6 months. Last weekend he installed the tires, made March 2009. There is more than one fish in the sea.

mammouth biting insects that carry away small children

Is this what we'll find at Custer State Park in South Dakota in late June? Does one (or six) need to screen the outside eating area?

steps not fully retracting

Noticed the top step is sticking out about 1.5 inches and the bottom step about 3 inches. Will lube them when I get home. I use silicon spray. What do you use? Any ideas for first echelon maintenance if lubrication doesn't fix the problem?

country coach cup holder source

Any know the manufacturer or distributor of the grey cupholders that CC used at the turn of the century? CC parts is now answering the phone and I need a grey cup holder. I have seen similar on the net, but not the exact one. It would be nice to have a matched pair of the type originally used. Any ideas?

RE: Costs of Class A "Non-Use"

" If I used the money I spend every year on my MH we could stay in 5 star motels" wrote BSINMICH. I love that. Mine is paid for, but still costs money for maintenance (which I try to do), replacements like tires & batteries, storage, and repairs, plus the time to maintain, wash and wax. When I write those checks I feel like an idiot because, as with BSINMICH, we could be staying in 5 star hotels. However, when I fire it up to go some place, even to just take it out for a spin to keep the tire juices flowing and run the generator, by the time I get to the end of my 100 yard driveway I feel, like the character Jack (Leonoardo de Caprio) in Titanic, "I'm the King of the World."

RE: Oregon trip

Fort Stevens has a big Civil War reenactment Labor Day Weekend. Be sure to visit the bar of the Columbia River. In Astoria, the museum of and on the Columbia River is a must see - allow at least 2 hours.

RE: Bridgestone vs. Goodyear, how do they compare?

There must be a regional wearhouse in the LA County/Ventura County area for any brand you desire. There must be 100 vendors that sell RV tires within a two hour drive of Thousand Oaks. Have you told the vendor you prefer to get you some tires that were manufactured within the last "xxxx" months?
