You said you pulled out the wires that went from the battery to the circuit panel. A direct line? Then you mentioned wires going to the fuses between the battery and the circuit panel. Which is it? The same line?

RE: Back when camping was camping

When we got married our honeymoon with a 4 week tent camping trip that went from NJ down to Carlsbad Caverns in NM and then up through 5 national parks in the west and back to NJ. We did this in a 1979 MGB convertible. We still say it was the best trip we ever did.

They used to tell Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell how their inventions probably would not work. Keep up with the good ideas that work for you.

RE: Dash Cam

I've thought about it. But, the price holds me back. $17.88 or $52 holds you back? bumpy LOL

Campfire fanny warmer

I read about this on a camping forum but I do not remember where, however I thought I would share this with everyone since it worked so well. My wife loves sitting around a nice campfire when it is cold outside but she complains that she ends up with "cold butt syndrome". I read on line about someone that came up with an idea how to fix that so we tried it last night when the temps were in the lower 30's. Take a 3 pound metal coffee can, put 4 hot charcoal briquettes in it and sit the can under the chair. It puts out enough heat to warm the chair (and the fanny) but not so much as to do any harm to the chair. As the briquettes burn down take some chunks of glowing embers from the fire and use that. I cannot tell you how well this idea works. Keep the coffee can lid to close up the can after you are done with it and have dumped out the ashes. To whoever came up with idea: A 6 pack to you my friend! Moved to General RVing Issues forum from DIY.

RE: Water Filter Advise

Take a look at my signature photolink and you will see an album of my water filter install. Took about an hour. First filter is 1 micron and the 2nd one is a carbon block. Zero taste at all, zero smell. Great products from the RV water filter store.

RE: Replacing sofa bed and recliners

We have the same model trailer as you have. We bought La-Z-Boy recliners and put two of them right where you suggested. Fit great and are very comfortable. We seldom have anyone on the airbed but those who have been on it said it was comfortable so maybe you have too much air in yours. In any case, we put that in the back under the big window but it would not allow the slides to close. Missed by about 1/2". I took off the metal brackets that hold the side curtains in place next to the big window and that gave me about 1" more inch and now the slides come in just fine.

RE: South Llano River or Pedernales Falls

I've been to all the parks you've mentioned. Pedernales Falls has more shade that S. Llano but I think the hiking and birdwatching from covered hideouts is great at S. Llano. I believe there is more to do by Pedernales since it's closer to Fredricksburg and the northern hill country. Davis Mountains SP is wonderful. Great campsites, outstanding campsites and your kids would really like going through the fort. You can take them up to McDonald observatory also for star parties. If you look at my signature Photolink you should be able to see Davis Mountain SP, S. Llano and a bunch of other stuff around TX.

RE: Bayou Segnette or St. Bernard?

Take a look at my signature photolink and you'll see a lot of pictures from Bayou Segnette SP. Great place to stay, just about 20 minutes from the WWII museum if you stay away from rush hour. We would highly recommend staying there. I would have some concerns about driving your class C around New Orleans although at 25' you might be OK. Parking should not be a problem since the parking lot for the museum is a good size. The museum is outstanding. Plan on at least 4-5 hours and be sure to have lunch there. Great menu.

RE: Arches and other Utah Nat Parks: a photo tip

I have a Nikon D3100 that has a setting for back light problems. Works great but the Topaz Adjust looks rather amazing.

Excessive propane usage

I had one of my propane tanks go empty. There was a faint smell of propane when I opened the door to take it out for refill. I turned the knob to the other tank and made sure I had propane flowing. After two weeks without using the propane except for the stove, that tank went empty and again the smell of propane. Is it possible I have a leak somewhere and if so how do I find it?

RE: Gulf State Park and Pontoon boat.

Thanks. I loaded google maps and it showed a canal to a larger lake then another connection to the ICW to perdido key. But I do know how maps can be deceiving. "Canal" is a very misleading word. More like an 8' wide, shallow, cut in the swamp.

RE: TT VS 5thWheel

The reasons that I like a 5th wheel are you have a much higher ceiling which gives great feeling of spaciousness. Floorplans suited us better. Towing of 5th wheel compared to a trailer is much, much better with zero sway. I would disagree that having a dually eliminates sway since the hitch point is the same. But like others said you get what you want. Nice that you have a shed that will hold your trailer, that will keep it clean for many years.
