RE: Thoughts on older Dodge TV

I bought my 2008 last January new and my DW has refused to drive it because she thought it was much larger than our 2005 2500 QC. Well, Sunday nite she had to learn to drive it in a hurry due to the fact I had another heart attack and we live too far back in the mountains to wait for an ambulance.. She learned it's the same size but she complained that she couldn't see what's behind her and I told her that was because there was no one!. We made it, I'm doing OK. Second one since my big time one in 1995. Minor damage and the blockage will be repaired with medication. Too tough to die I guess!! Or too ornery depending who you ask.

I'd have the dealer flush the generator engine out with some Resilone, refill with fresh oil, run, test it before any $$$$ changes hands.JMHO

RE: Seen the Quicksilver Motorcycle camper first hand

My DW and I pulled a Time Out behind our GL1500 Wing all over the West/Canada and Nova Scotia. Had the Add A Room and never wanted for space. Very weather tight. The biggest thing I would advise AGAINST, is NOT to get the 360* hitch as it will definitely hurt you!! Our trailer flipped up on it's side in Manitoba causing us to crash badly in 2001 when a sudden super hard gust of wind caught it. TT had too much leverage against the hitch and caused our rear wheel to leave the roadway. Only doing 55mph. Hard to ride a Wing on the front wheel. DW got six broken ribs, broken collar bone and 19 days in the Brandon Hospital, 12 of which was on a ventalator as she was OD'ed on Morphine by a nurse? Doctor?. A standard hitch would not have come up so far as it's arc would have been limited to around 45*. Time Out was well made and actually quite roomy. Always produced an audience while putting up. I won't let her ride anymore, but I still do. Only got a badly torn rotator cuff for me. Luckily, no road rash as we were dressed properly and did manage to "waste" two Shoie helmets.JMHO

RE: Sirius radio help

I got a free year when I bought my truck. Absolutely love it!! Had an XM put in my DWs car. I pay $50.00 Quarterly for hers, which seems steep to me. I will be renewing my truck when it's due, but will go for a longer period if possible. JMHO

RE: Not rich

Not rich either. Have a 2006 TT making payments (low)on and a 2008 Dodge truck making payments on (not too high) and fully retired. We go when we can and have to save up for our longer trips (normal). Going back to Alaska this coming May for a four month trip possibly as we have about half the cost saved already. Treating the DW to some side trips she deserves for putting up with me all these years. She wants to do a "flight-seeing/glacier landing trip via helicopter. After so many missions in Vietnam (3 tours as a door gunner on Hueys) I could live without, but I WILL TAKE HER. Just turned 72 both of us and you onlt live once and it's only numbers on fabric. JMHO

RE: Coast to coast pulling a 20-25 foot trailered

As long as your rig and TV both are in good condition and compatible to each other as to capability, I can see no forseeable problems. Enjoy and have fun Try not to worry too much into the equation. JMHO

RE: Truck "rocking" or Porposing

Take up one more link on your WD chain. I have to do either the three link or two depending on how my TT is loaded in order to smooth it out. JMHO This should settle down your front end with some more weight on it.

RE: Help with picking best years of Dodge and Chev diesel?

I had a 2005 with the 48RE and 5.9. 85K and never a problem. Now have a 2008 with the six speed auto and 6.7 engine. A couple of minor issues, but seemed to have them worked out. Endless power. Have to drive it correctly with the auto. 3rd/4th below 40mph and 3rd 25-30 mph. Head and shoulders above the 5.9 power wise. Slightly better milage. My 5.9 NEVER gave me the milage as some claimed theirs did. "Truth in telling"?JMHO

For donno128: I pull around 62mph or so. Where I'm going was there when I left and will still be there when I get there. I also like to be able to stop my 10,000 lb TT. JMHO

RE: Another Towing Question

My '03 Avalanche did the same thing with our 5000lb TT. Drove me crazy! Need to take it out of OD and just use high gear. I had the 3.73 gears (4X4). Gave up, bought a bigger/heavier TT and a Dodge CTD auto and have never looked back.

RE: Trailer Tires

I must have had Chinese Marathons 'cause in my opinion (not always humble) Marathon tires SUCK big time. Got all of 1050 miles on one when it went. Never blew, but bubbled and tread came loose. Enough for me!! Went back to my Maxxis. Peace of Mind..........................PRICELESS!!

RE: My Rear End is Sagging To Much

You need to crank up your hitch where the bumper is just OVER the level line and hook up the chains then. I use the three link "rule of thumb" but on occasion I use only two considering just how I'm loaded. I can tell within fifty miles of towing just what I need. I have anywhere from 1100 - 1150 lbs of tongue wt. Either case my 2500 CTD Ram doesn't squat that much. 1"-3" at the most. You hitch lokks just like mine, but you still need to move the hitch IN to the first hitchpin hole. You may have more nose weight than you jave truck.

RE: My Rear End is Sagging To Much

To me, I think your hitch is TOO FAR OUT, giving your TT too MUCH leverage on your truck. Three inches difference can make a heck of a lot of difference. Your hitch pin should be in the hole CLOSEST to your hitch head, not the farthest. This allows you to have the legitinate weight on your hitch letting you CRANK up your rear bumper back to actual level and then hitching your chains up.JMHO

Mine had been done, but I did manage to get it washed yesterday. First part of December will have to get it ready for our annual Xmas trip to Florida for the family get-to-gether. Then, re-winterize intil May at which time I'll be getting it ready for our Summer trip to Alaska. I have 1/2 half of our needed bank roll together. Yee haa!!!
