RE: Advice on auto rentals

I use Enterprise because they come pick you up. With AARP discount rate they are usually the cheapest too. Not everywhere, but pretty good coverage. We tow too, but occasionally need a second set of wheels.
Welcome to the forum... :) :)

RE: Campgrounds closest to Texas A & M

Our group stayed at Somerville Lake southwest of town. Choices in town are slim and booked way ahead. We drove in in toad, light tailgating. On campus moho parking was a loooong way away we found out later. Parking and traffic was well handled. Lots of "howdies"...this could easily become the most visiting fan friendly school in the SEC. Go in early, the team walk and the cadet review march are pretty impressive. Cleanest campus, before and after in the SEC. We had a great time.
Go Gators :) :)

RE: Allies Specialty Vehicles Buys Monaco Corp Today

Glad you are having good dealer response. Corporate HQ..a little different. They didn't know if I was there to drop $500K or buy a bolt. Just sayin'.
I have had a lot of rigs too including Safari when it was great and good treatment after the Monaco buyout there.
Most important thing the industry needs to realize is that no one needs these things. Driving West this past week there is a lot of inventory on lots. In Elkhart there was a lot of inventory sitting...some one needs to be rel nice to move all those units.

RE: Ouch ! obsolete oven parts are expensive !

Glad to see you had time to post a humorous response... my wife thinks you should have spent the time continuing your search.
See it's true as I always suspected...they are all genetically linked. Must have been that rib thing. :) :)
Chris's suggestion to cap it off is a good one....cold beer and grill out. :) :)

RE: Driving the Trans Labrador Highway in a Class A

Trans Lab HWY
Try this site too.
We did it in 98 when they were rebuilding it and it still ended in Goose Bay. AWESOME trip. Our fifth wheel, a 40' Country Coach, and a Winnebago Rialta. We were greeted everywhere as the first caravan they had ever seen, We did south to north and only saw one other rv the whole time.
The part of the road that had been completed was good gravel, the old part was tolerable. Supposed to be much improved since then.
Awesome folks in the villages/towns. Great power plant tours, mine tours, Fermont complex. Golf at Happy Valley/Goose Bay. Long way, mostly dry camping, but definitely worth the ride.

RE: Allies Specialty Vehicles Buys Monaco Corp Today

Visited Monaco in Wakarusa last week...after the attitude I got, went to Middlebury to do the Entegra tour. Impressed!!
I love my Monaco but the current regime just does not have a clue. Maybe they just know they have already lost all of the current owners.

RE: Cummins engine problem!

You did not mention pre-soaking the rusted bolts. This is a common issue on older machinery. Did you use a penetrating oil for days ahead of your appointment??? Pre-soaking any rusted bolt/nut is just absolutely essential to prevent breakage. If the tech just took the rig in and twisted on dry rusted bolts without warning you then they ripped you off. No way can you just take apart 10 year plus rusted machinery dry.
This has been discussed many times here. For non-mechanical folks who don't read engine stuff here is what can happen.
I feel you pain, but it was somewhat preventable...sorry.

RE: Intermittent Onan Problem

Fuel lines that are cracked or loose at fittings suck air and give this problem. Low fuel pressure from a weak/failing pump do also. AND if fuel related it will cause fault codes that say change electrical parts because the engine never gets up to speed or can't sustain a load. Parts changer type techs will change all those part$$ and you will still have a fuel related problem. Good luck...intermittent stuff is always harder to fix. :) :)

Check Aunne Osborne Park...close to the locks and on the waterway. Ships right outside your rig. MI side.

RE: Rest Area in Florida!

Sure you weren't somewhere else?? There isn't one listed anywhere near Chiefland, Levi County, Fl., except on I75, http://www.dot.state.fl.us/statemaintenanceoffice/Rest_Area_Listing.shtm
Right Pat there is none at Chiefland...
I think he is referring to the one west of Perry, FL. Two entrances with a 4 lane divided highway. If each rig takes the first entrance they come to, you end up nose to nose. Then there is a tight picnic area loop behind also. A rest area from the late '60s when stuff was simpler. :) :)
