RE: which gen. to buy?

If you are going to run an ac unit or your microwave go for the bigger one.

RE: Accidently pulled Brake-Away Cable Out---Any advice?

By putting in the pin is the way to reset the brake. You are all set AND there are some people who instead of putting a chock behind and in front of the tires and they feel it is better since the brake is locked on. I would say it is not a good idea but it shows that the brake can be on for a long time without problems I would guess they are plugged in or the battery would be drained after a while but you should be able to hook up and go without problem. I'll bet some people may pull the pin instead of chocking one time but won't do it again. Those magnets will draw down the batteries pretty quickly.

RE: Diluting antifreeze

I usually don't make sarcastic remarks on this forum, but.... If RVers are willing to work so hard to save antifreeze our economy must reallly be in the toilet even worse than I thought. My time is worth a lot more than the time it would take to blow out the old antifreeze & recapture it. In addition, that antifreeze is diluted from mixing with water in the traps & polluted by that same water. As far as saving 1/2 gallon by diluting it in advance it is not worth the risk reward ratio. As another poster said, buy an extra gallon & save what is left over for the next year.

RE: Accidently pulled Brake-Away Cable Out---Any advice?

Did the brakes work as intended when it was pulled out? They should have come on, obviously. Pulling out the pin is what you do when you want to test to see if your emergency brake system actually works on your trailer brakes. Resetting is simply putting the pin back in. Brian You would not know if the brakes worked if you pulled the pin when the trailer was already unhooked from the truck. The only thing you might hear is the magnets humming which may or may not mean that all brakes are engaged.

RE: side bar removal?

Accessing the forum here will eliminate the sidebar. Doesn't return 'next/prior' page icon though. Are we friends now Tvman44? I just tried the link & it says invalid address! Any suggestions?

RE: side bar removal?

I don't mind the sidebar I don't like having to scroll to the top to change pages. Your keyboard's Home will take you to the top of the page, without scrolling. (The End key will take you to the bottom of the page.) Tom Thanks for the "Home" tip.

RE: where do you store 2 honda 2000i in fiver or truck

I keep mine in here and run it in there as well. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/ss74/renoman69/IMG_9031.jpg?t=1259270387 http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/ss74/renoman69/IMG_9032.jpg?t=1259270531 What is the red button by the weatherguard logo used for? How do you ventilate your box?

RE: south dakota black hills?

Mount Rushmore KOA is very expensive but has a lot of things for kids to do. There was a small water slide, pools, horseback riding, etc. Many many families there.

RE: where do you store 2 honda 2000i in fiver or truck

HERE is my genny carrier. I had a hitch shop weld a frame for a truck box. It's ventilated with a thermostat that kicks on exhaust fans that draw cool air from the outside when the interior of the box exceeds 90 degrees. I wired an external outlet for my extension cord. Very handy. It's also secured in there and alarmed for peace of mind. I also have room to put another 2000i in there then tie them together for 30amp. If I do that, I'll wire an outside 30 amp outlet for my umbilical. Next step is sound dampening material for the interior. What did you use for the thermosat? Thanks

RE: where do you store 2 honda 2000i in fiver or truck

Mine are in the garage since I got the Mountain Master 6500. Ok, you got me. Other than the fact that you are offering no help to the poster, what is the Mountain Master?

RE: where do you store 2 honda 2000i in fiver or truck

Mine is in a toolbox on back of fiver. Cost about $200 to make. Search forum & you will see a lot on this topic. I made mine after reading some of these posts.

RE: No DC Power

Since you get 12 volts DC when on shore power & your new battery has 12 volts Dc, it is a problem in wiring or the fuse. There is definitely a fuse on all fivers after the battery. It does not look like a traditional fuse. It is usually a small rectangular black box about 1" by 2". It will have a large wire going to it & going from it. Check for voltage from each terminal on the fuse to ground. If you have voltage on one terminal to ground but not the other, the fuse is bad. You can get a new one at an auto parts store. Just get the same amperage as you currently have. It will probably be greater than 30 amps. I believe mine is 100 amps. After you fix this problem you can see if the converter keeps the battery charged when you are on shore power to see if you also have an additional problem with the converter but it is not your primary problem.

RE: Did I break city water check valve?

The check valves are available at Camping World. Unfortunately most are made of plastic. After 2 of mine failed, I replaced it with a brass check valve & have never had a problem since.

RE: The length of the planks that I park the trailer on

I started out with 6' long planks but found that often the grouind is not only not level but is bumpy. When I backed onto the long boards they tended to crack. 2 shorter boards rest more evenly on the ground.

RE: The length of the planks that I park the trailer on

Use 2X6" planks, instead. No need for 12" wide planks. 2X6 planks aren't as wide as the read on my tires. I wouldn't want part of the tread hanging off the board for an extended time.

RE: Good Sam Emergency Road Service

Based on our experience with Allstate. Drop them as quickly as you can. Their Road service Rep. we dealt with could bearly speak English. All we got from her was"No can find you on map". Kept hearing that even though we gave her the exact address of the gas station we were at just off Exit 31 I-95 in NC. Had to pay a local to change a tire and then fight to get our money back. We switched to CoachNet and are very happy. Have heard nothing bad about Good Sam. I'm just curious, have you had to call CoachNet for road service & how was your experience? I am really upset about Good Sam constantly trying to get me to renew early. They sent me out a $10 off to renew my contract by November 30th but my contract doesn't expire till June 0f 2010. I called Good Sam & asked if they're in trouble financially & they said "no, we're in good shape"! I don't believe it.

RE: Good Sam Emergency Road Service

Save your money and stay with Allstate. As good or better than GS at 1/2 the cost. The only reason we don't have Allstate is they don't service Mexico, like Coach Net does. How much is Allstate? Good Sam is $110 a year.

RE: slipping dishes

I purchased a couple of melanine boards that had been manufactured with a simulated dark wood grain on them to match the color of my cabinets. You can get them at Home Depot. Next I made a couple of shelves from the melanine boards that I fastened inside the cabinets. Next, go to Walmart & you will find small vinyl covered racks for stacking dishes, etc. Place them on the shelves & put the dishes in the racks. To keep them from shifting while traveling & falling out when I open the cabinet doors, I got a couple of pieces of 1/4 inch luan & cut them to be less than the height of the door openings & a little bit longer. I put a couple of small pieces of velcro on the ends. You can slide the luan inside the cabinet opening & behind the door rails. If there is too much room still behind the luan, cut a couple of pieces of foam to fit in behind the luan. It works great!

RE: Heaters

The heaters work great. Try Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes. We use them every winter in Florida & hardly use the furnace. Temps will have to get below frezzing & stay there to have a problem with holding tanks as it usually warms up in the daytime.
