Did not use a tire guage, but tires show no wear at all on the trailer.

No tire problems on trip

3,000 miles from Colorado to Chicago, then Green Bay , then Macinaw City, then South to Indiana, then home thru Kansas City. Running Michelins on the truck and Maxxis on the trailer. No problems on either. I promised to report on any problems with the new Maxxis, but I guess I will have to wait for another trip. Sure was nice to enjoy the trip without worrying about the tires.

Michelins singing

Michelins 265-75r-16s on F-350 in the last two months have started singing. Haven't done anything different so can't explain why they have started. They do it at all speeds, have maybe 20,000 miles on them and I can't see any different wear patterns on them. Any suggestions?

RE: Anyone have maintenance work done at Camping World ?

Won't go to the one in Colorado Springs if I can help it and that is where I bought my trailer. Takes too long to get anything done and the money is higher just like their store items.

RE: Got my new tires on

You cqn bet I will report how the tires do and if there are any failures. I did not go with the Kuhmos for a couple of reasons. One is the price. The other is that total load amounts for the two. For the Maxxis the toatal is 7380 pounds. For the Kuhmos the total is 9084 pounds. Since my trailer weight is 6500 pounds and it is well undeer the Maxxis total weight, why bother spending the extra money? Don

Got my new tires on

After reading all the answers to my post on new tires delima, I just had a new set of Maxxis put on the tt. Compared Maxxis with Kuhmos and went with Maxxis. Couldn't see spending the extra for the Kuhmos and even had them balanced. I run Michelens on the tow vehicle and now with the new Maxxis, should be good for worry free travelling at least as far as tires are concerned. Thanks for all the answers I got from everyone, heading for Taos tomorrow and the great lakes in 3 weeks. Don

RE: Delima on new tires

Decided to go with the Maxxis and will be getting them on next Monday. Price is better, great name and reviews and I never got any real good reason to go to the 8 ply rating. If Skipnchar can pull an 8000 lb for over 40,000 miles that sounds good to me. My trailer weighs a lot less and I always run between 65 and 70. Of course, if I do have any problems, I may have to challenge him to a duel. Oh well. Thanks for the answers guys.

RE: Tire load ranges vs name brands

Bad typing - they are 14's Dutchmen aerolite. 5000 lbs empty, around 6500 loaded. Maxxis LRC total 7480 lbs and Kuhmos LRD total 9084. Either will do with my trailer. The question is should one go a higher LR Kuhmo D's at another $126 or go to a more higher rated name Maxxis in a C? Or do load ratings really make that much difference?

Tire load ranges vs name brands

I have a Dutchmen Aerolite and can replace the original 205-75-24's May Pops with either Kuhmos in load range D or Maxxis in load range C. Kuhmos have a good rep, but Maxxis seem to be the best name brand according to most on this list. Do I go with the better named brand Maxxis in LD C or would a higher load range be the better choice?

RE: Delima on new tires

I also asked the dealer if they had ever had or heard of any problems with steel rim failures when going from 50 lbs to 65 and their answer was none. Begining to think of fliping a coin between Kuhmo' s and Maxxis. BTW thanks for the answers.

Delima on new tires

I have a Dutchmen Aerolite, 5000 lbs empty, around 6500 loaded. It has on it May Pops 205-75R- 14's. Stopped at Discount Tires and they can get me the following: Kuhmo's load range D $142 GY Marathon's load range C $105 Maxxis load range C $113 Carlisle's load range C $75 I would like to go to up to load range D's, but Maxxis at $113 sounds great not to mention a Carlisle at $75. BTW the dealer said the Carlisle's with a new tread design are a really good tire and they have not had any bad reports on the ones they have sold. You see my delima. Do I really need load range D's? Go with the great name of Maxxi's in load range C? Or go with the dealer recommended Carlisle's at a great price? Suggestions?

RE: Axle Flip & Stability

Flipped the axles on two trailers and could not tell any difference. No problems.

Ground on Electric jack

The ground on my electric jack is thru one of the bolts that fasten it to the a frame. After a while, the bolt gets some rust and the ground won't work till I clean it off. What can I spray on it that will stop the rust and still make a ground? Thanks, Don

RE: 2012 Coachmen Trailer quality

I totally agree. I bought a new Dutchman and have had nothing but problems. Hopefully when I get this one all fixed I won't have to get another one. But, if I do, it will not be a new one. I will buy a good used one which is what I should have done this time.

RE: One tire of four almost bald in 16 months

I too have a Dutchman Aerolite and have had nothing but problems. It is in the alignment shop now. The back axle on one side lost the bearings and on the other, the tire was wearing on both inside and outside. Cause: The nuts on the spindles were only hand tight. This on a trailer one year old. I bought the trailer from Camping World in Colorado Springs, Co and when I asked them about the warranty they said that the axle only had a 90 day warranty and they considered bearings to be a maintenance problem. Nice. I love the layout, but the problems I'm having add up to this. I will never buy another Dutchman product and will never go to another Camping World if I can help it.

Rims with wrong tire pressures

I keep reading about putting tires with 65 pounds of pressure on rims rated for 50 pounds of pressure. What I want to know is what has actually happened when this occurs? I have 14 inch rims with c rated tires and want to go to a d rated tire. What has actually happened with the rims when others have done this?

Kuhmo's ?

Saw where someone said that Kuhmo's for small sizes of tires are good. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm looking at 205-75-14. Thanks
