Remove or replace

I have a check valve that has failed on my 2002 Itasca Horizon. I am not getting any hot water pressure (cold is great) and there is no pressure at the water heater pressure relief valve. After talking to Winnie tech support they agree it is the check valve on the inlet side of the water heater. So here is the question. Should I just remove the valve or do I need to replace it? Don't have one in my stick house and it works fine.
