RE: Cat ate my dog's Rimadyl

So far so good - he came home today. He will have to go back daily for sub-q fluids for at least the next week, but it looks like he'll pull through.

RE: Ken Burns Special "National Parks"

For those who have missed it (like me), it's available to watch online at pbs.org.

RE: GM to kill the Saturn brand.

I loved my '93 SW2 station wagon. Quite a powerful, fun little car to drive. 5-speed, low to the ground...drove more like a sportscar than a station wagon. I'm sorry that they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Cat ate my dog's Rimadyl

Dang it! He's getting pumped full of activated charcoal and iv fluids now. Gonna be an expensive snack.

RE: Dog/Cat Washing Station

There's one in a nearby town my neighbor was telling me about. He installs carwashes and built that one. He's looking for a place to build one here.

RE: Cone of Shame

Got him a sweater - so far so good. He has stitches under his front leg and the sweater covers them. He's not freaking out at all about it. Hopefully it will remain that way.

RE: Cone of Shame

The vet gave it to us - and it's a clear one that he can see through. He's just absolutely freaking out. I'm thinking about getting a sweater for him to wear to cover his stitches instead of the cone.

Cone of Shame

Dewey has to wear an e-collar (aka cone of shame) and is not adjusting well. What can I do to make it easier on him? He's stressing himself out trying to get it off.

RE: This is why spaying and nutering shoud be mandatory!!!!!

Two of the dogs in the video look so much like my Bella...and I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't her intended purpose when she was bred considering where I found her. It's reprehensible that people would do this. I absolutely agree - the "humans" should be neutered!

RE: "Background" music??

I have a (cheap) surround sound system. I've found I can hear dialogue better through the tv, though - so when I'm watching a movie, I have the surround sound set lower for the background music and turn the tv up louder to hear the dialogue. Probably something to do with that center channel thingy Doug referred to.

RE: A question about mean girls in school

My son was in a similar situation. He found a hobby that he enjoys and has found instant friends there. He's become very involved in local community theatre. His last two girlfriends have been from the theatre - they seem to appreciate his eccentric streak. If she enjoys horses, horsey girls are pretty friendly (at least around here) and there are plenty of horsey things to do - showing, jumping, dressage, trail riding, barrel racing - even drill team on horseback. I know how you feel. I had a son in the same place. Eventually, it will get better. The coolest adults I know were outcasts in school.

RE: Whacha readin' now?

Who is the author of Outlander? Also, I mentioned this before, and I am going to again. It would be helpful if folks would say whether they enjoyed the book they read or are reading. jmo.:@ Barb The Outlander series is written by Diana Gabaldon. The 7th book in the series came out today. I'll be getting it soon.

RE: Hoooo Dogie

Funny - but tasteless. I'd rather see it done with an obviously fake stuffed animal...not a real dead dog.

RE: Newbie question: What campgrounds allow small TT?

Slightly off - topic. What year is your Nomad? I have a '73 and I love it.

RE: How do I undo the pscho damage we've done to the dog????

Pops - my son had one for a while and played with the dogs and cats (til the battery died...lol) We went tent camping and it rained one night. My son was shining the flashlight around on the inside of the tent and I was trying to catch it. How bored were we?

RE: Desperately need to rehome a rescue - Update - page 2

I got an email from the rescue lady. The guy who got Newdog (now Slim) came by another adoption event they had today to pick up his adoption pack. He said he absolutely loves Slim. I'm glad it's working out.

RE: I've Strayed over to Facebook

I do Farmtown and Farmpals...haven't gotten into Farmville (yet). I enjoy it - helps me keep up with friends and family. Most everyone I work with is on Facebook and it's fun to see what they post about the things that went on during work that day.

RE: Desperately need to rehome a rescue - Update - page 2

Well, he found a home at the adoption event. It's a little bittersweet, but I'm happy that he found someone who really likes him and will be able to devote tons of time to him. The man who adopted him is on over the road truck driver who has been looking for a traveling buddy. He's based here locally, but is on the road a couple of weeks at a time. He promised that he will get plenty of exercise and will obviously have lots of attention. He said his truck is huge so there's quite a bit of room for him to move around. And there's no worries about him getting another dog or cat so no pack issues to deal with. I'm pleased, and the lady who runs the rescue was satisfied with the adoption interview. His new owner said he wants to get in touch with me when he's in town and let me see how he's doing. I'm glad he made the offer.
