RE: Simple Cast Iron Question...I hope

I will either go the paper bag route or the pillow case idea. Thanks for all the input. The problem with plastic is what I thought it would be...moisture can not escape. Thanks again!

RE: Simple Cast Iron Question...I hope

I don't see any reason why you can't use a plastic bag. Even better, I use the canvas storage bags made for the purpose. Lodge, Cabelas, Bass Pro all carry them. I was unaware of this...I am now headed to Cabelas web site to check it out. Thanks!

RE: Sway caused accident on I-75

It would be interesting to know what, if any, sway control was being used. I am wondering the same thing. Very scary!

Simple Cast Iron Question...I hope

Can I store a newly seasoned cast iron pan in a plastic bag to keep it clean and dust free in my camper? I am also trying to keep the pan from getting the camper dirty as well once I start using it on the fire.

RE: best wheel bearing grease for TH with zirk/greasable hubs

I use standard Wheel bearing grease most of which are considered high temp. I personally like Mystic JT-7.

RE: Tornado Touches Down on CG Jellystone, WI

Sure glad no one was injured. We are looking at more thunderstorms tonight here in Wisconsin. Hopefully no tornadoes, we are headed to a campground in a few hours. The kids won't sleep if I tell this story.

RE: Axles

There will be a metal tag on the axle tube itself that will list the rating serial number etc. This is how I would do it.

RE: Power Awning?

I had a power awning on the HTT I just sold. The new Puma comes with a manual awning. Thought I was going to miss that easy press of a switch. Well, I don't miss the power awning at all. I can set the manual up in about 2 minute and I can stake it down if need be. I have a Dometic and like it so far, but it's only a few months old.

RE: Lube slide-outs?

LOL, I was gonna buy some grease, glad I asked first! I also considered greasing until I read the manual first. My manual states they are maintenance free. It goes on to state grease or wet sprays could do more harm than good. I guess grease would hold sand, gravel etc and then wear on the gearing. I will be using a dry lube from time to time.

RE: Hot hubs

New trailers do not have enough grease on the hubs. I just picked up my 2014 Puma and just like my last trailer, I had to add grease to the hubs. Each wheel took around 15-20 pumps of grease before the hub filled up decent. I would hope some day the dealers start to check this as part of the "dealer prep" fee.

Sold my HTT, got a new trailer!

I sold my Jayco 23B on Sunday and purchased a 2014 Puma 30DBSS. The Ecoboost pulled it beautifully with the Equal-I-zer hitch. Hope to camp this weekend! Not sure why my signature won't show the new trailer..edited in my profile.:h

RE: Wholesale RV Club contact

I have been in contact with him this week, but have not made a purchase yet. As stated above, he is not pushy at all and will answer questions quickly. Seems like he is a good person to deal with.

RE: Running AC on battery power

Just curious that you can plug in at night, but not during the day...Doesn't the campground charge the same rate weather you plug in all day or just at night?

RE: Am I stretching my ecoboost limits?

That still seems too high… for the 145" wheelbase That's what is on the door.

RE: looking to upgrade from hybrid to hard sided for room...

When our kids were teenagers and brought along friends when camping, they always wanted to bring a tent and stay away from the adults :) Worked pretty well for all of us. My kids like do the same...at least the boys do. My daughter then gets the camper with her friends. I am trading my Jayco Hybrid today, and I consider an upgrade.;) I would say, the boys would be reluctant to share a double bed, however they do share queen air mattresses in the tent. Best of luck!

RE: Am I stretching my ecoboost limits?

I am considering purchasing a new travel trailer soon. Was wondering what you guys think about tow vehicle to trailer. I have a 2011 F150 Ecoboost 3.5 with Max Towing, 3.73, 11200 GTWR, 1897 Payload, 17100 GCWR. The trailer I am considering is a Salem 31QBTS. Dry Weight 8140 Hitch weight 885 Cargo Cap. 2867(will not load more than 1500 tops including fresh water) I figure total trailer weight to be around 9500-9700 loaded. let me know your opinions and experience! Thanks Im sorry but there is no way you have that much payload capacity on a 145" wheelbase. I come in at 1700# with everything you can add for towing minus the HD pkg I'm sorry, I had a huge typo...it is 1867 payload, not 2867. :S
