Weight capacity ...need some help.

Alright you guys, I know this topic is covered over and over, but I need some help doing some figuring for my vehicle. I am trying to figure out what weight trailer I can actually pull and what is max tongue weight. I have some numbers and did some figuring, but I am not sure I am doing it all correctly. Here are the details I know for my truck...
2011 F150 SuperCrew, 3.5 Ecoboost, 145" wheel base 4X4 w/ Max trailer tow 3.73 gears
Payload Rating(from Door sticker) 1897
Max trailer weight 11300(from owners manual w/ my options)
GCWR 17100 (from owners manual)
GVRW 7650 (from door sticker)
Also, is there a way to determine what this truck weighs without taking it to a weigh station?
Looking for some help please. I am going to start looking to upgrade to a larger travel trailer. Thanks!

RE: Running on house power

I was told by a friend of mine that running on the 15 amp side all of the time and drawing on the heavy side of those amps is hard on the converter. Anyone know if this is true.
Also, I finally ran a dedicated 30 amp outlet to the exterior of my house today. No more adapting down to the 15 amp for me when I am parked in the driveway!

RE: Which wax?

I still prefer the old fashioned Turtle Paste Wax. Leaves a nice long lasting shine. I've used McGuires, Nu Finish, and a few others. I still resort back to Turtle.

RE: Bridgestone Tires?

I always had good luck with Bridgestone Dueller H/T on my pick up trucks. Always seem to find a good deal on them compared to Goodyear.

RE: Wisconsin Dells -June

We stayed at Holiday Shores last year and enjoyed it alot. It is a huge campground. We are going to stay at Arrowhead in 2 weeks, but have never been there before. I would guess most places in the area would be decentto keep up with the competition.

looking to trade

Does anyone know if there is a site dedicated to people who want to trade trailers. I have a HTT and want to go to a32 footer. Maybe can find someone who wants to do the opposite. Any ideas without going to a dealer to trade?

RE: Walmart Camping?

We used the Walmart lot once on a trip from NE Wisconsin to Niagara Falls. We planned on finding a campground on the fly for a one-nighter, but we kept chugging along...pretty soon it was midnight and I was exhausted. We found a Walmart in Michigan and stayed a few hours. I have a HTT, it felt awkward just to fold out the beds...I felt like I was abusing the privilege, but with 3 kids, we needed the beds out. I could not imagine setting up an awning, chairs etc... That is a total abuse of Walmarts hospitality!! Hope people open their eyes and correct their behavior before its too late!

RE: EcoBoost Gas Mileage

I traded a 5.3 Chevy that did almost the same on fuel, but had to wind up tight to pull the trailer up hills. I considered upping to an F-250 with 6.2, but didn't want the extra size vehicle for daily driving, and I feared the fuel economy would be poor.
I just went through this exactly! Traded in last week Wednesday. 1000 miles already on a 2011 F150(ecoboost)4X4 Supercrew 3.73 gears. I am averaging 16.9 MPG hand calculated with the majority of those miles on the highway non-towing of course. Love this thing over my Chevy that was averaging the same mileage.

RE: Elec tongue jack. Atwood, Barker or Bulldog?

For the cost of any of them I see one in my future since cranking up 8500lbs of Travel trailer is less fun then it was when I had the 4500lb Hybrid. If I have to buy a new one every 3 years so be it this old man is done with cranking the beast up and down 8 times for a weekend trip in 75 to 90 degree weather!!
I'm not an old man(I don't think), but I would agree with this even on the hybrid trailer! ;). I have the Bulldog and love it!

RE: Campers Booking Right Next To You?

To those on this thread who find it hard to discipline your children, do it in the privacy of your home. They will know to behave when in public. My kids are now 16,14,and 12....all I here from people are how well behaved they are. Spend time with them at home, teach them manners and discipline when necessary. They will learn. And if you do need to do some attitude adjustment in public, if someone gives you a stare or comments that you are abusing your child, you give them heck too. They will back down. I once had my child throw a fit in a parking lot and drop to their knees in traffic. When I pulled them up by the arm, a lady yelled "hey take it easy". My wife got my child into the car and I let this stranger have it. She apologized.

RE: Former Chevy Owner...Just Swapped to F150

I'll try to get pics up Monday. I'm at my daughters basketball tourney this weekend. And just wanted you all to know, I was not bashing my 5.3. They have given me plenty of good years. Just really impressed with the ford!

RE: Newb question: Stranger approaches your RV

I would let them use my toilet....NOT! I think I would be watching their next move too. Might need to let the campground owners/employees know. I would have to say someone is up to no good.

Former Chevy Owner...Just Swapped to F150

Hey everyone! Been a while since I've visited the forums, been a busy fall/winter for me. Anyways, I have been a proud Chevrolet Silverado(1500) owner for the last 17 years. I bought a new truck in 1996, 1999, 2005 and 2009. The '05 and '09 both had the 5.3L. I have been towing a Jayco 23B for the last few years and the Chevy seemed to struggle or run serious RPM's to hold 65-70MPH on the highway. Road grades were also a struggle.
As of Tuesday, I made the switch to a 2011 Ford(15000 miles) F150 Ecoboost w/ the Max Tow Trailer package. What a difference!! I took the truck for about a 6 hour test drive and snuck home with it and tried pulling the trailer. It was awesome! The truck accelerated easier, and handled it so much better. I have a nice stretch of rural highway I live on, so I also got to cruise around 70 with it. The truck did not struggle at all. The RPM's ran around 2000 on flat ground.
I had done a lot of reading and research over the years since the Ecoboost arrived on the market and I'm glad I finally gave one a tow test. I am now a "Ford Guy"!

RE: Pop up verses hard sided truck campers

I started camping with my family about 5 years ago. We bought a used starcraft popup which served us well. However, we decided to invest in a hard sided trailer. What a difference! I own a Jayco 23B which is about as much weight as my Chevy 5.3 1500 was going to handle. This is a Hybrid Travel Trailer(HTT). That means the beds fold out on the ends which give the bunks the same appearance and function as a popup. The living space, shower, refrigerator, AC are so much more convenient. Also storage. You can only fit so much into the popups and usually the fridge is much smaller. We can put most of what we need in the trailer. All we put in the truck now are bikes and firewood and a cooler for the drinks. Quicker set up time as well.
The were 2 benefits to the popup. 1)Cost 2)ease of towing
Other than that, I would not go back unless money became the issue.
Best of luck!

RE: Scared to buy

I bought a new Jayco 23B HTT and this is the families 3rd summer camping in it. I have had 0 issues with it. No warranty work, no money out of my pocket so far(except all that camping of course) and adding grease to hubs. That was the only disappointment I had, I ran the hubs for the first summer only to realize that manufacturers do not fill the grease hubs. They just put enough to get it off the line. Luckily I had no problems on the road.
So, I say find a manufacturer that has a 2 year warranty like you said and go have fun!!!
