RE: Dealer ruined my friends F350 diesel.

Off topic slightly but I can't wait until Dodge and GM run out of room under the hood and copy Ford with a lift-off cab. Can't wait to see the reaction on here.
Removing the Cab for a CTD is how most shops do it now. You can do it without removing the cab but it is much harder on the Tech physically.

RE: Oil Level?

As another poster stated it is not uncommon for dipsticks not to be calibrated correctly. Most are very close but not all of them.
The way to calibrate them is when the oil is changed with "the exact amount of oil specified in the owners manual" run the engine and let it sit for half an hour or so on a level surface before checking it.
Pull the dipstick and mark where the oil level is on the dipstick. Take a file and score the dipstick at this location so you will always know what the true oil level is.
Hope this was helpful.

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

We live in Texas and understand your cooling concerns when summer camping!
After purchasing our fiver we learned the single 15k ac unit that came in our trailer was not enough, even after sealing the duct work that was open to the roof area. Bad AC installation from the factory.
Since our trailer had 30 amp service I converted it to 50 amp service and added the second 15k AC unit. This one is ductless and cools much better than the ducted unit I have.
At 105 with no shade I can get the inside temp down to 76 with both units running.
There are some things you need to check to make sure your current unit is as efficient as possible such as making sure the ac unit is pulling air from the inside of the trailer and not from the roof area and make sure the AC ducting is sealed properly and not cooling the roof area.
But if you are going to camp in the heat you need two 15k AC units and 50 amp service to support them in my opinion.
Hope this was helpful.

RE: Camping in your driveway.

I can't get the new TT out until next week, but the kids want to sleep in it tonight. I must admit...I do too!
Anyone else ever camp in the driveway?
We have been camping in our driveway for the past four months while our house is being repaired.
Before the house renovation on nights I can't sleep I have been known to go "camping in the driveway."

Alcoa Wheels

After a couple hundred thousand miles and too many pot holes to count it is time to replace the wheels on my truck to stop the vibration.
I tow a 35ft fiver on the weekends so I am looking for a quality wheel I can safely tow with.
After some online reasearch I am leaning toward a set of Alcoa wheels.
Does anyone have any experience with this brand?
Your input is appreciated.

RE: 30 or 50 amp?

Most Class C's (new) have an optional upgrade to 50 amps. In the heat of Texas I would get the 50 amps and 2 A/C's
It is better to have 50 amp service and two AC's if you plan to camp during the summer in Texas. I converted my 30 amp fiver to 50 amp and added the second 15k ac unit to have a cool place to spend the hot summer afternoons.
