RE: Diluting antifreeze

I found a male garden hose by female 1/2" NPT bushing at the hardware store. A male air quick connect screws into that. Set my air regulator to 40 psi and connect to the city water connection on the trailer. Went from faucet to faucet blowing the water out (after bypassing and draining the water heater). Then sucked in the pink stuff through the pump till it ran out all the faucets. Remembered 2 hours later that I forgot the outside shower. DOHHH !!

RE: Pass or Get Out of the Way

I had that same situation only yesterday. Texas SH 176, 2 lane posted 75 mph. I was pulling my 5er at 65. Wide shoulder on that two lane but I hate shoulders, roofing nails, welding rods, bolts, and you name it road hazards out there. I had one PU behind me that kept weaving over to the shoulder, he wanted me to move to the shoulder to give him the third lane in the middle. I didn't want to do it but since no passing opportunity appeared after a mile or two I finally relented and let him by. He saved a minute or two and apparently I did not ruin a tire, this time.

RE: New truck, new hitch, old trailer, new problem

Is it towing level? Is it banging against the overload springs? Air bags help both of those problems. I have the B&W Companion and love it.

RE: Need input to ease my mind about some cold weather setup.

As long as the temps don't drop below 30F and stay there during the day you should be fine. Early morning sun also helps plumbing from freezing. In the summer I'm trying to get out of the sun in the winter I'm trying to get in it LOL.

RE: what do people use

I tried two different pancake compressors, a porter cable, and a craftsman. Neither would supply air longer than a few minutes. I then read the instruction book on the Craftsman and found that it was a 50% duty cycle. i.e. it needed a 30 minute rest after 30 minutes of running. Totally unsuitable for airing up more than one tire per hour. I am now without a compressor until I can find a small 100% duty cycle model.

RE: How Many Miles On Goodyear Maratthons

8,000 miles, ripples in the sidewalls and extremely bad reviews on this forum and others, my china bombs came off & ribs went on. Hard on the pocketbook but the sense of security more than makes up for that.

RE: Chevy Integrated Trailer Brake Controller ?

Get it !! I like mine.
Forgot to mention that it won't pull test. The slide switch will not activate the trailer brakes unless you are moving some speed around 5 mph. So the old method of locking the trailer brakes and pulling against it will not work. I don't really mind, I have a B&W Companion so it's not that big of an issue.

RE: Have no clue what I can pull

I pull a 11000# dry weight 5 er with a Duramax 3/4 ton SRW. The air bags add a lot of stability. My gross is about 20,500. I like the way it drives and pulls and stops.

RE: Slideout pump

Find a gasket company. They can make (copy) any gasket or any o-ring.

RE: New 5th Wheel: Will it "fit" my truck OK?

The dealer should make any necessary adjustments to the ride height before you pull it out the door.

RE: Two Way Handsets for Backing

We bought the cheap battery powered radios as a test. Found it works a lot better than hand signals and yelling. I have to get it right quickly or else we need new batteries. I'm getting a better set of rechargeable radios for Christmas.

RE: Electric Slide Lubrication issue

Brass bushings are very good for a dry bearing with less than 50% duty cycle. I can't understand the wear problem unless the slide has been bouncing on them when on the road, or they have been lubricated in the past. Oil and grease are contaminates for brass, they attract grit.

RE: Can a 1/2 Ton Truck Pull a Fifth Wheel?

Pulling too big a TT will be just as bad as pulling too big a 5er. Stay close to manufacturers weight guidelines and you will be ok. Rear end ratio, tranny and motor size can limit you as well.

RE: Badly worn tire

Was it flat spotting or cupping? A flat spot goes all the way across, cupping is just in the center of the tread. Cupping is common in inferior tires, and with balance issues.
