Hi All
A little more info...
If you do feel the need to check in with the office we are under the name "Gas Guzzlers".
The weather is great but it will be a little warm side this weekend. It should be in the 90s and sunny. I does cool off real nice at night and there is usally a breeze.
If you are a late arrival and the gate is closed there is a key pad on the left by the guard shack. The gate code is #2323
If you need gas or fuel get it before you get on the island. Not too many business are open and there is only one very tight gas station that has any gas . There are two stations at the Main Street/Cypress intersection.
I got an email and was asked about a payment plan... The park would like to have just one check. So I will collect checks/cash from everyone made out to me. The park does't accept Credit Cards and niether do I.
The basic costs are...
$31.50 per night. This includes 2 persons and one vehicle.
$5 for extra car per night.
$2 per extra person per night.
The best I can figure out no charge for pets.
No tax.

You are basicly going the same way Steve and Terry are. Once you are on the Byron Hwy follow it until you come to Camino Diablo turn left and follow it to the Hwy 4 Bypass/Vasco rd and turn right. then you follow it to Laurel rd and exit to the right and follow it to Main street and turn left and take a right at the first light on Cypress and your Bethel Island bound...

Also a quick fishin update.......
Bruce Barbour and Steve Duncan are workin The Mokelumne River near the Bridge. At last report they have caught a few of those amphibious kitty cats.....
I will be heading back out later and this time if its legal its goin in the pot!!!!!

Sites and dates are updated on 1st page. If you need to checkin at the office feel free but there's no need. Just print the map on page one and follw it to your site. Most of you guys have my Phone # if you don't and want it let me know.
BTW they have great WiFi. I've never used it before.....

Thanks to Kris pointing it out I have found the WiFi at SB. Guess I should pay more attention to those things. My air card doesn't work too well.
As far as getting here.
From the Valley...
The route that Steve and Terry are taking is the easiest driving. The Hwy 4 east from Stockton does have one bad bridge and one bad curve connected to a bad bridge.
There is a road that cuts across from I-5 to 160 north of Gault "Twin Cities Road". I know nothing about it but it is being used as a detour ,according to some web sites. Use at your own risk.
Or do what Kris and Steve is doing and do the 80/680/4 thing or again do what Art and Diane are doing and come a day early and after 4pm.
This only matters to the early comers not the people arriving on Friday.

From Hwy 4 west...
Take the Bypass/Oakley exit just pass the Hillcrest Ave exit in Antioch., Well its not really an exit just stay in the left two lanes past Hillcrest. Then as John said Take exit 31,Laurel Rd. Stay to your left and go back over the hwy and continue on Laurel untill Main St/Hwy4 then left. First light is Cypress turn right and just follow the signs to Bethel Island and the Sugar Barge.

NOW FOR THE REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF.
I fished my butt of yesterday.....and not one stinking Catfish:M
I have never caught so many Stripers in one weekend in my life tho.:B
I even talked to a couple of guys that were out fishing for Catfish this weekend and they had the same luck I did. They had never seen it this slow.
My theroy is that there are so many stripers that the competition for food is to great....Not sure if its true but sounds professional......
One other reason is the bait I was using will be eaten by both. So I'm gonna change bait and giver another try.........

John and CAL don't worry about wood. Between me and Steve K. we already have it covered. I am hauling a bunch out today in my work truck and its gonna be in the 90's next weekend anyway.
We were planning on bringing some firewood too. Are you sure you have enough?
That is a bummer about the restaurant, but I am not surprised. SAL's restaurant closes after Labor Day weekend too. Oh well, we will just have to drink our own liquor and eat our own food!
Butch, did you catch any fishes???
I edited my post about the wood Judy. You guys go ahead and bring some. I don't know how much we will use. It is supposed to be warm but you never know.
The reasturant will open for a "private "party" but I don't think that will work for us...so your right we will just have to rough it a fend for ourselves.

Dianne. Are you guys coming on Wendsday? I have you down for Thursday. Please let me know so I can get it right with the park. Either way Hwy12 is supposed to be open by 4pm everyday. I also heard that there is away around it. Someone said there is a cutoff from I5 to 160 someplace around Walnut Grove. I can't swear to that but will check it out.
John. I just took Laurel Rd for the first time this morning. Not a bad way to go. Its a pretty new road and I don't really travel that way too often. I will post some better directions later today as this will affect everyone coming Hwy4 West.
Kris.Your list looks good to me and there is a Safeway about 5 miles away.....:W
Judy. It is a bummer about the Resturant/Bar. I was taking to them yesterday and they closed it last weekend. Theres just not enough business after summer to keep it going.
Lee. Come on out....If you want Site #1 you can just sleep on Karla's new couch :B
Kris "Kajtek" is joinging us for dinner Saturday.....
We do have one other person joining us for the weekend. It is friends of ours ,Curt and Linda. They were with us on the Yosemite trip earlier this yr so some of you folks already know them.
I will still post the new sites today. I left them in the Camper:S

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!
We had 2 cancelations. Jeff and Laura...And Ron both had to cancel. Sorry they won't be here but there is always next time.
If there are any more cancelations please if possible let me know by early AM on Monday the 14th. I need to turn the sites back in so I don't get charged for them. Also if anyone else does want to come we have 2 sites but at the same time would need to know this by Monday AM as well.
The park did change some of our sites so I will be moving a couple of people around. Nothing drastic or farther away from the group area.
This park does things a little different. No one needs to checkin at the office. They gave me all the passes and info to hand out to every one. The easiest thing to do is just find your site on the map posted on the 1st page and go straight to your site. I will be in site #1 and can help you out if needed. You can check with them if you want and they can direct you. I will be giving them a list of who has what site. I will post more info about this on monday when I have all the sites confirmed...Thanks!

Good evening all....
Just got in from fishing. It was a little windy but I survived as long as I could. I will be heading out againg early in the morning if the weather holds. There is a chance of more rain tomorrow but then its over. It will be sunny and warm next weekend.:B
As far as the fishing went....I did catch enough fish to feed us but not the right kind.:R

We are about to head out. My friend and his boys are coming tonight to fish with me. I hope we do better than the last trip.
The weather is really funky today also. Some rain and plenty of lightning. The low pressure should help out with the fishing tho.
Kris if you guys want to come out and visit Saturday come on out. A freind of mine my join us as well.
Comeone Jill you guys have a whole week to get here.
I will post later tonight hopefully with good news....

Yep The fishing trip was not as great success..... Fun but short. Me and a friend took out his 5 and 10 yr old sons and as soon as the sun started going down and the fish really started biting so did the misquitoes and it didn't take long for the boys to want to go home. It was fun taking them but not the most productive way to fish.
I'm actually heading to SB on the 12th and Staying and fishing all week so I hope I can "GET ER DONE" by Thursday.

Hi everyone.
We just got back from a ATV trip to Cisco Grove. We had a great time riding the quads. We went with Steve,Kris, Ramon and Nina.
I see that I'm behind on the signups and updates. I will try and get the 1st page caught up tomorrow.
Thanks for all the offers to pitch in. It is much appreciated and needed.
If anyone else wants to come early please let me know. I have everyone that has asked to date. I will be calling the Sugar Barge tomorrow afternoon to get the early arrivals situated.
