RE: Illegal Towing.... Triple Towing

In an effort to show more amazing double tows, I present exhibit A in Cabot, Arkansas. I saw this guy at the Wal Mart.....and yes, that is a GAS van/converted U-Haul pulling an older TT, probably over 7000lbs if I had to guess, plus another small enclosed trailer. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll224/wxguru2u/20130610_0741001_zps15b96664.jpeg It is legal to double tow in Arkansas

RE: This Makes Me A Sad Panda.......

I know they have to do it...but doesn't make it any easier to see....we are such a wasteful country sometimes....

RE: Just towed my TT with new diesel

If I could, I would actually move to the Neihart area....the Little Belts are beautiful thru there.....I could spend eternity there. :)

RE: Just towed my TT with new diesel

MrKoje.....my wife is from Great Falls....all her family is from there...and the Livingston area. Her grandparents still live in Great Falls. I would love to move there someday...beautiful country. All, I do intend to put a much bigger load behind it in due time. I am doing my due diligence, I didn't buy an oversize trailer requiring an upgrade to a new truck and have to be slammed with the "double whammy" purchase that some unfortunate souls get into. We love the TT, and have plenty of power to spare. I will be upgrading to a 5er...probably in the next 3 years or so...about the time I pay off the new truck.

RE: Just towed my TT with new diesel

Dave H M, I was yanking around that load with a 2003 1500 4X2 for 2 years....so this is a monstrous difference.....I was near max on the payload. And while I know it wasn't hurting the truck, the truck was screaming up the hills and was a chore just to hold 45mph.... For those asking about the switch to the 2010....there is a post on here somewhere...I will see if I can find it.

Just towed my TT with new diesel

Holy hell......I can't stop the grinning. First time I have pulled our 7500lb TT with our 2012 Ram CC 4x4 with the 6.7L engine. Up grades of as much as 8% and I was able to effortlessly hold 60-65mph...and then the exhaust brake on the same grades....I was able to go down those grades...granted with only 7500lbs and never touch the actual brake! I don't know how the truck determines how much to kick in on the brake, but a time or two it downshifted and the exhaust brake really ramped up and was actually slowing us down the grade without touching the foot brake. I had to actually feather the throttle to keep my speed up a bit so we didn't hinder traffic behind us. I know alot of you guys have had this for a bit...but I am a diesel virgin....lol A thing of beauty...just had to share....the stupid grin is here to stay I think! :)

RE: Bearing Seal help

Thank you guys for all of the advice. I probably will pull them and replace like Dtaylor says. I will say...I said hot....the hub wasn't hot enough to cause me to pull my hand away, but it was definitely hot enough to be uncomfortable to leave it on there more than about 8 seconds or so. The other hubs were barely even warm (I check them every time we stop)

RE: Bearing Seal help

Yeah, I knew they had the tag....I didn't mention that it is stored offsite, and I am trying to prevent a trip out to the trailer yard to go check it. I guess I might have to do that.

Bearing Seal help

I have a 2011 Cherokee Grey Wolf 28A+KS, that weighs about 5800lbs dry. I have a hub that was pretty darn hot when I checked it after driving 200 miles back home. I need to get in there and replace the bearing seal and repack the bearings. I have all the original paperwork for the trailer, and on most of it, they circled or marked the different items that were installed on the owner's manuals since most list multiple different items. Well, the Lippert Axle manual shows about 15 different axles, but they didn't mark which was installed! :( So, for those that might know, would a trailer weighing in at 5800lbs probably have dual 3500# axles, or are they the 5200 or 6000# axles? I need that info to be able to get the right bearing seal. Anyone here have the same trailer or one similar that could tell me which axles come on it? Thanks in advance!!

RE: New to me TV! YAY!! Should I name her?

As long as it works for you, it is perfect. And judging by your excitement, you found what you love.....and heck yes name it...it wouldn't be right without a name! :) CONGRATS!

RE: 2013 Ram brake controller..how do i know if working?

Maybe it is just me....but why do you want the brakes to lock up? I try to keep the brakes set to maximum braking without them locking up. For the record, I am towing about 7200lbs loaded (TT in signature). I run the heavy electric setting with 6.5 on the brake controller. Perfect setting for my trailer.

RE: Equalizer hitch Question

The 1400/14000lb model is going to work barely...and if you don't max out the weight...but as the last person said....you stock receiver on that truck I don't think will hold that tongue weight. If you load up to 13500, your tongue weight is going to be over even the 1400lb tongue capacity of that hitch. As far as cornering and everything....it will work just fine. Will do fine on dirt and rock roads. Just clean it from time to time.

RE: Equalizer hitch Question

Equalizer only sells their own...which is one design. They do sell them in different sizes though....They have an 800/8000lb setup, 1000/10000lb setup and I believe a 1200/12000lb and 1400/14000lb setup as well. Pick based on how big of a trailer you will own down the road...better to go larger and have the room than to cut yourself off and go too small.

RE: ford, f350, Tire PSI.. (Not towing)

My 2012 Dodge 2500 has a low inflation button option on the dash that allows me to run lower pressures without setting off the low tire warning. I like having that feature.

That's a good looking truck! Congrats! :)

RE: Would this differential increase my towing capacity.

Well, since that differential probably weighs in the neighborhood of 2500lbs or more, you will be over payload....you might be able to drag it though. :)
