RE: Va. St parks and pet fee

I don't know, don't camp in state parks but I would pay with no problem. I do understand that you are paying for the people before and after you that don't know how to clean up after there own animals.

RE: Car Max Experience

I went back in today because I was able to get a better rate on financing and they told me if I did this within three days it was ok. I was in and out in 30 minutes. I own an aftermarket shop and I'm in the dealerships every day and there is no comparison if your after a used car. Maybe you can save a few bucks if you have the time to hang out all day and haggle with the local dealer but if you do the research you know what you should pay. If car max is there on price it's a no brainer! So if you sold cars and were good at it I can't imagine you would ever work at car max! I know some car salesmen that make really good money! Private party sales just aren't what they used to be when your over 15 to 20 grand and like already said who wants the knuckle-heads at your house anyway. I've bought and sold some trailers and cars under $10,000 but they had to come to my shop to look. I wasn't saying car max is always the right way to go, it's just that with me this time it couldn't have worked out better for me because my time is limited to drive around and look at cars and they were right there with everyone on price.

RE: hitch blocked by another trailer

I would have already tried to hook up to my camper, if that failed I'd knock on a few doors, if that failed and no lock on the offending trailer I'd hook up and pull it forward. Don't know the specific layout but I'm guessing if your careful they will never know you moved it.

RE: Car Max Experience

Car Max has good used vehicles and a good sales reps. Good no pressure sales. BUT, their profit margin for each vehicle they buy at auction is $5000-$7000 and they will not negotiate. You have to decide for yourself if all their hype is worth that much, especially since you'll probably be paying 7%-12% interest on that profit over the next 3-5 years. Early last year I was looking at a 2005 Honda CRV. They wanted $19,000 (CA prices) which is $5000 above asking prices at other car lots. I found a 2002 CRV in better shape, with every add-on imaginable, thru a private party for $8000 (CA dollars). I was wondering when the voice of reason would show up? You are spot on with your take on these operations. I have a construction company, way to many personal cars for four of us, and suffer from the RV bug also. For me there is only one way to buy vehicles, and that is as cheaply as possible. Also there is only one way to sell them, and that is never trading them in. By getting involved with a hour of less than pleasant negotiation, and refusing the trade in offer for our current rig, I ended up about 25-30K ahead when we upgraded to a newer DP. Walking into any place that claims that there is no need to negotiate, isn't something I would do. Kind of like the 19K. eight year old CRV. I just paid 3K more for a new one. Well my particular deal was researched well and had some inside help from a GM at a dealership that I am a vendor for. Might have saved a $1000.00 going private party but couldn't find one like the one I got with low mileage( 2010 civic ex 27,000 and spotless ) 30 day warranty and 5 days to return if I want..... I run my own business and have little time to run around looking at cars. I compared car max to other dealers and private party / auto trader / Edmonds... Car max was right there and most importantly it was done QUICK !!! Everyone has to make money, just need to make sure they don't make too much.

RE: Rain, Rain, Rain

The weather changes so quickly, I'd wait and check the weather late today and I'd go unless it was gonna be a 100% rain-out every day.

Car Max Experience

Have been looking for a car for my daughter for a couple weeks now just looking on the Internet and browsing thru a couple dealerships. Only been in Car Max one time to see what they would give me for a Suburban I had. I found a Honda Civic on their website and went in with the stock number and within 2 minutes we were looking at the car and about 5 others in the same price range. Bottom line, best car buying experience ever! Maybe an hour and 20 minutes from start to finish! 5 days to return the car for any reason and or get my own financing. What a huge difference from your normal car dealer.

RE: Quick help - Charlottesville VA

Not too familiar with the area but my guess is there will be many options around a big campus like UVA.

RE: Snake!!!

Sorry but if I even think it could be dangerous to me or my family it's getting the shovel...they should be killed every time... I guess we should kill all deer since they cause car crashes. Bears are extremely dangerous. Coyotes could drag children off into the woods for lunch. Kill em all! Kill em all! :B I'm not a hunter but I do believe when the deer population gets bad they have controlled hunting outside of regular deer season. No coyotes or bears in my yard here in Northern Virginia so no worries there but if one was to threaten a family member they would get shot. I've never once seen a mouse in or around my house but if they became a problem they would done away with..... Same with a snake, sorry but don't like snakes so unless I'm 100% sure it's not poisonous it's gonna get the shovel if it won't go away on its own. Y'all snake lovers can keep them all, even the ones that keep away the mice. They all bite and some are deadly! A poisonous snake should always be a dead snake! Beemerphile, you've lost your mind! My family over any snake or dangerous animal any time! Watch out for those coyotes and bears in your yard, they won't hurt anyone.

RE: Snake!!!

You do know that killing a snake in most, if not all states, is illegal. Sorry but if I even think it could be dangerous to me or my family it's getting the shovel. I'm no snake expert so a friendly might go down but I'll deal with the mice before I chance my kids getting bit! Love it when you see rattlers get caught and then released!!! Sorry they should be killed every time! They can only hurt someone....

RE: 2 part question

First question.... Frig, I keep mine on all the time and full of drinks. I do turn the setting down while at home but read it doesn't work as hard when its full of whatever. Second question.... Battery, mine stays plugged in to 50 amp 24/7, 365 and no battery issues. So far 7 years like this.

RE: Small dealer rant

No chance I would go to DMV over a couple mis-spelled words. If the tags made it to my house that's good enough. If it really bothers you try DMV online, maybe you can get it fixed from your computor.

RE: Picture From Last Saturday Night....

I go camping to relax and for me that's not in a recliner looking up at the sky all day and in bed by 9:00. I've only been camping since 2004 but have seen many projectors with sporting events and movies in many different campgrounds. I hope the ones that don't want to camp next to the op don't camp next to me either! We don't go crazy on our site but we do enjoy ourselves. I do have a projector, only used it twice, I liked the picture better on the 40" I brought from inside the camper to the outside. I also always have a campfire, I bet those same people hate campfires because we always make the smoke go towards their site. We keep the noise down at night although if you are next to us you may here some talking because we don't go in at quiet time. All the grumps should get better night shades and a couple box fans will drown out all noise from outside. To the op... Nice set-up!!!
